Greek Drama

Increasingly, Hellary Clinton's fall from grace is appearing to be a modern Greek tragedy. She and her band of desperadoes are grasping for straws in their frantic attempt to save themselves from drowning under the Trump wave election. Their three state vote recounts have failed in humiliating fashion, the news of the Russians overtly helping Trump to get elected increasingly rings "fake," and now there is their fatuous appeal to Trump electors to abandon honor and vote for Hellary.

What makes this passion play even more full of pathos is that her band of outlaws also included many media luminaries. Or, should I say, many former media luminaries? Those that too enthusiastically sought the embrace of this spider woman may never recover from these humiliating sell-outs of their journalistic ethics. It's as though one is hearing the Greek chorus moaning and groaning over the ending of progressive euphoria.

But, like most Greek dramas, there is a counterpoint. And that is that many patriotic Americans are smiling more and sleeping better ...

Spy Fry

Spies are supposed to be slippery ... and is there anyone more opaque and shady than John Brennan who heads the CIA, our major spy organization? He has even stated that the US should not be spying on other countries! What, our spy organization, not spying on other countries? Are they just going to read foreign newspapers and write boring reports? (Something like what I do here.)

The CIA recently was known to be the source of the leak that Russia was supposedly hacking the Democrats' e-mails to help Trump get elected president ... a clear political move on the CIA's part. Why would the CIA allow itself to become so involved in such partisan nonsense? Perhaps because John Brennan is also an Obummer stooge?

I have written before about the clay feet that Brennan too often sports ... see: Connecting the DotsHeads Should Roll, It's My CIA Now, Acolytes and I Spy Not (wherein Brennan questions the role of his agency). Could it be that Brennan is the one orchestrating these oblique attacks on Trump?

Now more information has come to my attention about Brennan's political and religious leanings ... see: American Thinker for some careful insights and, a little bit more sensationalized, yet also well researched, Intrepid Reporter. (Please read them ... they are engrossing.) Basically, the worrisome implication of these two pieces is that Brennan is a Muslim convert ... and a Wahhabist at that ... as a result of spending many years on post in Saudi Arabia. It is also speculated that he has drawn around him at the CIA other Muslims in positions of influence. This, to me, is quite disturbing ... and reinforces my suspicions about Obummer's too kind feelings toward the Religion of Peace.

For you liberals, I'll save you some time ... Snopes deems this speculation as UNPROVEN (see: Snopes) which, to me ... considering the current reputation of this lefty site, is as good as verifying things.

A Chess Question

Putin's Russia had its way with Obummer for eight painful years ... beating him at every move. (One wag said that they were  playing chess while he was playing checkers.) Now the Democrats are claiming that the Ruskies hacked their e-mails in order to keep Hellary from winning the presidency. The obvious question is: Why would a continuation of Obummer's ineptitude and lax security that would still occur under Hellary not be in Russia's best strategic interest? And therefore why would they want an unknown player, Trump, to prevail as president? Particularly since he will check many of their gambits (like the Iran nuclear deal) and has sworn to rebuild America's hegemony? Makes no sense to me ...

Conclusion: very often when the Democrats accuse the Republicans of something, it is the Democrats who are, in fact, guilty. I strongly suspect that this Russian involvement in Trump's election to be a bit of liberal-concocted fake news ... with the purpose of discrediting Trump's presidency.

Check mate!

Silly Memes

Indolent societies, like we are now blessed with, seem to skip merrily down the path to silly memes ... like powdered wigs or cod pieces. Modern society keeps inventing new looks or mores faster than the beautiful people can keep up with them. Here are some that have caught my eye of late:

- The stubble face: Men who are not clean shaven or bearded ... but in-between. Must be uncomfortable sleeping with ... and often resulting in an ingrown whisker. Ooh and ouch!

- Mr. Clean look: A shiny chrome dome ... must be a bear to maintain ... how does one shave the back of one's head? This look is often paired with the stubble face. Kinda pretentious, no?

- Cell-phone mania: How many times have you bumped into some inattentive person talking on their IPhone while striding down the street or a supermarket aisle? It seems that such behavior is supposed to indicate how very important and connected someone is ... even though they may just be talking to their dog walker.

- Over-puffed lips: Probably started with Hot Lips Houlihan on "MASH". Women (including Loretta Swit now) often have these collagen-enhanced smackers that are bumpy and misshapen ... anything but "hot" IMHO.

- Eating contests: It all started with Coney Island hot dogs on the Fourth of July... now blossoming into mile-high hamburgers, square-yard pizzas and unlimited buffalo chicken wings. Even the American Pickers challenged Mike to eat 8 dozen raw oysters for glutton's sake!

- "Look-at-me" behavior: Celebrities (Lady Gaga, Leo DiCaprio, Madonna, etc.) frantically trying to elbow their way into the news cycle with outrageous quotes or antics ... mostly obscenities or mindless lefty pap.

- Bubble butts: Kim Kardashian has made it fashionable to have a caboose looking like two huge balloons filled with cold cream. So glitterati plastic surgeons are cashing in on this neo-Hottentot look.

Irrational Exuberance

Here is a very interesting story about "irrational exuberance" (a term coined by a former Federal Reserve Bank Chairman, Alan Greenspan describing what he considered to be a hyper-inflated stock market) that may be once again rearing its ugly head in American ... see: CNBC Story. Basically, what this analysis by Yale Nobel-prize winning economics professor Robert Schiller suggests is that one key measure ... cyclically adjusted price earnings ratio (CAPE), may be flashing warnings of an impeding major stock market correction ... just like it did in 1929, 2000 and 2008.

From the above chart we can visualize that the CAPE index is moving into dangerous territory which surely suggest future problems for stock investors. However, as we can see in 1929 and 2000, the index can, as often happens, move far above the danger point before things actually correct. So, before you sell all your equities, may I posit that this index may get even further out of bounds before the bottom drops out.

So, if you like to gamble, you might wait until this index gets even more extended in the coming year. And, when the man shining your shoes asks for a market tip, then it might be time to head for the hills. If you are risk averse, you might start paring back or hedging your bets now.

Afterward: Greenspan made this comment in 1996 ... the market didn't crash with the dot-com bubble until four years later ...

Fake News

Conservative news organizations are being castigated by many traditional media organizations for promoting "fake news" stories for political advantage ... one such example being the recent pizza parlor child-trafficking conspiracy theory ... see: New York Times Story ... which caused a mentally-ill man to fire an AR-15 rifle into the ceiling there in protest. However such fake news stories pale in comparison to some whoppers that the main stream media have propagated over the years. Here is a story on this twisted meme ... see: The Hill Story.

Besides these The Hill references to the Iran nuclear deal and Obamacare fake news stories, there are literally hundreds more memes that those mainstream news outlets, which we used to rely on, spoon fed us over the years ... all of which turned out to be phony. Here are just a sampling: Al Sharpton/Tawanda Brawley, vanishing polar bears,  Benghazi attack based on an Internet video, the Religion of Peace, Rathergate, no WMDs in Iraq, "hands up don't shoot", Ted Kennedy's 1965 immigration amnesty "fix", carbon dioxide as a pollutant, etc., etc., etc.

Do I make my point?

Home Runs

Obummer's Soon-to-be Washington, DC Home
There are five people in President Obummer's family (counting his Robinson mother-in-law), so this apparently entitles them to five luxurious homes which they either have or plan to have soon -- Chicago, New York, Hawaii, Washington, DC, and Rancho Mirage, CA ... for some pictures and other details, see: Word Press Article. From what I understand this article has made at least one error, the Obummers will only be  renting the Washington home until Sasha graduates from high school in two years (unless she goes to college in DC?)

My back-of-the-envelope calculation is that the annual Obummer operating expense for these five residences has to easily exceed a million dollars. Yes, government pensions, speaking fees and book sales might just cover this after he leaves office, but from whence comes the necessary scratch now (estimated at least half of this which his salary as president doesn't even cover)? And imagine what the Secret Service is going to have to shell out to protect all five of these manses! Yes, protecting Trump is also going to be prohibitively expensive. Is there no ceiling to presidential and ex-presidential costs? Perhaps Congress needs to put some limits on what we taxpayers are willing to front to protect our now-royalty and ex-poobahs?

Observations

Here are a few random observations that have occurred to me recently:

For a seventy-year old man, Donald Trump's energy level and range of activity has me in awe. If he can keep this up for four more years, we are in for a wild ride.

There is lots of current speculation about -- is Hellary going to run for president in 2020? The obvious answer is, because of her age and poor health, no. Yet I doubt that this will be the stated position of the Clinton crime family. Why? Because, if it was clear that she wasn't going to run, then who and why would the Clinton Foundation get any more pay-for-play donations?

I think that the number of candidates for Trump's Secretary of State has now risen to ten ... with John Huntsman name now being considered. Perhaps next, John Kerry?

My tongue-in-cheek solution to Donald Trump's conflict-of-interest problem with his vast property holdings around the world ... would be for Trump to put all these holdings in his own charitable foundation ... dedicated to the elimination of poverty in the Trump extended family ... to be run by his wife and children ... and maybe even John Podesta (he's looking for a job.)

I think the Democrat party is committing hari kari in two bone-headed steps. First, electing Nancy Pelosi to be minority leader in the House again ... and second, possibly electing the front-runner Keith Ellison to head the DNC. You might even add New York Senator Upchuck Schumer as the new Senate minority leader to this mix.

There is a fashionable trend now toward heavy black horn-rimmed glasses ... in an attempt to make the wearer appear smart and serious. To me, I think that instead it makes the wearers look silly and slavish.

Tough question: Is the hidden agenda of Planned Parenthood and the governments' poor attention to the rampant fatal gang violence in places like Chicago ... a socially-acceptable form of eugenics?
