Today’s Poser

Apparently the National Security Council has had a copy of John Bolton’s book for security review since the end of December. How come that Bolton’s comments about the Trump linkage between Ukrainian aid and its investigating of the Burisma/Biden scandal was leaked to the New York Times and not to Trump’s legal defense team? Is this a perfect validation of the Deep State?

Afterthought: And was this Deep State created when Obama made hundreds of his political appointments into protected civil servants right before he left office?

Media Cabal

A recently revealed New York Times editorial “town hall” meeting dealt with the Gray Lady’s strategy to defeat Trump next year. The gist of this confab was, now that the Russian collusion hit on Trump has failed, the new tact was to paint our president as a RACIST ... see: Slate Story.

This strategy has already been evident in the NYT and much of the rest of the lefty media ... even to the point of abandoning the term RACIST as becoming over-used ... and moving on to the more damning pejorative WHITE SUPREMACIST. This obviously is designed to cut into Trump’s growing popularity with black and Hispanic voters.

I suppose that it is not surprising that the NYT has chosen sides in this political battle. But I am a little taken aback at such open editorial direction for its reporting ... and the implicit coordination with other media outlets.

Trump has survived the Russian collusion cabal between the media and Deep State. Will he survive this one?

Ye Without Sin

“Show me the man and I’ll show you the crime.” — Lavrentiy Beria (Stalin’s KGB Director)

Given all the creepy revelations that have been blanketing our news, it has become increasingly apparent that everyone is guilty of something (ye and me too kind reader) ... or, more likely, somethings.

I know it is a downer but no one is without sin. And, if someone in public life has not been so accused of something, it is likely because that person has not been a sufficient threat to someone higher up ... or, because the accused has something on the potential accuser.

So innocence is only an approximation and the result of imperfect information flows and power flexing. Knowing that someone is likely guilty of something does not mean that they are guilty of a specific malfeasance. So identifying and proving a sin is often the rub. Also such misdeeds, if discovered and proven, are then often forgiven by offsetting good deeds.

So, we are all pretty sure that Donald Trump schtuffed Stormy Daniels and that he might have been fast and loose in some of his real estate dealings. But, was he an asset (aka, a spy) for the Russians during 2016? ... a charge carrying quite a bit of Democrat overreach.  We have been reliably told, after an exhaustive investigation, that he wasn’t. And, with this cloud overhanging, he still has been all out trying to fix things for Americans after a generation of our folding like a cheap suit to the rest of the world.

But one can bet money that Mueller’s full 400 page report will be chock-a-block full of innuendo on Trump and those around him. It was a collaboration of 16 Trump haters after all. And, even after redacted by Barr, Rosenstein and even Mueller himself, I am certain that the full text will eventually leak ... probably through the New York Times. So, dear reader, we sinners will surely see more dirt on The Donald. And sinless Adam Schiff and Maxine Waters will be the first to pick up some stones.

But treason? Impossible!

Diagones

I have ben surfing the liberal media trying to find an honest Trump accuser who, after some soul searching, has had an change of heart in response to Mueller’s exoneration of Trump in the fake Russian collusion charges. You would think that, given Trump’s clean bill of health, some stand-up Democrat would realize that it might be a good idea to get contrite and on the right side of history ... maybe some recently-elected representative from a purple district?

Despite scant evidence of such clear-eyed honesty, I have found only one liberal who has sidled up to this embarrassing moment — David Brooks, opinion writer for the New York Times. He has conceded that the media needs a little self-examination as a result of the Mueller findings ... see: NY Times OpEd.

But I don’t expect a tsunami of such half-hearted attempts at honesty.

Afterthought:  The Mueller witch-hunt was really not in vain ... the Dems did win the House last Nov.

October Surprises

Midterm elections are coming! One can reasonably be sure that the Democrats have one or more tapes or documents that impinge once more on President Trump and his supporters in hopes of flipping the House of Representatives to the party of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. Once this happens then impeachment is on the calender and the leftover FBI/DOJ/CIA scandals will be covered up like cat poop in a litter box. With the assistance of most of the media, the hope will be that any pol aligned with Trump will become radioactive and drown in this blue wave.

So, one must expect lots of juicy dirt to come sloshing on the scene sometime in early October ... maybe a picture of a tumescent Trump in his birthday suit or a set of urine-stained Russian sheets ... or  perhaps the fact that Ivanka is a hermaphrodite ... or that Baron Trump is not Donald's son ... anything goes.

Not so fast Ms. Maddow and Mr. Acosta ... the Donald is still awake and aware. What could he do to insure that his supporters are elected and reelected? There is one thing he might carry off to reverse this donnybrook ...  he could declassify all the pertinent DOJ, FBI, CIA and Obama White House document that tell the sordid story behind the deep state's efforts to keep him from being elected and, once elected, to emasculate him and subvert his agenda. There are rumors that these documents are already going through declassification ... so don't be surprised if this does in fact come about.

Of course, since the media are likely to ignore such bombshells, the Trump team will still have the problem of getting this message to the American people. Leaks might work ... maybe through  Acosta and the New York Times? Or perhaps using Trump's tweets and rallies ... but this would be a logistical  challenge due to the complexity of the message. 30 minute political ads on the major networks? Or how about even an air drop of leaflets over key voting districts? Trump is clever ... he'll find a way.

Tipping Point

The major TV networks and most major print media have been the historic arbiters of what is and is not news. The Internet and talk radio have been gradually changing things until we may have reached a tipping point. Right after last November's election, whether or not it was orchestrated, headline news became that Hillary lost because of collusion between Trump and the Russians to rig the election.

Now, eight months later and despite the appointment of a special prosecutor, the evidence is scant to nonexistent that such collusion ever occurred. Attempts to keep this meme alive seem to feel like the fourth weak reverberation in an echo canyon. Yes, Robert Mueller and his dozen Democrat esquires are yet to speak ... and they are bound to come up with something to justify their existence. But, for the nonce, it appears that the strangle hold that these former media giants had on the American psyche has been greatly diminished. The true tipping point maybe yet to come ... but we are surely getting close.

How will we know if this inflection point has indeed occurred? Watch to see if the New York Times stops running as many hit pieces on Trump and the Republicans ... or if it folds its tent instead ...

Thought for the Day

Life was so much simpler when the New York Times and the Washington Post told us what to think. Today, with the Internet (and the discrediting of these newspapers), we are deluged with so many opinion cross currents, new data points and misinformation that we are being forced to think for ourselves. This is something that too few people are comfortable doing.

Kick that Ball

The New York Times, the Washington Post, the lovers on MSNBC's Morning Joe, CNN, the list goes on and on and on ... the newsmakers and the fake newsmakers (mostly late-nite TV) ... almost to a person are calling our current president unbalanced (aka, crazy). These accusations arise lately out of Trump's tweeting that our former president, Obama, had his phones tapped at Trump Tower right before the election.

Until we know the source and veracity of Trump's accusations against our former president, there really is no basis for calling Trump crazy ... other than loyalty to Obama, a known craven corrupter and Deep State conniver. In the meantime, I believe that much of the media's calling Trump nutso is, in and of itself, unbalanced.

Like Charlie Brown continuing to believe that Lucy won't snatch away the football at the last moment before he kicks it, the lefty media does acknowledge that they continually underestimate Trump. Yet, in this instance, they are certain that he is lying and has finally lost his marbles. So they are confidently taking their next shot at the football.

As Good as it Gets

Like a heart on its way out, the Left is fibrillating over Trump's presidency ... trying any and all analogies to express its dismay over what is happening to our country. Conservatives were equally morose when Obama was elected ... but I don't recall this same apocalyptic ranting. Anyhow, the Left's weaver of word tapestries, David Brooks of the New York Times, has just put forward his vision of how our world is to crumble under Trump's "unhinged" guidance. Rather than settling for pedestrian appraisals of what we are in for, may I suggest the following premier tale-telling: What a Failed Trump Administration Looks Like.

Here is a particularly nasty passage:

The first conclusion is obvious. This administration is more like a medieval monarchy than a modern nation-state. It’s more “The Madness of King George” than “The Missiles of October.” The key currency is not power, it’s flattery.

The corollary is that Trump is ripe to be played. Give the boy a lollipop and he won’t notice if you steal his lunch. The Japanese gave Trump a new jobs announcement he could take to the Midwest, and in return they got presidential attention and coddling that other governments would have died for.

If you want to roll the Trump administration, you’ve got to get in line. The Israelis got a possible one-state solution. The Chinese got Trump to flip-flop on the “One China” policy. The Europeans got him to do a 180 on undoing the Iran nuclear deal.

Vladimir Putin was born for a moment such as this. He is always pushing the envelope. After gifting Team Trump with a little campaign help, the Russian state media has suddenly turned on Trump and Russian planes are buzzing U.S. ships. The bear is going to grab what it can.

This is as good as it gets in trying to eviscerate the Donald. Are you swayed?

Fake News

President Trump was at Mar-a-Lago this past weekend when a young girl was found unresponsive at the bottom of the swimming pool there. Trump jumped into action pulled her from the pool and performed CPR on this little girl for 45 minutes until a miracle occurred ... she finally coughed up water and came around. She was rushed to the local hospital in Trump's limousine with our president by her side ... and was eventually given an all-clear by the doctors there. Trump stayed at the hospital with her parents overnight until this girl was able to pass all the required neurological tests. Before our president left he gave this waif's parents a check for $50,000 to make sure she received all the needed continuing physical therapy ... and promised to pay for her college education.

On Monday the New York Times and Washington Post reported, quoting unnamed sources, that Trump had abandoned his family for the entirety of this past weekend and was suspected of having a suspicious and inappropriate relationship with an underage Florida girl ... and spending the night with her in a private room. After this minor's parents had discovered this incident, President Trump was reported to have paid them off handsomely.

More "Fake News" News

Here are some news snippets and/or my insights which have recently struck my fancy. Deem them fake news if you wish ... I consider them to be genuine ...

- If the Russians really swung our election with their hacking ... and Putin was personally involved ... wouldn't these revelations by our intelligence agencies compromise their "sources and methods" to the Ruskies? If the Obummer administration is willing to pay this high a price for dubious political gain, then they are really a bunch of doofuses. If not, then it must be just more liberal fake news.

- Hillary, at a recent holiday gathering, seems to have aged 20 years following the election of Trump. But her appearance for the debates was masterful. I wonder who did her makeup then? A mortician?

- During the recent Jill Stein recounts, 37% of Detroit voting machines did not have meter counts equivalent to actual ballots cast. One such machine had an indicated tally of 306 votes ... but when the machine was opened, it only contained 50 actual ballots. (Obviously the same ballots were run through multiple times.) These voter-fraud revelations caused the Michigan Democrat party to call off the recount with beet red faces.

- Is there such a thing as a right-wing Internet fact-checking site? The four major supposedly "no-partisan" fact checkers: Snopes, Factcheck.org, Politifact and Washington Post's Fact Checker ... all are so loaded with liberals that one can easily predict their responses regarding conservative revelations ... must be "fake news." Now, Facebook is stepping into this one-sided game with its own set of moonbats to negate the views from the other side. Who, in the end is going to check the fact checkers?

- The US employment rate's denominator is based upon not all working-age people but only upon those "looking for work." This statistic was "adjusted" late in Bill Clinton's presidential term ... which obviously artificially inflated this key statistic ... and thus deflated the unemployment rate.  If calculated the old way, the unemployment rate today would be over 9% not the 4.6% as currently reported. Is the unemployment rate an example of fake news? As governments control the reported statistics, they then control the news.

- The New York Times is vacating 8 floors of its headquarters on Times Square. Perhaps the NYT has another 5-10 years? I understand the Clinton Foundation was looking to rent this space ... until the recent election that is (just joking ...).

- If hate crimes are reported only on social media, but not by calling 911 ... then the chances of them being hoaxes is quite a bit larger ... because reporting a hoax on 911 can result in criminal consequences whereas using social media is generally without repercussions. Tip of the hat to
Howie Carr for this idea.

Afterthought: Much of the incentive for genuine fake news is the ad revenue received therefrom. Sites that don't contain ads or that don't pay for premium placement in searches (like this one) have much less reason to create or pass on so-called fake news or hyper-biased opinion.
