President Hothead ...
... cools it down. Last night Iran launched missiles at Iraqi bases housing American soldiers which killed and injured no one. This seems a calculated charade designed to save face. Iranians are very proud people ... so prideful that they would risk destroying themselves to prove themselves manly.
One could liken this possible ruse to a participant in a duel first shooting into the ground. Once President Trump realized what Iran was doing, however risky, he proclaimed, “All is well.” In other words, you have displayed your masculinity and regained a measure of your pride ... now I will step back and see what you do next. If the ayatollah is satisfied with this charade, Trump unlikely will respond in force. He, known as an unpredictable hothead, seems satisfied with cooling things down. He has unloaded his bazooka and seems to want to see what Iran does next.
Perhaps, this bunch of testosterone-crazed mullahs will now be finally ready to sit down and negotiate a real nuclear treaty ... and stop their reign of terrorism? Wouldn’t that be nice ... and a real win for Trump’s foreign policy.
Afterward: Just read the Diplomad’s take on things. He has an even more interesting spin ... the Iranians actually gave up Soleimani ... see: The Diplomad.

Letter of the Law
Forty-seven Republican Senators sent a letter to the Ayatollah in Iran last week that undermines President Obama's negotiating position vis-a-vis the current nuclear talks ... only insofar as it pointed out the obvious Constitutional issue. And that is ... if the Obama administration strikes an executive deal with Iran to try to rein them in relative to acquiring atomic weaponry, that this deal does not have the binding status of a treaty unless 2/3rds of the United States Senate ratifies it.
And clearly, if this is a bad deal, then there is no chance that the Senate would so vote. This is the law of the land ... and a hard fact that the executive branch of the U.S. government seems to be ignoring in its infatuated dealings with the criminal regime in Tehran ... dealings so starry-eyed and desperate that a bad deal seems highly likely.
This letter unleashed a Democrat and fellow-traveler firestorm ... accusing these letter-signers of treason and sedition. The unfortunate part of this dust-up between the Democrats and Republicans is that, if these negotiations come up empty, then most of the media will once again blame the Republicans ... rather the naïveté of our Secretary of State John Kerry and the fecklessness of the current administration. Apart from this, my major issue with this letter is that not all 100 Senators endorsed it ... even after the fact. That would have been a noble and defining moment ... finally pointing out to Emperor Obama that we have a government of checks and balances.
And there is a parallel incident of an Obama executive nullification that all of these media talking heads (with their hair on fire) seem to have forgotten. That was when our fearless leader went back on the agreement that George W. Bush had struck with Poland and the Czech Republic to place anti-missile shields on their lands ... shields that would have helped to protect Europe and the United States against Russian and Iranian ICBM's. Alas, what short and convenient memories our lefty media always seems to have.

The Ayatollah is a Neocon?
Zbigniew Brzezinski was on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” for about the twentieth time since his daughter Mika took over as co-host (with Joe Scarborough). As always, he opined mainly about world geopolitics concentrating on, or course, Iran. During this pedantic pontificating he labeled the Ayatollah (or, as Obama calls him, "Supreme Leader") and his henchmen as “Iranian neocons” … not just once but numerous times. This sly semantics of the left unfortunately went unchallenged by the former Republican Representative from Florida, Joe Scarborough, and, more understandingly, the rest of this show’s mostly left-leaning talking heads (including Boston's erstwhile plagiarist, Mike Barnicle). Now, if the MSNBCers can get away with this linguistic slight-of-hand once, they will surely try to drum this notion into the heads of the few thousand viewers that they draw to their other left-wing propaganda podia-ists – Chris Mathews, Rachel Maddow, and Keith Olbermann. I also predict that we will eventually see this smear hung on the neocons by network television, CNN, and most of the print media. Now, here are the things that an alert Joe Scarborough should have said the first time Zbigniew uttered this insidious affront:- our neocons did not impose a religious agenda on the U.S.
- our neocons did not brutally repress political speech or civilian assembly
- our neocons were freely elected … not governing as a result of a political coup
- our neocons had no private army (such as Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and the Quds)
- our neocons did not censor the media nor exile foreign correspondents
- our neocons did not sponsor worldwide terrorist activity
- our neocons did not threaten to annihilate Israel (or even the Axis of Evil)
- as far as I know, our neocons did not murder their political enemies
Finally, one should always remember that Zbigniew Brzezinski was our National Security Advisor under Jimmy Carter … when we made such a dog’s breakfast out of our relations with Iran. He just might still have a hidden-agenda reason to deflect criticism from his own historic failings.
