Dr. Evil

George Soros is the equivalent of a sinister antagonist in a James Bond movie. He is an octogenarian multi-billionaire who likes to use his money to buy politicians and to create mischief in the Western world. He has Hellary Clinton and most of the Democrat party in his back pocket. He snaps open his billfold and they respond with Pavlovian servitude. In leaked e-mails and memos, it has recently been revealed that he basically was issuing marching orders to the United States' State Department through his then Toady-in-Chief, Hellary Clinton ... see: Breitbart Article, Another Breitbart Revelation and Daily Caller Report.

This Hungarian-born naturalized American citizen has a number of favorite causes -- open borders (in the U.S. and Europe), legalization of recreational drugs, anti-Israel organizations, community organizing, assisted suicide, Occupy Wall Street, felons' voting, the Arab Spring, Kosovo independence, Black Lives Matter, etc. ... see: Discover the Networks ... and probably many other causes on which his fingerprints have been wiped clean. (Do we see a correlation to the Clintons' decades-long priorities here?) The only other common denominator that I can discern to all these causes is that Soros champions a sinister push back towards American values and democracy ... strange ... for a person who has benefited so much from the country he apparently hates.

And "We The People" are traveling under the naive assumption that our politicians are beholding to us. No, no, no, for at least the last twenty five years, our politicians have mostly become acolytes of the dead presidents printed on our currency. Truman wasn't in it for the money. Eisenhower wasn't in it for the money. JFK wasn't in it for the money. Ford wasn't in it for the money. Reagan wasn't in it for the money. Even Jimmy Carter wasn't in it for the money. And someone who has truckloads of this green paper ... and knows how to spread it around ... like Soros ... obviously has huge political purchase. A discouragingly large proportion of our today politicians are more interested in personal gain than they are in the betterment of the country over which they govern. This is a recipe for national ptomaine poisoning.

Success!

When Obummer first took office, Rush Limbaugh issued that famous quote, "I hope he fails." Well, unfortunately, Rush was wrong ... and Obummer, over seven years, has experienced fairly wide-ranging successes with his objectives ... many, I am sure, we will hear about this Tuesday night.

He has pulled our troops out of Iraq. He has orchestrated a surge of troops in Afghanistan, "the good war." He has gotten his health care reform, Obamacare, passed and now implemented. He has opened our borders to many tens of thousands of "dreamers," or young illegal Mexican and Central American immigrants. He has also admitted tens of thousand of legal Muslim immigrants. Through the Muslim Brotherhood, he helped spawn the Arab Spring and all the changes it caused in the Middle East. He overthrew the Kadaffi government in Libya. ዕብያ።With the generous help of the Federal Reserve Bank , he has reduced the national unemployment rate to 5 %. He has drawn attention to possibly illegal police shootings throughout the country.  He has waged a relentless war on domestic "assault weapons." He has negotiated a nuclear limitation agreement with Iran. At the Paris Climate Conference he has focused world attention on global warming. He has gone a long way toward closing the Guantanamo Bay prison. He has championed a new free-trade pact with the Far East. He has gotten his most recent $1.1 trillion omnibus budget passed ... funding most of his residual objectives.

All this while enjoying himself immensely and playing hundreds of rounds of golf all around the United States.

Of course many of these successes have also had a dark side ... but we will leave them for another time.

The Oath

When our president twice took his oath of office, he swore to protect the American people from "all enemies, foreign and domestic." I can't believe that anyone truly believes that Obummer has fulfilled this pledge. Here are but a few of the instances where he has fallen down on his job one:

The Fast and Furious scheme inside his Justice Dept., his premature pullout from Iraq, his release of thousands of immigrant criminals, his unwillingness to identify the radicalized Muslim enemy, the series of terrorist attacks inside the U.S. on his watch, the release of hundreds of terrorists from Gitmo, his open borders policy, his tepid response to the ISIS threat, the Bowe Bergdahl prisoner exchange, his politically motivated "surge" in Afghanistan with no chance of success, his embracing of the Muslim Brotherhood, his sponsoring the Arab Spring and its dire consequences (Egypt, Libya, etc.), and his capitulation to Iran on their nuclear program/sponsorship of terrorism.

Enough? (There are lots more.) Obviously this man then had scant regard for this oath ... or the Book upon which he swore it.

Ersatz

It was recently reveled that Beyonce lip-synced the national anthem at President Obama’s just-passed inauguration … with the Marine Band pretending to play the associated music … see: Telegraph Story

Let’s see … President Obama reads someone else’s words from his ever-present Teleprompter, Beyonce mimes the Star-Spangled Banner, global-warming data is still being faked (see: Powerline Blog), and Michelle Obama is now sporting a black-banged wig.  Is everything ersatz these days?

Someone please pinch me.  I’m hoping that the last four years were also just make-believe … our huge deficit spending, Obamacare, and the Arab Spring never happened  … and were all just bad dreams.  Perhaps I might also wake up and discover that Mitt Romney is now the President?

Pact with the Devil

David Ignatius, columnist for the Washington Post, does not head my list of favorite people, but he recently wrote an op-ed which goes as far as he is allowed to go to take the Obama administration to task.  Please read the whole thing and then return for my vinegar: Washington Post - Ignatius.

Comparing the United States’s reaction to the Egyptian riots that ousted Hosni Murabak and the recent ones over Egypt’s current President, Mohamed Morsi’s overreach, one can readily see that the Obama/Clinton tag team have made a pact with the devil, the Muslim Brotherhood.  Shortly after Obama’s first inauguration, he met, sub rosa, with the Muslim Brotherhood where who-knows-what transpired (see: Washington Times Article) … and numerous times since.  But, as a result, we can clearly see the Obama Administration’s tilt toward this radical (my term) Muslim group … including its backing of the Arab Spring and our numerous faulty diplomatic Middle-East moves thereafter … including the Benghazi attack and its cover-up.

Shortly after Morsi helped to stop the recent rocket attacks on Israel from the Gaza Strip (which he previously probably abetted), he must have felt he had the leverage and quickly assumed Pharaoh-like powers in Egypt.  This caused an eruption of Egyptian secularists on the streets of Cairo … to which Obama and Hillary managed to look the other way.  Yes, they may have contacted Morsi in private to cajole him, but they took no strong public stance against such Morsi totalitarianism, like they did with Murabak.  This would have sent a clear message to the Arab street that the U.S. backed true Democracy, not autocratic rule.  This also tells me nothing more than there must be a secret understanding between Morsi and Obama that we are still reluctant to abandon.

Unlike the classic Faustian bargain, I doubt if Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton are willing or even able to turn the tables on this Mephistopheles.

Shame

There is no other word for it … shame. For the United States to abandon our ally, Israel, in its time of crisis is a humiliation beyond ignominy. President Obama has refused to meet with Bibi Netanyahu, Israel’s Prime Minister, when he visits the United States at the end of September (see: Bloomberg Story). Whatever the feeble excuse, this is a clarion signal to Iran to have its way with its blood-sworn enemy. Israel is left swinging in the wind of our calculated indifference (see: CBS Story).

And this happens on the same significant day, September 11th, that the U.S. embassy in Cairo is attacked and the American flag replaced with the black flag of Islam (see: USAToday Story) … and our consulate in Libya is set on fire with one staffer being killed (see: Ahram Story). The symbolism of these three events cannot be ignored. The United States, under the crisp leadership of Obama and his aide-de-camp, Hillary Clinton, have tilted so far toward the Arab world that it is returning the favor with vengeance instead of gratitude. The “Arab Spring” has become “America’s Winter.”

And I cannot read anything else into these events other than a hidden pleasure-taking on the part of our smirking foreign-policy leadership. We are losing badly in the Middle East (and elsewhere) and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama seem indisposed and perhaps even secretly thrilled. Is this darling duo not supposed to project a U.S. foreign policy of hegemony instead of lily-liveredness? How can we take pleasure in our humiliation? Perhaps that was the plan all along … shame and degradation as recompense for our past sins, imagined and real?

Update: The U.S. Ambassador and three other staffers were killed in the aforementioned Libyan attack (see: Reuters Story).  President Obaba has condemned this radical Islamic action.

Ship-of-State Disasters

The Titanic
My previous speculation about Hillary Clinton running as a VP candidate along with Obama against the Romney/Ryan ticket might have led some to believe that I was a fan of Hillary’s. I am not … and never have been.  As I had previously indicated, I believe that she is nothing more than a political poseur … lacking in any real foreign policy vision or implementation skills.  Let me count the ways that I think that she has set this country back years, perhaps decades since she took her Foggy Bottom office:

- Her “reset” with Russia has seen Putin re-emerge as the belligerent bully he really is.  (George W. Bush had this one wrong too.)  Russia has opposed almost every one of America’s foreign policy initiatives regarding Iran, Syria and North Korea.  It (and he) is clearly not our friend but, increasingly our adversary.  Her silly attempt at cozying up with the Russian Bear has been met with repeated rebuffs.

- Her unthinking support of the Arab Spring has seen the Muslim Brotherhood take over Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and now probably Syria.  Let’s not forget that her State Department re-established diplomatic relations with Syria only a few months before what is effectively a civil war broke out there.  Whether her misreading of what has been going on there is a result of her aide, Huma Abedin (Anthony Weiner’s wife), whispering in her ear is debatable … or her long-standing tilt toward the Palestinians.  But she really has botched things up there but good.

- The policy she has pursued toward Iran has been a demonstrable utter failure.  We have diddled and dawdled with supposed “sanctions” to the point where an atomic weapon capability in Iran appears only months away.  Iran’s Ahmadinejad is now hooking up with Egypt, his considerable friends in Iraq, and even elements in Saudi Arabia to present Israel the gravest of threats.  Yes, Syria seems to be escaping his grasp but, seeing how we bungled these other Middle East uprisings, I’m fairly confident we will screw up Syria too.

- Hillary’s and Barack Obama’s treatment of Israel has been nothing short of shameful.  We have been disdainful, untrustworthy, and naively dismissive toward it, our only true friend in the Middle East.  If and when this tinder box ignites, I (and many others) place it fully on Hillary’s shoulders.

- In South and Central America, Hillary’s and Obama’s deference toward Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and the Castro’s of Cuba has emboldened other nations there to drift even further left … Brazil, Argentina, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Paraguay, Bolivia … all are sounding more and more despotic and socialistic.  I can not think of a single diplomatic success story emanating out of this area of the world during Hillary’s tenure.

- Despite Hillary’s recent swing through Africa, very little progress there has resulted from our State-Department’s policies … which appear vague and wavering.  Africa, in general, is in such a state of disrepair that small initiatives and innovative diplomacy should have yielded great rewards. Where have we been?

- Hillary’s singular visible diplomatic success seems to have been in the Far East – Myanmar (Burma).  Supposedly through her efforts, this country is slowly emerging into the 21st century.  It has freed opposition leader, Suu Kyi, after 21 years of isolation and house arrest to take her seat in Parliament … and begun to introduce gradually democratic freedoms.  However, elsewhere, in this area of the world (China, Indonesia, Japan, Viet Nam, etc.) we seem to exhibit no clear diplomatic weltanschauung.

So, although I understand the tendency of many Americans to moon over our former first lady, I believe that a careful viewing of her tenure as Secretary of State will show her to be a titanic failure.

Afterthought:  Let us not forget that Hillary's State Department recommended against the building of the Keystone Excel pipeline from Canada.

Nexus Perplexus

A nexus is a single connection between things, facts or ideas.  A plexus is multiple ordered connections (often biological.)  We are living in a plexus world ... information-exchange connections are multiplying at a dizzying pace spawned mostly by the Internet and social-networking plexuses (plexi).  Two people can connect in only one way.  Three people can connect in three ways, but four people can connect in six ways ... and five people, in ten ways.  So how many ways can six billion people connect?  The answer is a number larger than all the grains of sand in all the beaches in the world.  This would be best called a "perplexus" as it is what the world seems to be rapidly approaching.  Facebook  and other social-networking sites could not build computer farms large enough to accommodate such an ultimate level of connectivity.

Previous information-exchange models went through hubs (newspapers, magazines, radio and TV stations) which dramatically reduced the number of connections to manageable levels ... but gave these hubs an enormous say in setting the information-exchange agenda.  Now, with the diminishing power of these former hubs, we are faced with the ironic consequences of what would be a totally "democratic" information-exchange world ... and that would be absolute chaos.  We have already witnessed precursors of such a new society in the Arab Spring, Occupy Wall Street, and the political fibrillation over how Western societies are to confront their current debt crises.  The world is trapped in an information maze with little understanding as to how to extract ourselves.  But extract ourselves we will ... as we always have.  But I, personally, am somewhat worried about what socities and information-exchange constructs will arise to deal with this new world order.

Will they be benign or malignant?  (Or, more likely, just another way of promoting Lady Gaga?)

Arabs Spring

Last night on TV, I watched a Youtube video of Egyptian military vehicles turning into crowds and purposely running over Coptic Christians who, two days ago, were demonstrating in the streets of Cairo (see: Telegraph Article and Youtube Video).  These reportedly peaceful demonstrations had been organized to object to the Egyptian government's autistic response to the numerous burnings of Egyptian Christian churches by Islamic extremists.  Reports indicate that as many as 25 Coptics were therein killed by this and related Egyptian army savagery.  Indicating the seriousness of these events, Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister has resigned in protest (see: NY Times Article.)

Equally outraged, The Barry requested and went on prime-time television last night to denounce in very strong terms the purposeful martyring of these Coptic Christians.  Oops, he didn't?  Never mind ...
