Federalism

Our founding fathers were brilliant with their concept of “federalism” ... dispersing some powers away from our central government to the states ... saving us from the possibility of a dictatorial president and a looney-tunes Congress.

However, what they couldn’t have imagined was that we could ever have so many martinet state governors and nutso state legislatures.

Obvious Truth

Elite Americans really don’t care what our president does to project U.S. power overseas or to improve our country. They primarily want our president to look good, speak well and make lots of cool friends around the world.

Fast Forward

Fast forward to the 2044 presidential campaign: “The U.S. Constitution mandates that everyone should live to 150 ... ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.’ This is not a privilege, it is a government-guaranteed right!” — President Elizabeth Warren running for her seventh term.

Obvious Truth

The very best way to inoculate yourself from any possible criminal suspicion or prosecution is to be a Democrat and run for President of the United States.

Quotable Quote (updated)

Source of quote: Interview with Gale king

“If a black guy can do it [be president], anybody can.” — Michelle Obama

Does she really mean this? Does she understand what she is actually implying?!

Afterward: Imagine Melania Trump uttering these words ...

Bubble Brain

I've often thought that nobody should be allowed to vote unless they can name the three branches of our government (legislative, executive and judicial), Now, newly-elected New York City Congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has exhibited stunning ignorance of even this simple fact. She thinks this answer is the "the president, the Senate and the House" (her new venue). If you don't believe me, please watch: Daily Wire News Video.

Now this 29-year-old new Representative has gone from being a Bronx bartender to a $175,000 per year gig helping to guide our ship of state. She has a cum laude degree in economics from Boston University and has promised her equally-clueless voters free healthcare, free housing, free college and just about free everything else ... without any clear idea of how to pay for this largess. (She also wants to eliminate the Columbus Day holiday.)

She clearly is a babbling bubbling brain ... naive as to what she is getting into. Unfortunately, she is not by herself in that reform school under the dome in Washington, DC.

Afterthought: However, one bright spot -- she is against the NYC tax giveaway to Amazon!

Carrot and Stck

There is this blogger from Natick,

Who favors the carrot, not the stick.

He has changed his precedent

For critiquing the president.

Saying, "Stick's no longer my shtick."

Founding Fathers' Wisdom

Our founding fathers realized that allowing children to set public policy was quite unwise. That is why, when writing our Constitution, they set the age requirement for our president at 35, senators at 30 and representatives at 25. It seems to me that this latter stricture should also be applied to voters. All the sophomoric nonsense now being championed at our universities does nothing but reinforce this notion. As does the fact that now social media has revealed how shallow and self-absorbed many of our current younger generation of snowflakes either are or will become.

Maturity doesn't always come with age ... but it helps.

MAGA Trump

Is Trump often childish? Sure. Does he taunt him enemies mercilessly? Of course ... often uncomfortably. Does he relate his version of the truth independent of what the media and the Left believe? Too often. Is he an orator? No, he lowers his voice when he should raise it for emphasis and his hand  gestures ate too routine. Dos he repeat himself? Like an echo chamber. Is he compulsive? Yup, yup. Does he look like a president? He has funny hair and too-long ties. Was he a sexual predator? If you take the Billy Bush tape literally, yes. Is he a narcissist and egomaniac? Yes. Has he paid his taxes over the years?  To me, this is up to the IRS to decide. Does he have most of the national media in his corner? Duh!

So why do I and millions of other Americans support this flawed man with clear eyes? Simple, because of his policies and because  his performance agrees with what we believe needs to be done. On immigration, on trade, on terrorism, on limiting government and government regulation, on national defense and hegonomy, on economic growth, on tax reform, on draining the political swamp that is Washington, on all these things and more ... most of which Democrats seem to eschew.

What's the difference between these two radically different stances? Clearly, Trump's opponents mostly dislike his superficials, whereas his supporters look beyond these flaws, believing that this man will MAGA.

BTW, Oprah has few of Trump's flaws ... but also supports few of his political mandates (at least those which we know now about), yet the Left already has her nominated for 2020. Is this the right political strategy? Well, it did work in 2008 ... but somehow I doubt it will again?

Trump Trumps!

Despite the best efforts of the Obummers, a raft of coke-sniffing rappers and twerkers, the snooty Republican establishment, felony-forgiving Democrats, many media meatheads, a hoard of Hollywood hotheads, moneyed Muslim moguls and the entire extended Clinton crime family ... Donald J. Trump just defied very long odds and was elected our 45th President.

Now the hard work really begins for this indefatigable populist.

A Loose Cannon

Hellery Clinton is now calling Donald Trump "a loose cannon." I suspect that anyone who has been awake for the last ten months would agree with this micro-aggression ... however quite a few do not hold it against him. Matter of fact, some, like myself, think that such an artillery piece rolling around in the White House would keep many of the United States's antagonists up at night ... not knowing what President Trump might do next.

Yes, some of the other loose cannons in the world might try to out-Trump Trump ... setting up possible dangerous confrontations. But Iran's Khamenei, Syria's Assad, North Korea's Kim Jong-un, and Russia's Putin have been saber-rattling enough as it is. I suspect that a lot of their bluster is because of the shrinking violet that we currently have ensconced at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. But much as Obummer has tried to emasculate the United States, we are still a formidable military might ... and I doubt if any of these martinets would be willing to truly test us.

That leaves China. A great deal of China's economic future is dependent on its chief customer's continued buying spree ... and that chief customer is us. In a very obvious way, if China were to start hostilities with the United States, it would be cutting off its fire-breathing snout to spite its dragon face. So I suspect that China may cross the street to avoid any real confrontation with Trump ... at least for his tenure.

So ... like so many of Hellery's campaign bombasts ... this latest fusillade has likely misfired.

It's a Hit

I suppose that a large enough percentage of its audience doesn't realize the motivation behind the following New York Times Hit Piece ... or, if they do, they are happy to have fodder for their next piss-on-Trump cocktail party. But this mud is quite predictable. The Times treats Republican hopefuls with kid gloves ... until they become presumptive presidential nominees. Then it is as though a pack of ravenous wild dogs have been unleashed and this presumptive nominee is raw meat. From now until election day we will be treated to unsourced after unsourced dirt on Donald Trump ... some true, some half-true and some total fabrications. Recall that this was the very same treatment John McCain and Mitt Romney got from this newspaper going into the last two elections.

On the other hand, it's approach to Democrats is the reverse. Very early on, the Times will do a small critique of Democrat wannabes (remember the Clinton Foundation disclosures months ago ... a nice piece of random journalism ... which will have been forgotten by election season.) Then for the six months before Election Day, the presumptive Democrat will get puff piece after puff piece ... and a slew of flattering photographs and endorsements. All this is designed for this previously-great newspaper to pull as many of the PR marionette strings as possible in order to get its donkey elected.

I suppose that this has been the modus operandi for as long as broadsheets have been around. Republican papers have been doing the same thing, both of them ... the Peduka, KY Grocery Shopper and the Boise, ID Vacation Planner. The main thing that bugs me about this biased process in the main-stream media, such as the Gray Lady, continue to pretend that there is no design to their subterfuge.

I Spy NOT

I have in the past criticized the current CIA Director, John Brennan, as being an ineffective Obummer toady ... see: Head(s) Should RollIt's My CIA Now and Acolytes. But now his warts are on full display with his recent comments in an NPR interview that our nation should not be engaged in spying ... see: Powerline Blog. Our spy agency should not be engaged in spying? What a complete boob!

This mismatch between talent and position is a lot like a community organizer becoming president of the United States ...

Truth

"Truth is beauty and beauty, truth."  -- Keats

(This blog entry is only tangentially related to the Rathergate movie, Truth.)

Truth is an elusive elfin sprite. She is a Tinker Bell caught in a typhoon of ignorance, self-serving mendacity, superstition and media obfuscation. And often when this genie is captured in a bottle, she turns to dust with new information. This is because truth in one narrow context may not hold in a broader milieu. For instance while "turn the other cheek" may be fine for the individual, it may not be the best policy for a nation. But universal truth-telling is essential for truly successful governance ... and it is a very rare commodity these days in Washington.

Thus I am currently inclined to use veracity as a yardstick to measure our roster of candidates for president ... and, to me, the greatest truth tellers are Jim Webb, Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina, and Marco Rubio. Donald Trump might make the list if he constantly didn't engage of puerile put-downs of his Republican rivals. Guess who is on the bottom rung of this believability ladder ranking.among this bunch of wannabes? And, surprisingly, the one who captures my heart and my brain on the top rung is Dr. Carson ... for no other reason than he is willing to tell truths that go against the media meme ... and not back down when challenged.

Yes, my current favorite, if elected president, would find himself in a hornet's nest of backbenchers and backstabbers. But somehow I feel that he, like Abraham Lincoln, has the perspicacity to surround himself with learned deputies who would help him through the gauntlet of incompetence that is Washington.

In fact, if Ben Carson were lucky enough to make it as the Republican candidate, I would suggest he choose as his campaign's motto ... "The Truth Teller."

Strange

What a cool and strangely impersonal way to tell the American people that you are running for president ... with an adviser's e-mail and a 2-minute video released on social media ... see: New York Times Story. Perhaps Hillary Clinton is trying to tell the younger voters that she is still hip ... but, at the same time, using electronics to keep her distance from any embarrassing questions ... even from her adoring media.

The only analogy that I can come up with is to compare this Clinton announcement with a couple exchanging their wedding vows using Skype. Am I the only one finding this venue strangely detached and hinting of hubris?

Frack OPEC

A funny thing happened on the way to world economic dominance by that oil cartel, OPEC. And that is capitalism and the innovation that this "greed" begets has reared it ugly head and is sending many of these OPEC members squeeling for cover. Saudi Arabia, the elephant in the OPEC room, suddenly realized that oil-well fracking in the United States had become a strategic threat to its dominant hold on the energy markets and so decided to flood the world with oil (at least not cut production during a period of oil oversupply) in order to upset the shale-oil economics ... see the very insightful: UK Telegraph Article.

I suggest a careful reading of the previous article for it clearly illustrates how the fat, dumb, and happy OPEC cartel ... plus Russia ... had thought that they had the rest of the world by the short hairs ... and could have their way with us. Oops! They forgot that the ingenuity of free men somehow has a way of dispatching tyranny (and even the oppressive energy policies of the President of the United States.) And, as a consequence, most OPEC members, having ignored the fundamental advantages of capitalism, now are suffering as much or more than the targets of the Saudi's actions, the U.S. oil frackers. Even Saudi Arabia itself will start hurting if it keeps on this pricing pressure for any lengthy period of time. Sob! Sob!
