My Gold Mine

Once, a number of years ago in New York City ... while crossing Lexington Avenue, Donald Trump’s limo was stopped by traffic congestion right next to me for at least a minute. I got a good long look at him and what he was up to. He even caught my eye. Lucky me!

I just signed a multi-million dollar book deal with a white-shoe publisher to recount this experience ... along with my myriad other feelings about the Orangeman’s early life.

I think I’ll call it “Donald and Me” and use the above pic on the book jacket.

I’ve hit the mother load!

Just My Opinion

I hear many say that the people of Iran are good. ... it is just their leaders who are evil. Well, as much as I would like to concur with that rationalization, I can’t. The people of Iran have by their once vote and by their continued complacency allowed their country to become what it is today ... the world’s chief sponsor of terrorism. This is just like the people of North Korea, Russia, Cuba, China, Venezuela, Chicago, New York, Portland and many others have made their corrupt beds and now unhappily are tucked into them.

If a citizenry allows idiot dictators to rule them, then they deserve being pariahs. And yes, dear reader ... anticipating some of your snarky comments ... if I sense that Donald Trump is taking America in an autocratic direction, I will not be an accomplice in such a degradation. And although Trump’s enemies ... including the pipsqueak press and some of you, kind readers, do so avow ... I have yet to sense such a turn.

If such a circumstance presents itself ... and I am sensitive to this possibility because of all the feral abuse that he has suffered, it could be a predictable reaction ... I still will raise my pen in protest.

Mass Suicide

Jonestown

At least three cities, Seattle, Minneapolis and New York City, appear to be committing suicide (citycide?) in puckish defiance of Trump and the safety of their citizens. These are Democrat-controlled cities in Democrat-controlled states whose elected officials are either too weak or too stupid to pull themselves out of the death spirals they are obviously in.

President Trump has this rather unique effect on his opponents ... pushing them to commit hari kari as proof of their hatred of him. These city mayors and state governors are not alone in their political suicide ritual ... Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden and much of the Democrat national establishment are also following the polls by denying Trump any hint of victory before the November election ... all in the hope that voters will not wake up to this deception and throw their sorry asses out of office.

So far, they seem to be right. Trump looks weak by his forced inaction and is slumping in the polls ... this is because coronavirus is making a comeback, the economy is still on life-support, the iconoclasts control many of our streets, and Congress is sitting on their hands. The Orangeman seems to sense that those three cities mentioned are booby-trapped if he were to try to fix things ... so he is without a good solution until public opinion has had enough of this lefty lunacy.

Will the US electorate awakening happen before Biden sweeps up and invites Xi to occupy the White House? The answer, dear liberal readers, is within yourselves. Are you willing to believe that Trump, if given half a chance, can Make America Great Again? Are Trump’s petty annoyances tolerable for another four years? It’s either that or we surely will become another Venezuela ... or, worse yet, Jonestown.

Proud Grandpa

I haven’t been that close to my granddaughter Sarah as I would have liked. But, seeing this on her Facebook post, made me one proud grandpa. She is the second from the left with her fellow COVID-battling doctors at the Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.

A Short Story

In happier times ...

This is a story about a woman friend. She was second generation Irish ... who chose health care as a profession and while practicing this calling in Germany, met and married her husband ... moved back to the US ...  had five rambunctious boys (who were good friends with my children) ... with German first names and Irish middle ones ... continued as a clinician and nurse in the New York City public school system ... saw to it all five boys got well educated and became successful adults ... got divorced ... and retired to a condo in Florida.

In March, at the age of 80, the NYC public school system called and asked her help with the virus outbreak. Despite warning her boys not to travel, took a plane to New York to resume her long ago nursing duties while staying with her brother ... started not feeling up to par ... couldn’t keep up the grind ... flew back to Florida ... got quite sick ... entered the hospital when diagnosed with COVID-19 ... and died yesterday.

RIP Rosemary!

Leadership

Be he right or be he wrong, there is no question that Donald Trump is a leader. He has supreme confidence in his ability to make things happen. And he is right more often than he is wrong ... which really angers his opponents. And very often these opponents would rather Trump lose than the United States win. This is a perverse type of political hostility. When President Trump moves in an unconventional direction with Afghanistan withdrawal or Iranian denuclearizing, fake-news pundits squirm and scream, “That is not the way to do it” ... forgetting that their previous mindless approaches were totally ineffective. What’s that definition of insanity?

I find it strange that liberals often find it preferable to do nothing administratively than be shown as having a hand on the throttle and a eye on the rail. I recall that many of my lefty friends called Mayor Rudy Giuliani a Nazi as he led New York City back to live-ability. And now the mayor of this city, de Blasio, would rather exercise at the gym than run his city ... with the result that it once again is a mess. This same insanity is being repeated in other Democrat cities ... Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Portland, Chicago, etc., etc.

Why, in the minds of Democrats, does responsible management equate to totaliarism? And laissez faire and permissiveness equal “justice?” There can be no real progress without making decisions and shaping operations. Yet they call themselves “progressives!” Railing against the phantom bugaboos of racism, bigotry, misogyny and antisemitism is not a substitute for leadership. And every so often the American people wake up and realize this truth.

No Joe!

This AM on “Morning Joe” Joe Scarborough played his RACIST violin again ... besmirching who? You guessed it, President Donald Trump. Basically, Joe was whining  about Trump’s Cincinnati rally last night and how Trump’s attacking failed Democrat inner cities was a RACIST dog-whistle!

The failed inner cities that Trump mentioned were Baltimore, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Now, I could be wrong but, of these three cities, the only one I think of as black or black-controlled is Baltimore. Even other cities that Trump could have included in this list — Seattle, Portland, Detroit, New York City, St. Louis and Chicago — only two could be considered “black,” Detroit and St. Louis.

Sorry Joe, but your RACIST narrative does not hold any coffee.

Highest Temperature Records

Since the press focuses on individual temperatures to agitate for global warming, I thought that a listing through time of highest temperature at various US cities might give one a feeling for whether we really are getting hotter. Please click on these links, scan the record high temperatures at these American cities and then make up your own mind if Al Gore is a charlatan:

Boston: 1893 to present

New York City: 1870 to present

 Chicago: 1942 to present

 St. Louis: 1893 to present

Dallas: 1914 to present

Los Angeles: 1914 to present

Averting One's Eyes

I remember being perplexed at Democrats who made excuses for Bill Clinton back when he was going through his impeachment gauntlet. I still remember how disappointed I was with Senator John Glenn when he voted not to convict Bubba after he had been impeached.

Now, I find that I may be willing to let partisanship come before patriotism insofar as the Trump slow-motion coup by Mueller is concerned. I've already dismissed the Stormy Daniels affair and most of the other accusations of Trump misconduct. I seem willing to look the other way even if Trump was "mobbed up" in his New York City real estate business ... an almost certainty in the Manhattan swamp. And there are obviously questions about his company's finances ... witness his many IRS audits.

So, have I become that which I have previously decried? Certainly to a degree. But, on the other hand, Bill Clinton's erstwhile defenders have also flipped. In both cases, it seems the rationale is that the good outweighs the bad. I certainly applaud what Trump has been doing in his presidency and want him to finish his agenda ... as did Bubba's buddies back in the late 1990s.

Are both sides being hypocritical? Yes, but then isn't this how politics works? I wish it weren't so ...

The Rat Test

The New York police are seeking Ahmad Khan Rahami in connection with the weekend bombings in New York City and nearby New Jersey. Now clearly the man is most likely a Muslim and also is surely known by dozens if not hundreds of other Muslims. If, as is professed by our current political leaders, the vast majority of Muslims are peace-loving and loyal Americans ... then we're now presented with an interesting test -- will Rahami's fellow Muslims rat him out ... or will they close ranks around him and become part of this terrorist conspiracy?

Yes, it seems quite probable that Rahami will be apprehended ... but what I will be watching for ... is how he is caught. Stay tuned ...

Gotcha!

Yesterday at a Labor Day gathering the subject came up about the violence sweeping the black inner city. I proffered that the reason this mayhem was on the upswing was either the lack of police "stop and frisk" enforcement (as in Chicago) ... or the elimination of this previously-allowed option (as in New York City). A liberal friend then threw me a curve ball, "The problem then is the guns?" To which I swung and whiffed ... saying, "Yes."

You know the rest ... the friend's smug "gotcha" smile ... and me, being unable then to explain that I really meant "unregistered illegal guns." Once you have been trapped in such a rhetorical cul de sac, there are only two options: the Trump response, wherein you attack the questioner as being a hypocrite and go on to explain ... or, you "sigh!" and hope some listeners realize that any artless additional comments of yours will only be ignored. I chose the latter option.

Expect a similar trap to be laid by Chuck Todd for Trump in the upcoming first presidential debate ... at which point Hellery will likely descend into paroxysms of laughing and coughing.

The Future Is Now

A few days ago, while traveling back from the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida airport, there was a congestion of wheelchairs in the boarding area of a flight to New York City. There were 30 of these handicap accommodations waiting to pre-board the aircraft. (Full disclosure: mine was among them.) As a result, there was a conga line of full wheelchairs entering and empty ones leaving the plane. A Vietnam vet with two bullets in his leg and I chose to wait and walk aboard to speed things up.

Now this was on a flight of only 200 passengers ... so 15% of us oldsters were seriously handicapped physically ... and these numbers are only going to go up. This, dear readers, is the future of air travel.

Afterthought: Interestingly, all but two of the 30 walked off of the plane.

Blasé de Blasio

New York City is back on the decline ... in so many ways ... not just poor schools, flagging terrorist intel and poor relations with the police force. Mayor Blasé de Blasio has also brought back the squeegee beggars, the defecating street people and now the graffiti ... see:  Local CBS Story.

The Big Apple is populated with many bright people. So how could they elect this boob of a mayor whose ideas and actions run across the grain of so many things which have made this city great? All the effective efforts of mayors Giuliani and Bloomberg seem now to have been in vain.

One small solace ... de Blasio does realize that he is a doofus ... see: New York Times Story.

Cops' Lives Matter

The four very recent cop killings in Hattiesburg, Mississippi (see: Daily Mail Article), New York City and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho tell me that the Department of Justice's narrative about police being out of control seems a little lopsided ... see: Officer Down Memorial Page. Will Al Sharpton pay a visit to Hattiesburg (after all one of the slain cops was black)?

Perhaps President Obama and Attorney General Loretta Lynch have a hidden agenda after all?

(I do realize that the title of this blog is a dog whistle ...)

Afterward: As evidence of this hidden agenda: Breitbart Article.

Balti-less

Both the mayor and police chief of Baltimore, Maryland are black ... but this didn't mitigate the rioting that has occurred in this city after the funeral of Freddie Gray, a black youth who was killed in police custody last week ... see: UK Daily Mai Story. Even the feckless mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio, handled similar rioting there better than did the mayor of Baltimore  ... who essentially gave the demonstrators there permission to riot and "space to destroy things." What was she thinking?

And so Baltimore has a black black eye ... and many businesses there will have to think twice about rebuilding and reopening.

The futility of such mayhem escapes me and most civilized people ... but apparently this Freddie Gray tragedy somehow gives license for feral behavior on the part of enough of the city's youths to besmirch this city for years to come. What a pity ...

The only real suggestion that I have is that there are enough cell-phone pictures and news coverage that dozens of rioters and looters can be identified and arrested. The justice system in Baltimore should be swift and tough on these miscreants. If the governance there were so inclined, perhaps ... just perhaps, this might assuage such future criminal behavior.

In the end, justice should be served ... else it will be subverted.

Afterward: There are some reasonable law-abiding parents in Baltimore ... see:ABC News Video. Good for her!

After Afterward: And here is a picture of the good Baltimore citizens lining up to protect their police force:

Groundhog Day

Watching the endless media repeating of the New England Patriot interception of the bizarre goal-line pass by the Seattle Seahawks in yesterday's Superbowl, I am feeling very much like Bill Murray in his cinematic looped experiences in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania ... reliving Groundhog Day over and over and over and over. And I am certain that the world will have these Patriot winning celebrations burned into our brains over the next weeks. The only politician who will be exempt from these eternal and infernal Groundhog Day festivities will be Bill de Blasio, Mayor of New York City, who dropped last year's groundhog ... sending it to its maker ... see: NY Daily News Story.

This mayor attempted to blame white police officers for this miscue, but even the liberal media wasn't buying this lamo excuse. But Al Sharpton's was.
