Why Trump Won

- He is genuine in thought and action

- He is a patriot and loves his country

- He identified many issues* that were being ignored by our betters

- He promised to fix them ... and the voters believed him

- He said he would make America great again

- He knew that Washington was corrupt to the core

- And promised to “drain this swamp”

- He identified our fake media ... something that many suspected

- He wasn’t Hillary

* uncontrolled immigration, unfair trading pacts, anemic economic growth, Chinese hegemony, pointless international nation building, tolerance of terrorism at home and abroad, NATO slackers, climate change hoax, Obamacare disaster, liberal courts, insane Iran nuclear deal, North Korea nuclear and missile problems

Nothing to See Here ...

Move along. It is stunning that, after yesterday’s revelation of widespread unmasking of General Flynn’s name in transcripts of intercepted phone calls ... that, of the 3 alphabet TV networks, only CBS devoted anytime to this bombshell news ... 50 seconds worth!

This is more proof positive that ABC, NBC and yes even CBS ... are corrupt fake news to their bone.

Consistancy

Most humans crave constancy ... they want to be grounded in their lives. They want their media to maintain a constant approach to the news ... be it factual or, to use a popular term, “fake.” This reliability gives them comfort. That is why their news readers on television are called “anchors.” They care not so much if their news is biased ... just that it is consistently biased.

Fake News

The stock market is on a tear after it is disclosed that an anti-viral drug from Gilead Sciences shows promising COVID-19 therapeutic effectiveness ... see: IB Times. A frowning Nancy Pelosi and most House Democrats denounce this revelation as fake news! “So, Trump must be in cahoots with his Wall Street buddies and stands to make a financial killing,” says a sneering Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Hostile Media

President Trump gripes that the fake-news’ constant nipping at his heels is impeding what he can get done. This may or may not be the case. And by this I mean just the “nipping” not the “fake news.”

Let’s be real ... the deep state and most of the hostile media hate Trump with a white-hot passion. Although this makes his job much more difficult ... in a way, it is a good thing ... for it requires him to perform well in every situation .... like in the current COVID-19  outbreak.

In the heat of the moment, it is difficult to gauge how well he is handling this health crisis, but, to me, I think he is managing this crisis almost as well as possible. Sure, he has made a few missteps. But, like any good manager, he is driven not by ideology, but to produce results and can pivot on a dime to do so.

When the national media is in love with a president, like with our former “chosen one,” gigantic mistakes are not focused on nor corrected ... in fact they are résumé enhancers ... such as Obamacare, the rise of “ISIL,” the Iran nuclear deal, the Paris Climate Accord, the swine flu response, TARP and the Afghanistan “surge” among many other Obama boners.

So, dear reader, although our national media is grossly biased and dishonest, they may be performing a useful purpose ... keeping Trump walking the line ... and will likely give themselves lots of kudos for such.

Teapot Tempest

There is a recent story I have refused to include in the Headlines posts here. And that concerns Trump’s assertion that hurricane Dorian once may have been threatening Alabama. This Trump Tweet was based on early cone path projections of this storm crossing over Florida and into the Golf of Mexico. Of course, if this happened, Alabama could be in its eventual path ... see: NBC News Story.

The media bias quickly kicked in and Trump was pilloried for this possible off-base prognostication ... which then spawned a firestorm of debate inside and outside of government ... mostly non-stories. I paid no attention because this fake news was, to me, fake news. It was one more attempt to paint Trump with some more slime. Does the media not see how obvious they are with all this silliness. A tempest in a teapot does not adequately describe the magnification of this puny issue into many headline grabbers ... all of which I have rightfully ignored.

I think this non-story deserves an even-better analogy ... how about ‘a fart in Dorian’s eye-wall.’

Reverse Psychology

Rush Limbaugh pointed out something today that is so obvious that it is a wonder that we haven’t noted it before ... viz, whatever Trump is for, Democrats are against ... and whatever Trump is against, Democrats are for. This used to be jokingly how a parent could control an unruly child ... by using reverse psychology. “Don’t you eat that spinach!” “Please make sure you leave your room a mess.” And so forth.

So ...


If Trump wants to control immigration with a wall, Dems campaign for open borders.

If Trump wants better relations with Russia, Dems do a u-turn from their traditional fifth-column-ism and accuse him of being a Putin “cock holster.”

Dems are suddenly concerned with Trump’s national deficits after eight years of their own fire-hose spending.

Because of tax cuts, Trump’s economic miracle is just a continuation of Obama’s recovery.

Trump’s pointing out how many times reporters misrepresent the facts (“fake news”) is an attack on the First Amendment ... a rare Dem defense of same.

Since a few conservative states are placing restrictions on abortions, liberal states now are cheering for infanticide laws.


Given this cultural immaturity, maybe next year Trump should endorse whomever the Dems nominate for president ... to insure his re-election?

Living Life

In taped mainstream media sit-downs, nothing is accidental. It is all in the misleading tape editing. It’s only during live TV or radio interviews where the truth can emerge ... which is why you see so few of them. 

Interviews (mis)quoted in the press, magazines or books are reliably bullshit. ... and both these practices are best known by another name, “fake news.”

Watched the recent taped interview of Trump by Stephanopoulos of ABC ... and it included editorial voiced-over comments by Stephanopoulos during the interview cutaways. This is even more dishonest and prejudicial than their misleading tape editing ... but, sadly, is also a common practice of these news media “bulls.”

Sand in the Gears

Unreliable reporting (Fake News) can no longer be used for governmental policy making ... every news item now must be independently verified ... which throws sand into the gears of governance.

X-Ray

I know, I know how many find President Trump's Twitter storms offensive, but what would those lovebirds, Joe and Mika, do to keep their audience glued to their  short snippets of fake news and hysterical commentary sandwiched in among all those commercials? And, of course, many other media "pundits" also echo this same zinger about Trump's AM rantings ... a safe comment ... unlikely to be challenged.

However, I am  a growing fan of these communiques as they let me know exactly what Trump is chewing on ... and, much more importantly, it gives us, who have been dissatisfied with the opaque nature of our governments process, an x-ray view of the possible  malignancies in our government. For much too long, we Americans have been fed the ambergris from that lumbering whale in Washington. The relation of this regurgitated pablum to the truth is too often tenuous . It is a fiction designed to tie together visible events in a way that hides really what is happening.

Thank heavens Trump does not play this media game. As best he can he reveals what really is happening under the surface of the DC swamp. Yes, he does bring his own bias to these tweets, but insofar as they differ from what we are normally allowed to see, they give us, those who care to see, am unique perspective on the possible truth. I don't claim it is the total truth. But it is far more genuine than the chewed-over press releases ... and their media echoes to which we have become accustomed.

Keep up the tweeting Donald! Ignore all those critics who are afraid of a different ... and likely a more informed ... version of the straight skinny. That's just the ignorant rolling around in their ignorance.

Media Matterss

The majority of the American media has long believed that it was the doctor and our political system was the patient. Its diagnosis was infallible. Its treatment plan was not to be questioned ... even if the patient died. This is a very powerful position to be in ... a position likely was not imagined by our Constitution's framers ... since they could not have foreseen the multi-faceted monster that the simple broadsheets of their era would become.

No, dear reader I am not attacking the First Amendment ... it is the most fundamental freedom ...  that is why it is first. However, both the ensuing media technological advancements and court decisions have given our media an extremely powerful voice in defining what is fact ... even if it isn't.  So today, there is ... or should I say, has been ... no balancing force to keep much of the media real. In particular, a series of court interpretations of libel standards makes it almost impossible to seek redress for even outrageous news stories designed to damage the reputation of someone or something. Clearly malicious news is brewed today for political ends and has had no counterbalance until Donald Trump invented "fake news." I believe this term caught on because the public has sensed the unchecked power of the media and welcomed some push back.

No, Trump and others now using this term are not attacking the First Amendment. They are preserving it unless or until our courts strengthen our libel laws. A media ... either liberal or conservative ... that becomes the sole arbiters of truth can lose their way. I believe that we have better reporting today because of Trump despite all the media's squealing. They are squealing not because they have lost their freedom to report ... but because they now have to work a little harder to get it right.
