Orchestration

To me this is all too suspicious. The influx of Central-American children crossing illegally into the United States has doubled since last year causing a humanitarian crisis in our southwest… see: Financial Times Story. This tidal wave of minors will cost American taxpayers over two billion dollars and, because they are “children,” put more media pressure on Congress to do something about immigration reform.

How convenient … just when Senator Upchuck Schumer is putting on a full court press to pass his immigration-reform legislation before August.

I can not imagine that this is an accident … this influx of so many unaccompanied children who have traveled thousands of miles through Mexico and found their way into our country. This takes money and planning. And apparently the Obama administration is pulling out all stops to compound this problem by enlisting lawyers to help them stay in this country … see: New York Times Story.

This smells to me of an orchestrated attempt to coerce opponents of the “Dream Act” into submission ... using these children as all-suffering pawns. One might even call it a shakedown.

If it can be determined that the Obama-istas are in anyway behind the funding and logistics of this tidal wave of young illegal immigrants, then, once again, they are overtly working against the established laws passed by Congress. If this would not be subversive anarchy, then we need better words for it.

Afterward: A Texas judge has said that "the government has simply chosen not to enforce the United States border security laws" ... see: CBS Story.

Carrying Water in a Sieve

Politicians of all stripes (including Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and, now, Rand Paul) are falling all over one another to construct a way for illegal aliens to finally achieve U.S. citizenship.  These are all variations of the Dream Act which failed in Congress in George Bush’s last year in office … but which Obama has partially implemented by fiat last summer (see: The Atlantic Story).  It is assumed that Democrats are pushing this meme so that they might get an additional nine million or so votes in upcoming elections (70% of what would be 12 million or so new voters). Republicans are … well … I can’t really figure out why Republicans are pushing this agenda.  The reason I say this is based upon two fallacious assumptions that I believe underlie the Republicans’ thinking.  These flawed assumptions are:

1)       Illegal immigrants will come forward to take advantage of this path to citizenship of whatever form it takes.  Think about it … why would you as an illegal immigrant … living in the shadows and getting many if not most of the benefits of citizenship, come forward and get your name entered in a database that would possibly take away some of these benefits and/or get the Internal Revenue Service on your trail to pay taxes and/or fines (see: The Daily Beast Story)? By staying in the shadows, it is also reasonable to assume that any onerous aspects of being “illegal” will be ameliorated by President Obama and future Democrat administrations … witness the above-mentioned executive order last summer.  Thus, the status quo has a very attractive appeal to this class on non-citizen. With a Dream Act, they might even be required to learn English for heavens sake!

2)       Illegal immigrants, as an indication of gratitude for their efforts, might vote in greater percentages for Republicans than such Hispanics and other immigrant groups now do. Why?  Survey after survey has shown that the reason such immigrants vote for Democrats is that they are for big-brother government and all the largess that such form of government returns to them (see: Huffington Post Opinion).  Besides, in many states (such as Nevada), many of these illegal immigrants vote Democrat already … goaded on by their conspiratorial unions (see: FrontPage Story).

I do believe that, with these Dream-Act look-a-likes,  the Republicans are attempting to carry water in a sieve.

A Platform Too Far

The Republican Presidential Platform was criticized for endorsing a "radical" no-exception stand on right to life (which Mitt Romney doesn't support).  However, the Democrat Platform was approved yesterday in Charlotte and it contains lots of radical (is there a stronger word?) planks that cut across the grain of American traditionalism.  It no longer mentions God.  It endorses taxpayer-funded late-term abortions.  It no longer avers that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.  It unequivocally supports gay marriage.  It endorses the Dream Act on immigration.  See: Incomplete AP Story.  Only this time I suspect Obama enthusiastically stands behind all the planks of this belly-rubbing Democrat Platform.

Top this with the speaker lineup in Charlotte -- former President Jimmy Carter, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, La Raza champion Julian Castro, turncoat Charlie Crist, "give me my birth control" Sandra Fluke and that American Indian, Elizabeth Warren.  Is it any wonder that many "moderate" Democrats are distancing themselves from this convention.  Where is Hillary?  Where is Andrew Cuomo?  Where is Erskin Bowles?  Even Rahm Emanuel has flown the coop.  And, what was supposed to be the crescendo of this convention -- Obama's acceptance speech in front of 74,000 hysterical fans -- appears to be being diminished, see: Breitbart Story.

King Barack

Government is a lot more efficient when you can ignore the will of the people.  The Dream Act was introduced over 12 years ago as an attempt to solve our illegal immigrant problems (see: Wikipedia  Entry).  Congress was deluged with complaints that this was an amnesty program and eventually had to abandon this legislation.  Now with the stroke of a pen, “President” Obama has circumvented this country’s Constitutional process and has executive-ordered many of the tenants of this deep-sixed law into effect.  Yesterday, this ukase was implemented around the country to an overwhelming reception from hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of those who have, until now, been living in the shadows (see: AP Story and NBC Chicago Story).

Independent of the charity arguments surrounding our tsar of tsar’s action, Obama has clearly and cleverly ignored the legal protocols that have been in place since our country’s founding. He is thumbing his nose at Madison and Jefferson and that great document they crafted.  And why is there not a hew and cry from Republicans?  Because they are unfortunately realistic … and know that many Hispanics would been even more inclined to vote against them in November.  And, to politicians, getting elected usually comes before all other considerations.

But my question is: Is it not also realistic to assume that a large percentage of these newly documented immigrants will also vote against Republicans … despite all laws to the contrary? And, if this travesty of justice does grease the skids for Obama’s re-election, will his highness not take even grosser liberties with that manuscript for which he once was a college lecturer?
