Chaff

I am suffering from indignation fatigue due to a overabundance of national outrages … gender pay inequality, the Benghazi scandal, the Koch brothers’ political donations, the IRS’s Tea Party targeting scandal, climate change, the Fast and Furious government gun-running, the release of illegal-immigrant criminals, our botched foreign policy vis-à-vis Russia, the looming federal carbon tax, Obamacare disruptions to our health-care system, the return of school segregation, NSA eavesdropping, President Obama’s selective enforcement of our laws, Iran’s rush to atomic weaponry, the need to increase the minimum wage, Syria’s continued use of chemical weapons, extending unemployment benefits, continued lethargic national employment and economic growth, our refusal to approve the Keystone pipeline … and so on ad infinitum.

Perspicacious readers might have noticed that the above list contains numerous serious scandals of both commission and omission on the part of our current “government.” But every other outrage listed  is, in my opinion, chaff. Just like fighter planes release metallic chaff to confuse the tracking of enemy radar, the Obama administration and their henchmen are working overtime to manufacture news stories of little real consequence in order to crowd out their numerous serious failings. As a result, the public finds it difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff … and Obama, Pelosi, Reid, etc. are doing their level best to skate through the governmental carnage they have created.

Now, dear reader, you might take some notice of the placement of such chaff on the evening TV news and in our biased print media … and ignore it. We have many too many serious scandals that are being conveniently buried by all this mostly-manufactured filler.

Pajama Party

On Monday night the Senate Democrats (actually only 30 out of 55 of them) held a pajama party on the Senate floor to chatter and carp about their concerns centering on climate change … see: NY Times Story. The Democrat Senators who took a pass on these foolish festivities were from energy-producing states or were in jeopardy of loosing their seats in the upcoming fall elections because of Obamacare. Even pajama boy, President Obama’s doppelganger, never showed up for his cookies and milk.

No real new news actually developed during this dozer except that Harry Reid stepped up and warned our nation that global warming is real and something urgently must be done about it.  He then nodded off.  No concrete proposals. No laws suggested. No resolutions passed ... just a lot of hot air containing CO2 was expended by these puffed-up politicians posing and prancing for their sycophantic soporific audience. In this 15 hour talk-a-thon, actually only 5 hours were devoted to Senators'speeches. The rest of the time was spent in pillow fights and playing Yahtzee,

In truth, I think this pathetic midnight theater actually was “operation change the subject,” desperately trying to get all the bad news (Ukraine, Obamacare, the IRS scandal, etc.) off of the front page for at least one news cycle.

It didn’t work.

The Chicago Way

Al Capone
Today on talk radio Mark Styne used the term “The Chicago Way” to describe the tactic that David Plouffe, a “political adviser” of President Obama, is using to smear the Republican head of the House Oversight Committee, Darrell Issa (see: Huffington Post Story).  Plouffe zinged Issa on Twitter as “Mr. Grand Theft” and “Insurance Swindler,” referring to 30 and 40 year old possible blots on Issa’s record.  No matter that these charges were not legally pursued in either case, clearly these libels are meant to blunt Issa’s attempt to get to the bottom of the numerous Obama scandals … shades of Bill Clinton’s response to his many dishonors (particularly his vicious and press-abetted smears on the Special Prosecutor, Ken Starr.)

We see the Windy City Way repeated over and over again in the career of the President … often spearheaded by his consigliore, David Axelrod.  First, when Obama ran for the Illinois Senate and then later for the U.S. Senate … for the sordid details in both cases see: US Politics Story.  Even, lily-pure Mitt Romney was besmirched last year as best as could be done … in that he “murdered” the wife of one of his employees … and he tortured his dog on the top of his car.  Now, under the aegis of our President, the Obama administration has been exposed for more Al Capone-type thuggery, but on a far far grander scale … in the IRS’s targeted suppression of conservative groups and the sordid and far-ranging Justice Department wire-tapping of AP and Fox News reporters.  Representative Issa now has the unenviable task of getting to the bottom of these political outrages.

How could anyone be surprised by these Chi-Town methods ... really?

Afterward: See also: Breitbart Story for a more complete explanation of the charges against Issa.

Cornucopia

The Benghazi scandal … see: Weekly Standard Story

The IRS scandal … see: Washington Post Story

The Associated Press wiretap scandal … see: AP Story

The Gosnell conviction … see: Philadelphia Inquirer Story

And, Beyonce is pregnant again … see: Breitbart Story.  Perhaps, if a boy, they will name him Fidel?

Afterthought: These three major scandals are now tainting the Obama Cabinet: Benghazi involves the State Department, IRS-targeting involves the Treasury Department, and the AP-wiretaps involves the Justice Department.  Only one of these Administration members did not scurry down the ship's hawser onto the dock and steal away in January.  Hillary Clinton left State ... Little Timmy Geithner left Treasury ... but Eric Holder decided to stay on at Justice ... a decision that, I suspect, he will live to regret..
