Moral Purity

It is wonderful to die for a cause ... any cause! — Voltaire’s tutor

In a perverse sort of way, one has to admire our younger generations who are violently agitating for our moral purity: no more bad cops, no venerating of statues to those who owned slaves or tolerated slavery, compassionate remediation for the income disparities that exist is our country today, hatred for those living a life of white privilege, denying anyone in the world immigration entry into our despicable country, keeping otherwise peaceful minorities incarcerated far beyond what their offenses dictate, dictatorial oppression of peaceful protest. ... even if they involve looting or arson.

All these national injustices need to be remedied ... immediately, no backtracking! “Else we will burn the system down!” All the while conveniently ignoring hundreds of other injustices of equal or greater consequence.

Yes, this naive idealism is kinda admirable ... if misdirected and dangerous ... as a result of indoctrination by ivory-tower pedagogues who have never lived a life that would belie their own fuzzy-headed [im]moral sophistry.

Why Trump Won

- He is genuine in thought and action

- He is a patriot and loves his country

- He identified many issues* that were being ignored by our betters

- He promised to fix them ... and the voters believed him

- He said he would make America great again

- He knew that Washington was corrupt to the core

- And promised to “drain this swamp”

- He identified our fake media ... something that many suspected

- He wasn’t Hillary

* uncontrolled immigration, unfair trading pacts, anemic economic growth, Chinese hegemony, pointless international nation building, tolerance of terrorism at home and abroad, NATO slackers, climate change hoax, Obamacare disaster, liberal courts, insane Iran nuclear deal, North Korea nuclear and missile problems

Today’s Poser

Could our far Left (ANTIFA, Black Lives Matter, the Tribe, Gov. Inslee, Mayor Frey, etc.) have a hidden agenda ... to discourage immigration by turning America into just another third-world hell hole?

Human Nature

Life is full of trade-offs. One stays another 15 minutes on the exercise bike in order to work off last night’s dessert. Or, one spends an extra $10 to drive to work instead of taking the bus in order to listen to the drive-time news.

And trade-offs are even more complex when weighed by governments. Can citizens tolerate much higher utility bills in order to reduce the use of fossil fuels to generate electricity? Or can road maintenance be short-changed so that retired pensioners can continue to be paid?

These are economic trade-offs ... but there are also social trade-offs. Can abortion be encouraged at the cost of having to hype immigration to maintain a nation’s population? Or, more topical, can a city insult its minority population with a stop-and-frisk policy in order to save many of their lives and many more wounded? Would one rather be insulted or shot? Strangely, today, many politicians maintain that their minority populations prefer the latter.

So, kind reader, when one sees political trade-offs being made, be they economic or social, that seem illogical ... one can assume that there are other motivations beneath the surface that are influencing these silly decisions.

Such is human nature.

Reconciliation

If Trump keeps winning ... on trade, on employment, on the economy, on immigration,  on NATO, on the climate, on Russia, on Hong Kong, on the stock market, on impeachment(?) ... then there will be an even greater divide ... between the never-Trumpers and those of sound mind.

The problem persists: How do we bring these two factions back together? I have a suggestion ... we need to have a month of reconciliation! Maybe it’ll take a year? Anyway, during this period, the progressives will be given a chance to confess their sins to AG Barr ... wire tapping, phony dossiers, cut-outs, pay-for-play foundations, voter fraud, political dirty tricks, set-ups of naive campaigners, perjury, spying on political opponents, destruction of incriminating evidence (like 33,000 emails), soliciting graft, selling 20% of US ‘s uranium to the Ruskies ... maybe some out-of-statute-of-limitations Arkancides.

Then, after all these reconciliation confessions have taken place, the DOJ can drop the hammer on all these reprobates.

The Truth

President Trump has been very effectively painted by the media as a serial liar (something like 13,000 lies since he took office) ... when, in fact, he is possibly the greatest truth-telling politician of our lifetimes. That is why he is president and has such adoring crowds. It is the media liars who refuse to recognize this truth (and his truths.)

Here are a few of Trump’s truths:

- American leaders have allowed China to steal us blind over the last 30 years

- The American economy could be a lot better

- The US needs to have the best military in the world

- Our judicial system too often creates laws, does not interpret laws

- Many European allies have stepped back and let the U.S. carry the majority of the responsibility for keeping the world safe

- The United States will never be a Socialist country

- Spending our treasure and the lives of our youth to “fix” other nations is foolish

- Global warming is a gigantic scam

- Washington is a swamp filled with too many self-serving and often dishonest bureaucrats

- Republican campaign colluding with Russia was a media/Deep State attempted cabal

- Russia under Putin is a bad actor ... but it can be useful in countering China and the radical Muslim threats

- Nations without borders are not nations

- Patriotism and respect for our flag is not a sin

- Much of our media dispenses “fake news” shaped by Liberal politics

- Immigration, even large immigration, is good only if controlled and selective

- Iran and North Korea are dangerous enemies and need to be put in a box

- There are a number of other despotic nation’s around the world which are not our friends but, nonetheless, need to be dealt with so that they don’t become our enemies

- Israel and Great Britain are our closest natural friends and need to be treated as such

- The UN is a very expensive, yet ineffective “world government”

- Liberal-run cities ate generally failing their citizens

- Blacks and Latinos have been ill-served by their Democrat masters

ENOUGH?

Snobbery

The base-line reason for all the spittle-flecked aversion to Donald J. Trump as our president is, let’s be frank, snobbery. The elites on both US coasts cannot abide that Americans in fly-over country have gained the upper hand ... and no longer accept their self-serving decisions on immigration, trade, energy, race relations, managing our economy and foreign affairs. This upstart Trump knows not of the way things are supposed to be ... and so he, along with his long ties and orange hair, needs to go back to reality TV and let his betters run things ... back to the way they used to be ... when they got the cake and middle America got the crumbs.

Trump’s Reality

American political divide today boils down, pretty much, to those willing to live in President Trump’s reality ... and those who refuse to do so. The dissonance often occurs in the way that Trump communicates his world view ... spiced with bravado and, sometimes, harsh invective. This style, frequently communicated via Twitter, rubs many the wrong way and, to resolve this discomfort, they reject his reality out of hand. Big mistake.

This rejection then compounds their foolishness ... because they are forced to grow more and more semantically convoluted in their inane rationales for their resistance. We are told Trump has lied 12,000 times ... so his reality must also be false. How are these many lies possible? Does he lie when he states his name or what he had for dinner? We are told he is a white supremacist when his popularity with blacks and Hispanics grows daily. We are told he is anti-semantic while his son-in-law and daughter are Orthodox Jews. We are told he is growing senile when his schedule would daunt a much younger man. All these accusations are part of the strained rejection of his reality.

Trump’s reality on immigration, world trade, American exceptionalism, Islamic terrorism, nuclear threats, global warming, race relations, etc. are a whole lot closer to middle-America’s psyche than his opposition. This is why many Democrat presidential candidates have staked out such extreme positions ... just to demonstrate how opposed they are to Trump’s views. Big mistake. They are out on a limb of their lack of policy reality ... and Trump has saw in hand.

Hearts and Minds

Many celebs infected with Trump Derangement Syndrome need to understand how their heated rhetoric may affect what the White House is trying to do vis-a-vis our China trade war, North Korea denuclearizing, Iran normalization, fixing immigration, radical Islamic and domestic terrorism, economic growth, Russian neutralization, etc. Do these overly exorcised people really want our country to fail in these efforts?

I am not suggesting that these spittle-flecked ranters need to kiss Trump’s ring ... but perhaps they could resist their baser instincts for a trice ... and try to stay out of the banner headlines. I doubt if this continued fulminating is the way for them to win the hearts and minds of the majority of American people.

Slow Walk

“There are no golden moments.” — Tom West

It seems that almost everything is in a slow walk these days:

USMCA (NAFTA 2.0) ratification

North Korea and Iran denuclearizing

China trade deal

Fully fixing (or replacing) Obamacare

Securing our Mexico border and immigration reform

European trade dealings

Reduction of the national deficit

Some of this sloth is politically inspired by next year’s election. However, President Trump seems to have taken most of these delays in stride. He is showing remarkable patience and little frustration. Remarkable!

Perhaps building skyscrapers always involves frustrating delays ... so Trump has gotten used to the perpetual slow walk ...

Reverse Psychology

Rush Limbaugh pointed out something today that is so obvious that it is a wonder that we haven’t noted it before ... viz, whatever Trump is for, Democrats are against ... and whatever Trump is against, Democrats are for. This used to be jokingly how a parent could control an unruly child ... by using reverse psychology. “Don’t you eat that spinach!” “Please make sure you leave your room a mess.” And so forth.

So ...

If Trump wants to control immigration with a wall, Dems campaign for open borders.

If Trump wants better relations with Russia, Dems do a u-turn from their traditional fifth-column-ism and accuse him of being a Putin “cock holster.”

Dems are suddenly concerned with Trump’s national deficits after eight years of their own fire-hose spending.

Because of tax cuts, Trump’s economic miracle is just a continuation of Obama’s recovery.

Trump’s pointing out how many times reporters misrepresent the facts (“fake news”) is an attack on the First Amendment ... a rare Dem defense of same.

Since a few conservative states are placing restrictions on abortions, liberal states now are cheering for infanticide laws.

Given this cultural immaturity, maybe next year Trump should endorse whomever the Dems nominate for president ... to insure his re-election?

On His Plate

President Trump has had to address so very many items that his predecessors chose to ignore. Here are just a few of the unsavory things he found on his plate on inauguration day:

- North Korean nuclear threat

- Grossly unfair trade relations with China and the EU

- Broken immigration laws, law enforcement and policies

- Run-away big tech and its insidious invasion of our privacy

- An untamed ISIS caliphate in Iraq and Syria

- Venezuelan economic and social decay

- Sluggish economic growth driven by bad tax laws and over regulation

- NAFTA’s  hollowing out of American industrial base (inc. steel and aluminum)

- NATO financial and forces slackers

- American armed forces reconstruction

- Activists US judicial system (inc. Supreme Court)

- Iranian nuclear threat and its sponsorship of worldwide terrorism

- A grossly biased American media

- Russian and Chinese worldwide hegemonic mischief making

- And many, many more ...

And, all the while, Trump, as he was addressing this unappetizing fare, was being spit on by the Deep State, the media ... and the Mueller Russian investigation.
