Shorter Days
As the year progresses into fall and winter, I am becoming increasingly annoyed with the lesser amount of our daylight. Whereas a few months ago, daybreak would be before 5 AM, now it is after 6 AM. Why can’t our government and the EPA do something about this? If we can send a man to the moon, we should be able to remedy this simple problem. Can we put a tax on darkness so that there is less of it? Perhaps we can convene a Paris conference to bring all nations together to decide how the United States is going to save our daylight? What does Daddy Barack Obama, Uncle Joe Biden and Auntie Elizabeth have to say about this scourge?
We need to educate our children about the penalties derived from shorter days! Less play time.... more meager crops. We need our kids to march on Washington with their teachers to demand that Trump do something about things. He has promised other stuff, so why is he conspiring to make us have less daylight? Can’t he use some of his billions to make to sun come up and go down when we want it to? Any reasonable cost-benefit analysis would suggest that, if it even sends our nation trillions of dollars further into debt, it would be worth it. It would treat us and the rest of the world to benefits beyond the debt we incurred.
Those opposed to increasing our daylight claim that is is due to the tilt of the Earth causing our seasons. Balderdash! This is all conservative propaganda! 98% of scientists say that, if this were man-made ... it can be man-corrected. It is well beyond time we need to save all the birds who die flying south in the fall to stay warm. SAVE THE BIRDS!
Are you listening Al Gore? Time to step up again and save personkind!

Malthus
221 years ago Thomas Malthus predicted that the world will populate itself faster than its ability to produce food and would result in a population crisis ... see: The Intelligent Economist. Needless, this Malthusian Theory didn’t come about. The world’s population has increased over seven-fold since Malthus’ time ... yet in much of the world there is a surfeit of sustenance.
Seems other prognosticators find fame making equivalent Chicken-Little forecasts. Actually, Al Gore recently received the coveted Malthus Trophy ... which he proudly displays in one of his Mc-mansions around the world.

Highest Temperature Records
Since the press focuses on individual temperatures to agitate for global warming, I thought that a listing through time of highest temperature at various US cities might give one a feeling for whether we really are getting hotter. Please click on these links, scan the record high temperatures at these American cities and then make up your own mind if Al Gore is a charlatan:
Boston: 1893 to present
New York City: 1870 to present
Chicago: 1942 to present
St. Louis: 1893 to present
Dallas: 1914 to present
Los Angeles: 1914 to present
Are you now still a Chicken Little?

Greenland Glaciers
One fact used by climate hysterics to panic the masses is that Greenland glaciers are melting ... and this melt water will swamp low-lying areas around the world. Well, what we haven’t heard is that this Greenland warming AND cooling is cyclical over a five to twenty year period ... AND Greenland glaciers are growing again ... see: The New American Article.
You see Chicken Little, climate change is a little more complicated than the alarmists like to tell you. So you can rest easy for the next five to twenty years ... at which point Al Gore may have changed his tune to global cooling (caused bu man-made CO2?)

Sunspots
Climate scientists are sounding a warning. But this time it has to do with global cooling. It seems that lack of sunspots, like now, are a reliable predictor of lower global temperatures ... see: Daily Mail Article.
What? I thought that CO2 was the only driver of climate change? (Now it is sunspots ... and there are many others.)
Now, in order to save us from freezing, Al Gore, Barack Obama Jerry Brown and 97% of climate scientists are now pushing for more fossil fuel usage to increase CO2 to counteract our dimming sun. This we will have to do anyway to burn to help us warm our homes.

Determinism
When I first started out programming computers, they were deterministic ... meaning a set of operations would always produce the same result. Somewhere along the way, I think when timesharing computers were introduced, they became stochastic ... meaning an element of randomness was introduced. (The technical reason was that processes became interrupt driven.) Now, working on this IPad, I can perform the exact same action twice and get different results. This is maddening. We humans desire predictability. We want to know that pushing this button makes the doorbell ring and not just sometimes ... while at others, it turns on the window fan.
So, recognizing what is deterministic and what is stochastic is important in life. Controlling a nuclear reactor with a computer that was not deterministic would be quite dangerous. While saying that weather ... or climate .... was deterministic would be foolish ... there is too much randomness involved ... much more so with climate than with weather.
However, human nature being what it is, we dislike a stochastic future. So we invent soothsayers and palm readers and oracles ... and economists. We allow some charlatan like Al Gore to assure us as to what the unmeasurable global temperature will be in ten years and give him and his acolytes trillions of dollars to fix things. Of course their predictions were well off the mark ... and they are not going to give us our money back. "It's the next ten years!"
So kind readers, today's lesson is to learn to distinguish between deterministic and stochastic processes. And if someone tries to tell you that a stochastic process is deterministic, keep your hand on your wallet.

Topsy Turvy
Al Gore now says that all our extremely frigid weather is all because of global warming ... see: Climate Depot Story. Joe Scarborough is rolling his eyes and foaming at the mouth as he declares President Trump to be crazy. Kim Jong-un is making nice-nice with South Korea suggesting that the North might take part in the upcoming Winter Olympics there. California Governor Jerry Brown, in the midst of the marajuana purple haze that is now enveloping his state, has established his own immigration laws. Meryl Streep had no idea that Harvey Weinstein was the perviest of pervs. He was "a god."
Is the world losing its collective mind? Is down now up and versa visa? Are we all now topsy turvy?

Saving Face
It is becoming increasingly clear that, not only is global warming not the bugbear that many have made it out to be, but that we may in fact be entering a period of global cooling ... see: The End to the End of Winter. Virtually every dire forecast that was made by the climate alarmists has failed to transpire ... even many years after they were supposed to occur. Their computer models are so far off the mark that they are worthless ... perhaps because the data they used was fudged to try to make their point. The result is that their drum beating is increasingly being ignored by the people of the world. The support for the Paris Accord came mainly from those countries which were destined to garner financial benefit from this wealth distribution red herring.
Even the semantic shift to "climate change" and "extreme weather" has not convinced many that we are on the brink of a carbon dioxide Armageddon. So what is to happen to all the Chicken Littles who have been trying to panic the rest of us into massive environmental and economic adjustments ... will they be shamed into the shadows? Perhaps we should find a way of allowing them.... Al Gore, Hillary, many in the British royal family, BHO, Angela Merkel, Emanuel Macron, tree huggers around the world, most of the U.N., and 97% of climate scientists ... to save face? Should we allow them to back away gracefully from many of their outlandish claims?

Super Silly Science
In the old Marvel comic books, when Superman missed a key event (like Lois Lane's death), he would soar into space and, by flying ultra fast east to west, make the world spin backwards to cause time to reverse ... so that he could then rescue things. Independent of the implausibility of this super event, how still very silly. The rotation of the Earth is represented by the time on clocks, but the time on clocks does not control actual time ... a totally independent phenomenon.
But the fact that Marvel Comics could convince millions of readers that Superman could pull off this scientifically-impossible event demonstrates how very maive is the collective public's science understanding. Enter left, Al Gore.
