Leftovers

We all know what if is like to be served the remnants of an over-stocked meal for the third and fourth nights ... particularly if the original dinner was just so-so. You can just warm over mashed potatoes and grisly meat just so many times before it’s tossed out or given to the dog to turn it’s nose up to too.

If you have been reading this blog for any period of time, kind reader, you know where this post is going with this set-up ... yes, Socialism, Communism and other forms of Marxism ... all reheated versions of the same liberal dystopia that the next generation of Bernie Bros keeps trying to dress up with gravy and parsley to feed to us once again.

These equal-outcome ideologies have been tried over and over and over again ... from the Plymouth Colony, to Russia, to Vietnam, to Cuba ... and now Venezuela ... each time to fail miserably ... the misery suffered by the proletariat, not the leaders who had shielded their future with Swiss bank accounts. And each time, the excuse was that “it wasn’t done right.”

Now, we are offered these same leftovers by the power-hungry Democrats ... hoping that their strategy of hiding the sad history of this ideology by tearing these pages out of our children’s history books would allow them to once again run ... and ruin things.

No thanks, Comrade Biden.

Just My Opinion

I hear many say that the people of Iran are good. ... it is just their leaders who are evil. Well, as much as I would like to concur with that rationalization, I can’t. The people of Iran have by their once vote and by their continued complacency allowed their country to become what it is today ... the world’s chief sponsor of terrorism. This is just like the people of North Korea, Russia, Cuba, China, Venezuela, Chicago, New York, Portland and many others have made their corrupt beds and now unhappily are tucked into them.

If a citizenry allows idiot dictators to rule them, then they deserve being pariahs. And yes, dear reader ... anticipating some of your snarky comments ... if I sense that Donald Trump is taking America in an autocratic direction, I will not be an accomplice in such a degradation. And although Trump’s enemies ... including the pipsqueak press and some of you, kind readers, do so avow ... I have yet to sense such a turn.

If such a circumstance presents itself ... and I am sensitive to this possibility because of all the feral abuse that he has suffered, it could be a predictable reaction ... I still will raise my pen in protest.

Bernie’s Flaw

Bernie Sanders has a compelling message for America’s youth — Fidel Castro overthrew the evil Batista regime in Cuba and brought the bright benefits of Socialism to the downtrodden there. And this is what Sanders is promising for America ... and he won’t be a totalatarian like Castro turned out to be.

Sounds good to our naive snowflakes, right? And Bernie has a way of convincing them that he will bring them the upsides of Socialism without the firing squads. A difficult argument for Trump to thwart.

But, what Bernie’s Democrat opponents have neglected to point out ... but, I suspect, Trump will not ignore ... is the following — the United States today is not what Cuba was under Batista ... very far from it. In fact, Trump has moved America dramatically away from this possibility ... reducing our income disparity, bringing employment back onshore  and dramatically reducing federal regulations ... which were Obama’s authoritarian instincts.

So Sander’s campaign promises are, in reality, a solution looking for what is no longer a problem.

Bernie vs. Bloomberg

Trump has indicated that he would rather face Bloomberg in November ... other than Bernie.  This flies in the face of conventional wisdom ... that Bloomberg in many respects is the more difficult opponent ... with his many billions and more moderate positions.

Then why might Trump prefer Bloomberg as an opponent?

Very simple ... it’s a choice between positive and negative political messages. Bloomberg would be running with a “I’m not Trump” message. Whereas Bernie has a transformative message, however poisonous to many ... “We need to become more like Socialist Sweden ...  with free healthcare, free college, free housing, open borders, voting from prison, Green New Deal, etc.”

Bloomberg would be Diet Trump ... many of his same policies except for climate change, gun control and open borders ...  but without the tweets ... too easy a switchover. Whereas Sanders is leading a “movement” ... a movement backed by change ... however distasteful to many of us.

Trump recognizes that a passionate positive message is a tougher challenge than a squishy negative one.

Today’s Poser

Has the Trump administration started weaponizing its intelligence agencies and the FISA court in order to thwart Bernie Sanders’ election ... or, if elected in November, linking him to colluding with Cuba (and maybe Russia?) in order to get elected ... and thus using this to get him impeached?

Wouldn’t that be special?

Hating Trump (another list)

Why do many Democrats and just about all of their candidates for president hate Donald Trump with a passion? Let me count the ways. (Dear reader, if you agree with entries on this list, ask yourself if they are of policy or personality? And which of the two is more important?) Here are many of the hating Trump points:

- He exaggerates (lies) in many of his tweets and pressers

- He often brags on himself

- He fights back ... insulting people and the media who attack him

- His has created too strong an economy

- He thinks that some who honor or hate Robert E. Lee are “fine people”

- He has reversed many Obama “changes” ... like war on coal and pipelines

- His nationalism has caused our allies to stop using us as a doormat

- He has called shithole countries “shitholes”

- He is very patriotic

- He has buttered up many tinhorn dictators (except in Iran)

- He apparently has grabbed females by their pussies (is this another lie?)

- He has embarrassed many NATO members into meeting their financial and troop commitments

- He is trying, against fierce Democrat opposition, to control immigration into the US

- He hasn’t released many years of his tax returns

- He is un-apologetically pro-Israel

- He didn’t conspire with Russia to win the last election

- He was angry with (obstructed?) Mueller for his baseless investigation

- He has put China, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Russia, Venezuela and Syria in boxes

- He wants to keep Democrats from getting back their political power and pelf

- His hair is orange and his ties are too long

Brother's Keeper?

How about 100 brothers?

There is a cockamamie idea bubbling up on the left ... and that is that the United States, in order to stop immigrant caravans from Central America, needs to fix the economies of a El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala ... much like we have slowed the illegal migration from Mexico because of NAFTA.

This lefty rationale is somewhat true. The United States has hollowed out much of middle America in manufacturing in order to help create a middle class in Mexico which, in turn, has reduced the border jumpers from that country.

So, using this as a prototype, our bubble heads on the left argue that we should repeat more of our bloodletting now to lift Central America out of poverty. What then would be next ... Venezuela? Argentina? Peru? Cuba?  Bangladesh? Afghanistan? Where does it stop? Of course, we would then be cursed as being colonialists.

It is now estimated that 1/3rd of all Salvadorans already reside in the United States (along with many MS-13 members and their supporters) ... and, on top of foreign aid, legal and illegal aliens send some $60 billion in remittances back to Mexico, Central and South America annually  ... already significantly propping up many of these corrupt narco-republics.

So what is the limit of our responsibilities to our neighbors ... particularly when it costs so much of our own well being? Amid we end up being hated in the process? Are wee all of these brothers' keeper?

Not if it costs us our country in the process ...
