Vindictiveness

What is it in the psyche of liberals that makes so many of them be so vindictive? The actions of many of those on the left leading up to Trumps inauguration are exhibiting a degree of sullen pettiness and petulance that certainly doesn't become them ... and threatens even the tearing of our social fabric. Yes, Representative John Lewis saying that Trump's presidency was "illegitimate" is an unfortunate example of this vitriol, but liberals are falling over each other to find more infantile and even dangerous ways of disrupting not just Trump's inauguration (blocking traffic, stink bombs, shutting down the subway), but also his presidency. And unfortunately this playground clique includes President Obummer who, while professing cooperation, has gone way out of his way to make Trump's job of governing much more difficult with a flurry of mean-spirited last-minute actions.

I know the claim of a double standard, left to right, if overused. But conservatives, although they knew that Obummer when first elected, was out to pull down much of what we recognize as the American way, still did not throw sand in the gears of his government like we see being planned for on the left today. This reluctance of conservatives then to engage in the same type of petty obstructionism that we now see occurring or being planned ... did not buy them any quarter when the tables were turned. In fact, this civility seems to have done nothing but enrage their opposition as our country realized what was occurring and "threw the bums out."

Yes, the Republicans have been accused of obstructionism in Congress ... but for 6 of Obummer's 8 years they did not have majorities in both houses and the Reid-Pelosi tag team made sure that little got done besides the Obummer agenda. Slowly, too slowly IMO, the legislative wheels are moving again and, I suspect things will accelerate after this Friday. That is, this will likely happen over the objections and obstructions of the new Schumer-Pelosi tag team.

But the Republicans have a secret weapon, Donald Trump, who can be as surly and petty as the liberal left. In fact his constant push-back just might be the reason he got elected. Any other Republican candidate ... with the possible exception of Carly Fiorina ... would likely have been steamrolled like McCain ans Romney. And what are the Democrat losers objecting to in Trump? Why his Twitter combativeness. Basically, they are trying to de-fang him.

Trump is punching back against this vindictiveness. It might serve him well to be a little vindictive in return.

If he survives the ultimate vindictiveness, that is ...

A Tale of Two Parties

The two party system in the United States is a sham. The Democrat party is no longer recognizable as the home of Sam Nunn, Herbert Humphrey, Barbara Jordan and JFK. This party, under the leadership of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid has successfully moved far left and is about to take this turn even wider. This party no longer wishes the United States to be the leader on the world stage (a stance once called isolationism) and has alienated many allies. It no longer wants a strong military ... witness our president's recent veto of the military appropriation legislation. It wants open borders with very loose enforcement of immigration laws. It is anti-capitalistic ... except for Mom and Pop capitalism ... according to Hillary Clinton in the recent Democrat presidential debate ... and crony capitalism ... according to our president. It favors single-payer health care. It desires European-style nanny-state Socialism with very high taxes funding an ever-growing welfare state. It tolerates repressive Communist governments in Cuba, Venezuela, and China. It has fully swallowed the myth of global warming as a way of expanding the reach of government. It embraces political mendacity ... now dismissed as "spin." It abets the Black Lives Matter movement ... clearly an anti law enforcement cabal.

The Republican Party, under the leadership of Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, is effectively Democrat-light ... a bunch of prancing eunuchs. It only offers token resistance to all the excesses of the galloping Left. It lives in dread of the slings and arrows of the main-stream media (clearly an arm of the Democrat party). It can only give lip service to resisting the tax and spend policies of our fifth-column politicians ... in fact often adding its own precious ornaments to frequent congressional Christmas-tree legislation. It is a party that has lost its way after Ronald Reagan showed it how powerful conservative policies could produce domestic economic growth and international hegemony. Somehow, these lessons were submerged by their own success. Now, some on the Right have realized this backsliding and are trying to restore the idealism that wrought these national benefits. However, the old-time Republican establishment is resisting such a revitalization ... and would prefer the comfort of the current status quo.

Enter Donald Trump who has sensed the frustration of the conservative class in this country and has the communication skills to convince many of them that he can champion the roll-back of the Democrats' excesses. Whether he can or not seems unimportant to his acolytes as they see the demise of our national identity and are willing to grasp any avenue out of  this perdition.

Abhorring a Vacuum

It is not just nature that abhors a vacuum, it is also politics. The Democrats, led by our imperial president, Barack Obama, the Senate’s czar, Harry Reid, and that plastic-surgery experiment, Nancy Pelosi, have so alienated such large swaths of the American voting public that there is a clear danger that charlatans and miscreants, claiming to be conservative Republicans, might actually get elected to Congress this fall. A case in point is Jordan Haskins from Michigan who quite recently was arrested four times for vehicle break-ins and trespassing … yet is running for office as a Republican ...  see: The Conversation.

I’m reasonably certain that this type of candidate scenario will be repeated many times across our nation this coming November and a few undeserving Republicans will even get elected. God knows this unhappy accident occurred far too many times for Democrat poltroons in 2008.

Chaff

I am suffering from indignation fatigue due to a overabundance of national outrages … gender pay inequality, the Benghazi scandal, the Koch brothers’ political donations, the IRS’s Tea Party targeting scandal, climate change, the Fast and Furious government gun-running, the release of illegal-immigrant criminals, our botched foreign policy vis-à-vis Russia, the looming federal carbon tax, Obamacare disruptions to our health-care system, the return of school segregation, NSA eavesdropping, President Obama’s selective enforcement of our laws, Iran’s rush to atomic weaponry, the need to increase the minimum wage, Syria’s continued use of chemical weapons, extending unemployment benefits, continued lethargic national employment and economic growth, our refusal to approve the Keystone pipeline … and so on ad infinitum.

Perspicacious readers might have noticed that the above list contains numerous serious scandals of both commission and omission on the part of our current “government.” But every other outrage listed  is, in my opinion, chaff. Just like fighter planes release metallic chaff to confuse the tracking of enemy radar, the Obama administration and their henchmen are working overtime to manufacture news stories of little real consequence in order to crowd out their numerous serious failings. As a result, the public finds it difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff … and Obama, Pelosi, Reid, etc. are doing their level best to skate through the governmental carnage they have created.

Now, dear reader, you might take some notice of the placement of such chaff on the evening TV news and in our biased print media … and ignore it. We have many too many serious scandals that are being conveniently buried by all this mostly-manufactured filler.
