New Newspeak

Sometimes I, like George Orwell, believe that liberal brains are mis-wired and they are “unable to process.” It seems that they have an uncanny way of offering up arguments that, by their mystical quality, sound possible ... but fall apart upon closer inspection. The following is a comment on a recent blog post here that has Swiss cheese holes all through it:

People yearn for simple ways to describe complex issues. In the political realm, unlike science, the simplest solution is too often a short term fix, which fails in the long run due to those pesky unintended consequences.

This is Trump's appeal: He offers simple solutions. A Wall to stem illegal immigration, Tariffs to punish China, Hydroxychloriquine, cancelling Treaties, on and on. The ramifications of his actions are beyond his ability to process. It will take a long tome to fix the mess he has created.”

 A few observations:

- William of Ocean did not say the his “razor” only applied to science. He obviously meant that the simpler solution applied across the board.

- How does this commenter know that Trump’s solutions will fail in the long run ...  does he have a Magic 8 Ball? And does his observation imply that they are working at least in the short term? The wall and Trump’s standing up to China are seminal events that, I predict, will make the history books.

- Trump’s jettisoning of the Paris Climate Accord and the Iran Nuclear Deal was legit because they were NOT treaties since they had never been ratified by Congress. The remake of NAFTA WAS ratified by Congress.

- Are these Biden solutions also short-term: the Green New Deal, huge tax increases, open borders, eliminate cash bail, defund the police, no fracking, Medicaid for All (including illegals), more regulations, gut our armed forces, eliminate prisons, rewrite our history, more regulations, voting from prison, scuttle tariffs, Socialism, etc.?

Bottom line: With many of these cockamamie Democrat proposals, there is no long-term ...

Today’s Poser

Do Democrats, who insist on open borders, have any notion what this would mean during a pandemic such as we might now be experiencing?

(So asks my wife ...)

Liberals

The following groups catch in my craw (whatever that is):

- Socialists/Commies
- Gun Grabbers
- Climate Chicken Littles
- America Lasters
- “Reproductive Righters”
- Diversity Pollyannas
-Tax and Spenders
- Safe-Space Snowflakes
- ANTIFAs
- Deep Staters
- Race Baiters
- Gender Benders
- Statue Iconoclasts
- The Soros Mob
- Globalists
- Interventionists
- Open-Borderites

And, amazingly, all these poltroons often are packaged together under the stolen and misused term Liberals (I could have said Democrats) ...

The Warren Doctrine

Socialism is good ... should be adopted

Eliminate private healthcare insurance

Healthcare and college education should be free

Forgive all outstanding $1.6 trillion of student loans

Impose a 5% annual tax on wealth over $50 million

Facebook, Twitter, Google and Amazon should be broken up

Open our borders to all and eliminate ICE

Global warming is real ... we must get rid of fossil fuels.

Reparations should be paid to all black slave descendents

Gun control is essential even if this means restricting the 2nd Amendment

Transgender illegal immigrants must be welcomed

Criminal justice reform must be expanded

[Notice anything not addressed in the above?]

Semantic Pirouettes

Representative Elijah Cummings was on This Week with George Stephanopolous today and was asked if Trump was a racist. He answered “Yes” ...  then a few minutes later said, “I never call anybody a racists.”  Is this not a semantic pirouette?

Democrats swear they are not against open bothers ... then turn around an claim that illegal aliens are not illegal, border agents and ICE are Nazis and should be abolished, advocate sanctuary cities/states, decry a border wall as immoral and want to provide free healthcare to all illegal aliens. They must think we are really stupid! Democrats are full-bore for open borders ... which, combined with a welfare state, is national suicide.

Is the Democrats’ incessant drumbeat of calling Trump a racist because they are concerned with losing more minority voters in .2020? I think so. President Trump has been a very good friend to minorities with his economic, prison reform and development zones ... meaning he should do better next time ... unless this echoing term “racist” sticks. I doubt it will for no other reason than Democrats are so over turning their pirouettes.

Liberals always have a insidious way of disparaging their opposition. But they seldom know when to stop.

Reverse Psychology

Rush Limbaugh pointed out something today that is so obvious that it is a wonder that we haven’t noted it before ... viz, whatever Trump is for, Democrats are against ... and whatever Trump is against, Democrats are for. This used to be jokingly how a parent could control an unruly child ... by using reverse psychology. “Don’t you eat that spinach!” “Please make sure you leave your room a mess.” And so forth.

So ...

If Trump wants to control immigration with a wall, Dems campaign for open borders.

If Trump wants better relations with Russia, Dems do a u-turn from their traditional fifth-column-ism and accuse him of being a Putin “cock holster.”

Dems are suddenly concerned with Trump’s national deficits after eight years of their own fire-hose spending.

Because of tax cuts, Trump’s economic miracle is just a continuation of Obama’s recovery.

Trump’s pointing out how many times reporters misrepresent the facts (“fake news”) is an attack on the First Amendment ... a rare Dem defense of same.

Since a few conservative states are placing restrictions on abortions, liberal states now are cheering for infanticide laws.

Given this cultural immaturity, maybe next year Trump should endorse whomever the Dems nominate for president ... to insure his re-election?

Toothbrushes and Soap

Those poor illegal immigrant children, who have been ripped from their mothers’ arms at our southern border, are all made to sleep on concrete floors and are not given toothbrushes and soap (did they not bring these necessities with them in their trek across Mexico?) Our border patrol are running “concentration camps” where families are kept in cages and are deprived of basic health care ... all by that tyrant President Trump.

I’ve heard these Democrat accusations so many times (just now on NPR) that I have come to treat them as inflated propaganda directed at deflecting the inaction of the Democrat House from dealing with our immigration crisis at the border. For many months Pelosi’s posse denied their was such a crisis ... and now, having been forced to retract this lie, are trying to offload the blame for their inaction.

Somehow I doubt that such “inhumane” actions on the Trump aministration’s part are generally true ... but our media, once given this lead, goes off at a full gallop. Do they send an unbiased reporter to see how many illegal immigrant children are suffering these indignities? Of course not. They’re too good to ignore so let’s go with the allegation that children are being “tortured.”

Latest news is that the House may pass a $4.5 billion emergency appropriation to deal with this crisis ... but have loaded it up with restrictions to tie DHS’s hands ... see: FoxNews Story. To summarize, “If you want to aid the immigrant children Trump, we will help you as long as we can keep and expand our open borders.” Trump may be forced to veto this Trojan Horse.

Such cynical political dreck!

Afterward: one provision of the $4.5 billion Democrat House bill is that there is no money allowed to fund new detention center beds ... what absolute hypocrisy!

Drying-up Puddle

The Dems are angry, very angry. They would turn Washington upside down to get rid of Trump. Hell, they would turn our country upside down just to embarrass our orange-haired leader.

Yes, national polling says that the Dems might be on the cusp of winning in 2020 ... which seems to validate their many proposals: pack the Supreme Court, open our borders, increase taxes, eliminate the Electoral College, allow abortions into the fourth trimester, pay blacks reparations, destroy ICE, implement the Green New Deal, and on and on ... to prevail until we become Venezuela.

The Dems grand plot to make our president an eunuch... Mueller’s Russian collusion investigation  ... has shit the bed. And so, in spittle-flecked desperation, they are asking for an investigation Mulligan. But they seem oblivious to the fact that the American people are becoming bored with these warmed-over conspiracy leftovers. Even though the polls dispute such a conclusion ... we are learning more and more ... like just in Australia ... that polls are sucking wind. The Dems can try contempt of Congress or impeachment of Bill Barr or even Trump ... but they are likely losers.

But somehow I get the impression that all these radical proposals are acts of desperation ... a realization that, if the economy stays as good as it is now ... coupled with a win in North Korea, Iran, Venezuela or China ... Trump will be unbeatable. It’s a little like the Dems are worms caught in a drying-up puddle ... flipping around in the realization of their coming fate.

Please hear me you worms: Robert DeNiro, Jerry Nadler and Adam Schiff? Squirming around in a drying-up puddle is not a winning strategy.

New New World Order

Donald Trump won the U.S. presidency under the banner that championed Nationalism over Globalism. This theme is now spreading around the world .. to the chagrin of the Davos billionaire elites. However, Trump's message carries much more ideology than just the supremacy of nation states over (an unelected) world government. Here are a number of the battles that also define Trump's message ... you decide what side Trump favors:

Open Borders vs. Sovereignty

Global Warming vs.Self-modulating Climate

Capitalism vs. Socialism

Economic growth vs. Stagnation ("New Normal")

Diversity vs. Homogeneity (a tough one)

Populism vs. Authoritarianism

AI vs. Human Cognition  (another toughie)

Freedom vs. Enslavement

Privacy vs. Personal data capture (evolving)

Free trade vs. Fair trade

A Small Poll

At an Independence Day party yesterday I asked the following two questions to a group of nine mostly Democrats and a few Independents. Here are the revealing results:

- Who would like to eliminate ICE?   Zero hands raised

- Who would like to have open borders?  One hand raised (but he clarified that this meant everywhere in the world)

Hmm ...  if these were the results in very liberal suburban Massachusetts, what does this suggest might be the outcome of November's midterm elections? (Unless, of course, the blue-staters do a U-turn between now and then? Nah ... the Dems likely will go further left ...)

The Border Muddle Explained

Watch the above video to begin to understand the purposeful muddle that Obama and Congress had made of our border security.  I am quite impressed with Kirsten Nielsen, our head of Homeland Security and how she is dealing with this mare's nest. But make no mistake ... Obama's diabolical policy of "catch and release" was the bureaucratic equivalent of open borders.

Notice how much the assembled reporters resemble a pack of jackals.

Democrat Manifesto

The Democrat party has moved far left in the last decade ... to a point that would be unrecognizable to the party of JFK or even Bill Clinton. It's as though George Soros has tattooed his manifesto on the donkey's rump. However, not all recent Blue candidates are using this manifesto as their platform because the smarter ones realize that it is a loser. But, once elected if elected, Nancy Pelosi tells them how to vote.

The question becomes then, how much of this Democrat manifesto will be visible in the next presidential election and maybe even in this Fall's midterm elections? But be mot mistaken, this is the guts of their agenda. So let's get on to what this manifesto contains:

- Single-payer healthcare
- World government
- Destroy the U.S. coal industry
- Increase third-world migration into America
- Higher income taxes (to redistribute wealth)
- Sanctuary cities and states
- "Strategic patience"  (passive foreign policy)
- Open national borders
- Nuclear disarmament or at least unilateral reduction
- Crony capitalism
- Promoting Black Lives Matter and ANTIFA
- Mote government transfer payments (welfare)
- Fewer illicit drug laws and lesser punishments ("sentencing reform")
- Facilitation of illegal voting
- Weaker military
- Removing Civil War (and other historic) statues
- Free higher education
- Diversity quotas and more "inclusion" of hyphenated Americans
- Nullifying the Second Amendment
-Taxpayer funded abortion and birth control
- Free but not necessarily fair (multilateral) trade
- Carbon taxes and much tighter emissions standards
- "Green" energy production at the expense of  fossil fuels
- More government regulations
- LBGTQ and transgender rights advocacy
- Suppression of "offensive" speech

This list is not by a long shot comprehensive ... and they are not all excessively malignant ... but. taken as a whole, they would "fundamentally transform" this country ... if we survive at all.

Imagine

John Lennon wrote a hymn to a perfect world where peace prevailed  and there were no borders defining countries ... see: Imagine lyrics. Clearly, Lennon's vision of utopia must have had some influence on world politics in the years that followed ... particularly in the European Union.

Fast forward some fifty years to the presidential election of 2016 and let's do some more imagining. Can we picture what our country would be like if Hillary Rodham Clinton had been elected? Who would likely be the primary players in her administration? Ben Rhodes? Susan Rice? Jonathan Gruber? James Comey? Sidney Blumenthal? John Brennan? John Kerry? Donna Brazile? John Podesta? James Clapper, Cheryl Mills? Maybe even Bill Clinton himself?

Imagine what the Supreme Court would look like? The FBI? The Department of Justice? The IRS? The EPA? The State Department? The Defense Department? Our representative to the UN? The regulation environment? Even the Clinton Foundation and all its tentacles might still exist ... as might the ISIS caliphate?

We would still be bending over for the environmentalists in the Paris Accord ... or maybe going even further. There would be no tax cuts or a rollback of the Obamacare individual mandate. We would still be in the TPP (no matter what Hillary said during her campaign). We would be even further along toward true open borders and unlimited immigration from third world countries. Jerusalem would not be recognized as the capital of Israel. Economic growth would still be anemic along with the stock market.

There would have been no exposure of all the (illegal?) Democrat shenanigans that took place during the presidential campaign. We would likely have a Democrat Senate and maybe even the House. North Korea and China would still have us kowtowed. Companies would not be bringing their factories back onshore. And many more positive developments would not have occurred.

We would be living in even more of a dystopia than Barack Obama saddled us with. Maybe Ted Nugent should pen a new version of "Imagine?"

Open Borders

"A nation that cannot control its borders, is not a nation." -- Ronald Reagan

A devoted reader, who happens to agree with us that global warming is a scam, however does believe that the United States needs to open our boarders to anyone and everyone who wants to settle here. Now, I can understand and even admire that someone whose ancestors have benefited from past liberal immigration policies, might want to extend such a benefit today to the less fortunate of the world (a number in the billions). However, the U.S. is filling up. We now have hundreds of millions more people than during past immigration surges. And today we also have an incentive almost as powerful as the past immigrant draw, freedom ... lots of free stuff ... free stuff that liberal states love to provide illegally to these newcomers ... whether here legally or not. The impetus to provide this largess too often comes with a quid pro quo -- give us your (often illegal) votes.

We lock the front doors of our homes for a good reason ... because, if we don't, bad actors will likely invade our homes and take what is our family's ... or worse. And since we all want the fruits of our labors to go to our own and we like our charity to be voluntary, not forced, we don't want our neighbors to force us to open our houses to possible mischief or even mayhem. I strongly suspect those advocating for open borders also lock their own home doors. They may want me to leave my portals open, but I chose to ignore them unless they leave their doors open too ... at which point I will be forced to question their sanity ... and mine.

When we do invite people into our homes, I think at a minimum we have to know that:

- this is voluntary and not compulsory
- our guests would not harm us
- they would not steal from us
- they would not be exposing us to disease
- if they are staying, that we have the necessary space and accommodations
- if they are staying, that they would eventually leave if we asked
- if they are staying, that they would be contributing to the commonweal
- if they were staying, they could not invite in others
- and finally, they could not take possession of our home

Cannot we ask the same of immigrants to our country?

Moonbeam's Legacy

Current Napa Valley wildfire

California's mis-governor, Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown is leaving his state in a pretty mess:

- perennial out-of-control wildfires

- thousands of illegal alien felons protected by his sanctuary state

- unsustainable fiscal insanity

- upward spiraling taxes and regulations

- the middle class being driven out of state

- an adversarial relationship with our federal government

- myopic and anti-agriculture water-resource regulations

- narrowly-focused environmental planning

- well-advertised and ill-advised open borders

- political correctness running amok

- standing by for the loss of free speech

- dumbing down of an once-exemplar higher education system

- rampant homelessness befouling the state's major cities

While Our President Slept

The contrast is dramatic. Donald Trump's ability to multitask effectively is quite impressive. His focus and energy are daunting. In comparison, our current much-younger president is lackadaisical by his nature and ideological by his actions ... but I suspect history will judge him even more harshly because of this Trump juxtaposition. Most of the kinetics in the Obummer administration came not from our Teleprompter-in-chief (apparently, his primary function) but instead from his bloated go-get-em staff. He can often sound and look sincere when reading his staff's well-crafted rhetoric. But his indifference to the full spectrum of his presidential duties is often obvious by his body language or lack of action ... and is brought even more into focus by comparison to our new president elect.

Obummer was too often an inattentive president. There is little argument that he would mainly focus on five things: getting back at those whom he saw as oppressors of blacks, open borders, global warming, setting Muslims a place at the table ... and his golf game. Everything else; the economy, entitlement reform, the loss of our middle class, rebuilding our infrastructure, defeating terrorism, strengthening our national defense, reducing government waste, tax reform, regulation reform, etc. seemed to be distractions to him. I don't think he even gave a hoot about health-care reform or free trade These were treated merely as check boxes for his expected legacy. I think if you were to ask him to explain the ups and downs of Obamacare or TPP in detail without his Teleprompter, he would stutter and flounder.

zzzzzzz!

Quote of the Day

The road to hell is paved with open borders. -- Anon.
