Biden Ducks

There were a number of questions that Chris Wallace didn’t ask in the first presidential debate ... or were asked by Trump ... but Biden either ducked or refused to answer. Wouldn’t it be nice if the next two debates filled in this key information void for American voters? But knowing the moderators and venues in these next debates, I don’t believe we will get these questions answered. Here are the Biden posers we voters need to have answered:

- Who, by name, would you appoint to the Supreme Court?

- Do you advocate packing the Supreme Court?

- Have you used a teleprompter is any of your pressers?

- If unsolicited mail-in voting is shown to be fraudulent, will you condemn it?

- Would you push to scuttle the Electoral Collage?

- Were you aware of and participated in Operation Crossfire Hurricane?

- Would you like to eliminate the filibuster in the Senate?

- Why did your son, Hunter get $3.5 million from the wife of the former mayor of Moscow?

- Will you implement AOC’s Green New Deal in its entirety?

- Are you taking any prescription medications to enhance your mental acuity?

- Do you advocate statehood for Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia?

- Will you now denounce Antifa and BLM anarchy?

- Are you prepared to shut down the economy again?

- Will you take the Covid vaccine when it is passed by the FDA?

- Would you eliminate tariffs on China ... and elsewhere?

Just for starters ... more than enough to investigate in three more hours of debate. ... or in future pressers. And, if one were honest, there are not many such embarrassing questions that have not been asked of  the Orangeman.

Afterthought: Chris Wallace is certainly sharp enough to have pressed Biden on a few of the above questions? What does the fact that he didn’t suggest about Wallace?

Reflections

In an April media interview, Biden held up a picture which inadvertently reflects his teleprompter ... see: Breitbart Story. What are this man’s nursemaids going to do to get him through the first debate? A body double?

Biden 2020

From Woodsterman blog

From Woodsterman blog

Biden even has to read his answers from his teleprompter to pre-arranged questions to simulate a press availability ... see: Powerline blog entry. And our media is complicit! Don’t they realize what they are doing? Electing this shadow of a man as our president would be surely suicidal!

Cold Hard Reality

Barack Obama was a corrupt, pro-Muslim, pro-China, pro-Russia, pro-Iran, anti-American, Reggie Love-loving president ... whose major talent was reading a TelePrompter with conviction.

While Our President Slept

The contrast is dramatic. Donald Trump's ability to multitask effectively is quite impressive. His focus and energy are daunting. In comparison, our current much-younger president is lackadaisical by his nature and ideological by his actions ... but I suspect history will judge him even more harshly because of this Trump juxtaposition. Most of the kinetics in the Obummer administration came not from our Teleprompter-in-chief (apparently, his primary function) but instead from his bloated go-get-em staff. He can often sound and look sincere when reading his staff's well-crafted rhetoric. But his indifference to the full spectrum of his presidential duties is often obvious by his body language or lack of action ... and is brought even more into focus by comparison to our new president elect.

Obummer was too often an inattentive president. There is little argument that he would mainly focus on five things: getting back at those whom he saw as oppressors of blacks, open borders, global warming, setting Muslims a place at the table ... and his golf game. Everything else; the economy, entitlement reform, the loss of our middle class, rebuilding our infrastructure, defeating terrorism, strengthening our national defense, reducing government waste, tax reform, regulation reform, etc. seemed to be distractions to him. I don't think he even gave a hoot about health-care reform or free trade These were treated merely as check boxes for his expected legacy. I think if you were to ask him to explain the ups and downs of Obamacare or TPP in detail without his Teleprompter, he would stutter and flounder.

Turnip Truck

In his prepared remarks today about the terrorist's shootings in Orlando, President Obummer said that the reason that the patrons were dancing and drinking at the site of this slaughter, the Pulse gay nightclub, was because they had "come together to advocate for civil rights." What? Had his Teleprompter just had a politically-correct short circuit? Or he, a brain freeze?

Pleeease ... Barack baby ... there isn't a turnip truck still around for us folks to have just fallen off of ...

Trump's Foreign Policy

Too bad that Donald Trump can't read from a Teleprompter with the aplomb of Obummer ... but he did do a credible presentation job yesterday with his basic approach to the foreign policy he would implement as president, I just read an expert on these matters, The Diplomad's assessment and he gives Trump high marks on his approach ... you should read this assessment too ... see: Trump's Foreign Policy Address. There is little I can add to these remarks other than it is refreshing to see Trump's active, forward-leaning foreign policy rather than our current passive, defeatist one.

Social Media POTUS

"The media is the message," so saith Marshall McLuhan. And President Obama gets the message. He now has a staff of around twenty dweebs who keep his image flooding all the social media platforms in order to connect with those who rely on this new communication technology to get their news and opinion ... see: New York Times Story. These message multipliers allow the POTUS (President of the United States) to reach, through stealthy surrogates, a far larger audience for his agenda. Even though he rarely performs these postings, they are made to appear so ... and this lends a super-human panache to our president.

Is this fair? In our new gimmicky world ...  unconstrained by a sense of proportion or priorities ... of course it is fair. NFL teams now charge our government millions to pay tribute, during their half-time shows to our fallen military men and women ... see: Huffington Post Article. So, if nothing is really now what it appears to be ... and our president doesn't write the Teleprompter speeches he performs ...why shouldn't his postings on social media also be an artifice?

Threading the Needle

President Obama has finally let the dogs out … unleashing air strikes against ISIS targets in northern Syria. I happen to believe that this is the right thing for him to do. However, this action is bound to enrage the leftist peaceniks and the rightist libertarians/isolationists. So he has a very delicate job ahead of him in justifying this belligerency. Some are already linking this to the “October surprise” that I had previously mentioned … see: October Surprise. This may be the case, but turning this opportunistic war into the Democrats’ holding onto the Senate is bound to require a bit of legerdemain.

Many in the Democrat base will feel a eerie connection to President Bush if they supposed to vote for their local Congressional candidates in November … and therefore may stay home. Whereas, America-first Republicans (mostly in the contested states) may be even more energized to throw Harry Reid’s band of outlaws out of Senate. So I don’t envy Obama in this political balancing act. Yes, his Teleprompter writers are good politicians and glib wordsmiths … but can they manipulate both these blocs and save the Democrat bacon from this Middle-East conflagration? I am now awaiting our fearless leader's TV address to the nation …

... I just heard the president’s talk. It was short, sweet, and bereft of details. But he did say that Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, and Qatar had joined us in these air strikes (exactly how?) and that that one specifically-targeted group, Khorasan, an al Qaeda affiliated group, was planning an attack against a western interests (whom exactly?). He also said that this was just the start of what would be a sustained series of air attacks on ISIS (at least through election day.)

I also do commend the administration for this recently-assembled Sunni coalition, but believe that would be a lot more important if they were actually sending “boots on the ground” into this area instead of flying next to U.S. F-22s.

Faux Anger

I don’t think I need to reiterate all of President Obama’s management miscues surrounding the Veterans Administration (VA) fiasco. Even some die-hard Democrats are beginning to realize how inept our fearless leader has been in his handling of the corruption, incompetence and cover-ups that seems to have permeate this agency ... six years after he swore to fix things … let alone his numerous other scandals that have arisen due to his terms of lassitude and inattention. Sooo, Obama again reluctantly came out today to put his “I’m mad as hell” lid on his latest administration scandal ... see: Breitbart Story.

The funny part about this faux anger is that Obama can’t seem to get beyond his practiced, glib delivery style. His outrage seems as convincing as his Obamacare promises. He once told Harry Reid that his ability to read from a teleprompter was “a gift.” And for many years it was … it actually got him elected. But his inability to differentiate with his emotions between 40 veterans dying due to VA uselessness … and his pardoning of the Thanksgiving turkey … has turned this “gift” into an oozing leper’s sore. I can only imagine that these hollow words he spoke today in this news conference were but his down payment on another golf game … see: ABC Story

Instead of steam coming out of Obama’s ears, his sad performance today appeared more like a Three Stooges pantomime. Our maimed and infirmed veterans really do deserve better that this cynical charade we were offered..

Gaffe-a-rama

Gaffs
It seems that not only is our fearless leader not well versed in U.S. foreign policy, but his close advisers (the ones who fill his Teleprompter with lots of “let me be clear”s and “you folks”s) are also clueless.  President Obama’s bull-in-a-china shop approach to delicate diplomacy once again displays his naive misunderstanding of recent European history. On his current G7 sojourn, besides his two bone-head boners that I have already pointed out (see: Unfiltered), he has made two other major public gaffes that will force our State Department into explaining away the inexplicable.

Firstly he said that Georgia was not on a path toward NATO membership when it indeed has been petitioning for such protection since 2008. And secondly, our child-President indicated that Kosovo had held a public referendum to break away from Serbia under the aegis of the U.N. … not even close to being true.  For the details of these two additional gaffes see: Breitbart Story.

And these are just his public miscues, God knows how many more he has made in private? I wonder if yesterday he sotto voce told the Pope that he would like to meet his wife?

"Folks"

President Obama’s vernacular use of the term “folks” is beginning to wear on my nerves.  He can’t seem to read three sentences off of his Teleprompter without using this chummy term at least once.  This way of communicating must have been opinion-panel tested as being an excellent way of connecting with his middle-America audience.  And he uses it … and uses it … and uses it … and uses it … to the point of his inanity and my insanity.

Do you think it possible that Obama maybe is just mispronouncing this term of endearment … and he is inadvertently revealing his true feelings toward the great unwashed of America?

A Gift

When asked, before he became President by a fellow U.S. Senator, why he spoke so well from a Teleprompter, Barack Obama replied, “It’s a gift.”  Yes, when reading someone else’s words, Obama was a savant. And he has gotten even better during his years in the White House – his staccato timing, his head bobs, his look-aways, his pursed lips, his pregnant pauses, his upraised chin, his cool demeanor, his well-timed hand gestures – all combine to make him a very convincing seller of his ghostwriter’s words.  His delivery is so special that, even after telling whopper after whopper (witness the recent revelations of all those Obamacare lies), much of the American public keeps nodding in sympathy with his next questionable pronouncement.  (I heard one wag on the radio today say that his Teleprompter needs to be replaced by a lie detector.)

Here is a taste of Obama’s gift for Teleprompter gab? See: YouTube video.

Afterward: The White House talking points which are being repeated in the main-stream media echo chamber say that, although millions of individuals are now losing their healthcare insurance, corporate plans are not affected under Obamacare.  Has everyone forgotten that the corporate mandate has recently been postponed by Obama for one year?  Is this just another fib in the fabric of fibs surrounding Obamacare?

What I Admire about Obama

- His grace on a staircase
- He never closed Gitmo
- His modulation and tempo when reading from a Teleprompter
- His affection for his family
- He OKed the raid that killed Osama bin Laden
- His infectious smile

That's it.

Are We Exceptional?

Russia's President Putin
It’s a jump ball as to who is the bigger egomaniac … Barack Obama or Vladimir Putin.  But my money is on Putin.  He is so self-absorbed that he now feels that he can criticize Americans for believing that we are “exceptional.”  In an op-ed piece in the New York Times, Putin lays out Russia’s case for restraint in dealing with Syria … some of it somewhat rational, if self-serving … see: NY Times Op-Ed.  He clearly has read the polls in the United States and believes that he is half-way home in convincing us that we should not unleash our military might to punish Syria for its alleged chemical attacks.

Perhaps he is right … but then he finishes with a flourish:  He disses Americans for believing that we are exceptional … viz:
And I would rather disagree with a case [Obama] made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation.
Putin’s view, I believe, is also held throughout much of liberal western Europe.  And it is a view that I think President Obama also secretly covets despite the above words he read from his Teleprompter two nights ago.

The question then poses itself – is America exceptional and, if so, what does this mean? I don’t believe that this assertion is braggadocios … I believe that it reflects a certain humble uniqueness for our country ... in that we were founded by men who understood that governments are dangerous and gravitate toward the stifling of freedoms.  Instead of believing that our leaders are chosen by God and then lend to their citizens certain freedoms and largess, they constructed a Constitution that reversed this mandate.  It is we, the people, who are endowed by a higher power with certain fundamental freedoms and then lend to our leaders certain powers to govern … only to the point that they don’t abuse this prerogative … in which case they can be removed.

I can understand why Putin and liberal Europe (and much of the rest of the world) can’t grasp this concept … for they are clearly distancing themselves from this form of exceptionalism.  Europe overall is run by self-appointed bureaucrats who answer not to its people.  Russia has subverted its own Constitution and its election process to the point of ludicrousness.  It is only through a modicum of embarrassed self-control on the part of such leaders that actual dictatorships have not returned in force.  But the table is clearly tilted in that direction.

Which brings us back to the United States. Yes, I believe we have been exceptional.  We have, over the life of our country, often taken up the mantel of saving the world from itself … losing countless lives and untold treasure in the process.  Have we benefited in the process?  Probably … but only a pittance relative to what we have sacrificed.  The real question is: Will we continue to be exceptional?  Have we lost our way and, consequently, given up some freedoms in our attempt to remedy the social ills that invariably creep into societies?  To a degree, yes.  But I believe that the tenets of our Constitution are still a beacon to the majority of Americans … and most of our current backsliding will, therefore, self-correct in time.  After all, we are an exception to the rule.

Out of Africa

One might call it "fiddling while Rome is burning" … or an early case of “senioritis” … or, to use the silly White House term, “leading from behind” … but clearly President Obama is detaching himself from governing (if he ever was attached.)   His extravagant trip (family vacation?) to Africa (see: Breitbart Story) seems to this commentator to be a series of vacuous photo ops and frivolous distractions from important national and world issues.  The many domestic scandals and problems plaguing his administration desperately need his attention … as do the volatile events in Egypt, Syria, Turkey, the European Union, Russia, world-wide central banking systems, etc.  Yet he seems distracted and somehow disinterested … e.g., “I’m not going to scramble jets to capture Snowden.”

Yes Obama is suave … someone who can read a teleprompter as though he knows what it all means.  But he is also the President of the most powerful country in the world (at least in title if not in form) and there are a large number of things that need his attention and leadership: domestic job growth, tax reform, entitlement reform, management of our transition to Obamacare, reduction of our crushing deficits, foreign-policy fibrillation, the threat of growing Islamic extremism, the dramatic increase in student-loan interest rates, our decaying national infrastructure, the scandals plaguing many in his Cabinet, and maybe even immigration reform.  Yet he has really acted on none of these issues.  Yes, he has talked about most of them and made rhetorical promises, but there is a chasm between his talk and his actions.

I am not a historian, but I have a suspicion that Obama is in real danger of becoming the Calvin Coolidge of our time … only as opposed to being labeled Silent Cal (detached and no action), he might be better tagged Blathering Barry (all talk and no action).

The Amoeba

Single-cell amoebas eat by enveloping their prey and then adsorbing them into their bodies (remember your high-school biology microscope lessons?)  Well, one can rightly compare the Obama administration to a giant amoeba … ingesting as much of our societal constructs and business community as it has the leverage and time to accomplish.  The insidious creeping governmental incursions into the auto industry, the student loan industry, eco-friendly energy companies, comprehensive el-hi nutrition, health-care insurance companies, the home mortgage industry, etc. … all exemplify Obama’s increasingly obvious “change” agenda.

But alongside such expansionism, the current administration also seems intent on destroying that which it cannot consume … witness the coal industry, off-shore oil drilling, pipelines, non-union-shop manufacturers … and now Catholic schools (see: Bizpac Review Article).  How can our President attack one of the few institutions, parochial schools, which has been incredibly effective in educating the less fortunate?  Perhaps he just misread his teleprompter?

Along these same lines, one can garner further insights into the Obama administration’s alimentary process by reading the following article: Hoover Institute Opinion.

Ersatz

It was recently reveled that Beyonce lip-synced the national anthem at President Obama’s just-passed inauguration … with the Marine Band pretending to play the associated music … see: Telegraph Story

Let’s see … President Obama reads someone else’s words from his ever-present Teleprompter, Beyonce mimes the Star-Spangled Banner, global-warming data is still being faked (see: Powerline Blog), and Michelle Obama is now sporting a black-banged wig.  Is everything ersatz these days?

Someone please pinch me.  I’m hoping that the last four years were also just make-believe … our huge deficit spending, Obamacare, and the Arab Spring never happened  … and were all just bad dreams.  Perhaps I might also wake up and discover that Mitt Romney is now the President?
