I don’t know if it is still acceptable ... but the way that one used to cure a dog from befouling one’s house was to rub its nose in its “business.” This seems to be the Democrat’s approach to paying for abortions. There is something called the Hyde amendment that forbids public money being used to fund abortions ... the theory being that there is a substantial proportion of US citizenry who resent their tax dollars being used for infanticide.

Now, this is the apparently just symbolism, not the reality. Planned Parenthood, the primary supplier of abortions in America, gets substantial government funds to supply women’s healthcare, like mammograms (which they don’t perform). So, in fact, taxpayers’ money is being used for abortions in another instance of government legerdemain ... a bit of Democrats’ rubbing the religious right’s nose in this mess.

Enter stage left, Joe Biden who has now had to reverse his position supporting the Hyde amendment. In other words, Biden now favors forcing all taxpayers to pay for abortions despite what their moral objections may be. The radical progressives have won another major skirmish ... no matter what the cost during the next election. Planned Parenthood should be able to continue performing their grisly trade on the public dime.

One last thought ... all the gnashing of teeth over the Hyde amendment support or non-support neglects one key point: Planned Parenthood is a charitable organization. If, for some strange reason, the Hyde amendment was actually enforced ... there would be plenty of room for liberal billionaires (like Bloomberg) and millionaires (like Bernie) to step up and donate to it to perform its dark medical arts. But this would be too obvious ... and it doesn’t involve any nose rubbing.

Demographics

Validation

It's nice to see when the points I have made in a blog are validated in a national media article. I made a number of arguments in my take-down of Planned Parenthood recently ... including its misleading claims about its abortion practices and statistics ... see: Pee Pee. Now the Weekly Standard has published an article that validates most of my points in this above-reference post ... see: Weekly Standard Article. In particular these quotes comes directly from this referenced Weekly Standard piece:

PolitiFact concedes the source of this statistic is Planned Parenthood's own annual report. If you take the number of services listed in the report, exclude the ones that don't apply to women who aren't pregnant, you do indeed get a figure that showing that over 94 percent of pregnant women who go to Planned Parenthood get an abortion.

In fact, the stat that only three percent of Planned Parenthood's services are abortion is so misleading, that the editorial board of USA Today has decided it's not credible and they won't use it for the exact same reasoning PunditFact lays out here.

"Some critics have taken issue with Planned Parenthood’s measurement of "services." Performing an abortion is more involved than administering pregnancy tests or giving someone a contraception kit, for example. The share of abortions might be different if cost or hours of services were used. (However, that information is not in the 2013-14 annual report.)"

Pee Pee

Planned Parenthood (Pee Pee) just won a cloture vote on its federal defunding in the Senate ...with only two Democrats voting "aye" ... see: Huffington Post Article. And Hillary Clinton has now decided to take a position supporting the selling of fetal body parts by this abdominal abortion factory. Oh, I know that Planned Parenthood claims that 97% of its activities are not performing abortions. But let's analyze this possibly misleading statistic.

If Pee Pee performs 35 mammograms, 35 prophylactics give-always, 10 Pap smears, 17 family counseling services, and 3 abortions then these misleading numbers are accurate on a unit basis (which I sincerely doubt) but inaccurate on a dollar-spent basis. However, their abortion services for over 330,000 women probable still represent the by-far largest proportion of their federal funding of over $540 million per year. Apparently there seems to be more than one way to deceive the American public into ignoring their law against their tax money going toward what they decry.

And I still have one more important question that is still hanging out there ... how many of the Pee Pee aborted placentas are sold to the cosmetic industries to help our Hollywood glitterati keep their baby-smooth complexions. (I've tried to research this on Google ... but got nowhere.)

Afterthought: For 330,000 abortions per year to represent only 3% of what Pee Pee does, they must then do 100 million other female health services a year. Since they have 700 clinic locations, this means each and every location does 143,000 health services a year or about 460 services a day (assuming they are open on Saturday) ... or over 57 services an hour without a break in each and every clinic location. I find this impossible to believe ... therefore, I strongly suspect that Pee Pee is fabricating these B.S. percentages.

Choice Cuts

Planned Parenthood is showing itself to be a despicable organization ... claiming that they are in the business of providing "women's health" when it really is primarily in the abortion business ... providing over 300,000 of these taxpayer-funded "procedures" a year ... see: Whipping Our Teens into Shape. Not only does it kill these often fully-formed fetuses, but it also now sells the body parts of these fresh corpses for big money.... an illegal business. This is gut-churning reprehensible behavior  ... see: CNN Appology Video and Breitbart Video.

The abortion trade has hidden behind the euphemism of a "choice" for women ... a choice between being "punished with a baby" (President Obama's words) and fulfilling what women's bodies where designed by evolution to accomplish. Now, due to Margaret Sanger's vision for a purer race ... combined with the insidious loopiness of the 1960's radical feminist movement ... vowing to deny a woman's biology, we now have an epidemic of infanticide ... which has further devolved into cutting up the fetal-tissue results of this grisly process in order to sell these tiny organs to get enough pelf to buy an abortion doctor her new Lamborghini.

How very like what we fought against in World War II.

Progressivism

The Ken Burns' documentary "The Roosevelt's" has spent considerable time on Teddy Roosevelt's progressive reforms (trust busting, pure food and drugs, civil service hiring, land conservation, etc.) ... most of which are universally lauded today.  And T.R. has had his likeness carved on Mount Rushmore as a consequence.

This has got me musing ... there is one fundamental flaw with the progressive agenda ... and that is ... after the most obvious beneficial reforms have been enacted, many "progressives" think that any change is still necessarily good. Thus change becomes an objective in and of itself … with little thought to the possible consequences. If the progressive movement was right in Teddy Roosevelt’s time, then it must still be the bright path to lasting political fame.

Once most or all of the low-hanging progressive fruit has been plucked, then progressives find sillier and sillier things that must be reformed ... many of which begin to erode the very fabric of our society. Many of these inane progressive fixes have more to do with changing social norms rather than fixing structural economic problems. Here are a few:

- Poverty is a primary target of the progressive movement … with transfer payments of all types now totaling hundreds of billions of dollars annually. The result? This country now has a huge indolent class which is now totally dependent on these government handouts … and unwilling to seek gainful employment. Yet they are still indigent because “poverty” keeps being defined upwards and most of those transfer payment are not included in such measurements. And this growing unproductive population then requires millions of immigrants to take their places at an additional economic and socially-disruptive cost. And this is called progress …

- Progressives have now determined that the government cannot now intrude into the bedroom to define deviant and often destructive moral conduct ... yet it can and must intercede to pay for the consequences of such questionable morality ... contraceptives, an AIDs cure, abortions, redefining marriage, sex-change operations, etc. So far pedophilia, bestiality, incest, and polygamy have escaped such social "progress" but, if such progressive trends continue ...

- Progressives have also decided, on very dubious “scientific" evidence, that carbon dioxide, a gas that is the basis of all life on earth, is a pollutant and must be regulated with punitive economic policies. This would be the equivalent to Teddy Roosevelt, because of the then unsanitary slaughterhouse practices, outlawing meat.

- Gender and sexual-orientation equality has morphed in the progressive mind to gender and sexual-orientation equivalence. Women are now encouraged to serve in military combat roles. Men who think of themselves as women must be allowed to intermingle with women in all their erstwhile segregated places ... and visa versa. Did Teddy, the archetypical progressive have women serving with him in the Rough Riders?

Has ‘progressivism” now devolved into something bad instead of something good? To me it has …

Whip Our Teens into Shape

Isn’t it wonderful that the U.S. taxpayers support Planned Parenthood to the tune of over half a billion dollars a year … see: Fox News Story?  And where does all this money go?  Answer: mostly toward women’s reproductive services (aka abortions).  Planned Parenthood has performed something like one million abortions over the last three years … see: Heritage Foundation Story.  Perhaps we should call this non-profit organization "Planned Unparenthood?"

Planned Parenthood also spends a pretty penny on funding the elections of those politicians who will keep this taxpayer money-faucet open … something like $15 million per pop … see: Newsmax Story.  Basically all taxpayers are being made to pony up to elect Democrats.

Ah, but now Planned Parenthood is branching out … it is now decided that it needs to proselytize our teenagers about the pleasures of bondage and sadomasochistic sex … see: Life News Story. What in God’s name do handcuffs, whips and gag balls have to do with planning one’s parenthood?  And why do we, the U.S. taxpayers, need to fund such dreck?

Don’t answer … we all know we are in the vise grip of the Liberal vortex …

Afterward:  This really deserves some more commentary.  How is this not a step backwards from the intent of Roe vs. Wade?  Is this maybe just a move by Planned Parenthood to increase its pool of abortionists and thus the number of abortions it performs anually ... and therefore the number of taxpayer dollars it collects?  I guess, in the end, it all comes down to mammon.  See: The Coat Hanger for more of my thoughts on this same subject.

A Platform Too Far

The Republican Presidential Platform was criticized for endorsing a "radical" no-exception stand on right to life (which Mitt Romney doesn't support).  However, the Democrat Platform was approved yesterday in Charlotte and it contains lots of radical (is there a stronger word?) planks that cut across the grain of American traditionalism.  It no longer mentions God.  It endorses taxpayer-funded late-term abortions.  It no longer avers that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.  It unequivocally supports gay marriage.  It endorses the Dream Act on immigration.  See: Incomplete AP Story.  Only this time I suspect Obama enthusiastically stands behind all the planks of this belly-rubbing Democrat Platform.

Top this with the speaker lineup in Charlotte -- former President Jimmy Carter, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, La Raza champion Julian Castro, turncoat Charlie Crist, "give me my birth control" Sandra Fluke and that American Indian, Elizabeth Warren.  Is it any wonder that many "moderate" Democrats are distancing themselves from this convention.  Where is Hillary?  Where is Andrew Cuomo?  Where is Erskin Bowles?  Even Rahm Emanuel has flown the coop.  And, what was supposed to be the crescendo of this convention -- Obama's acceptance speech in front of 74,000 hysterical fans -- appears to be being diminished, see: Breitbart Story.
