Know-Nothings

I guess I don’t and will never understand people who are proud about what they don’t know. If I get caught in an information hole, I am embarrassed and try to fill it back up. 

These “know-nothings” don’t watch FoxNews. Some will not read the New York Times. Others don’t want to know any details about Obamagate. Too many won’t follow the debate about climate change ... they just know that it’s going to burn us alive. I myself even resent my wife’s subscribing online to that rag of a newspaper, the Boston Globe ... but I do chuckle when she reads me its dellusional stories.

People’s information tastes are fickled ... and often driven by fads and cocktail party conversation. However, wearing ignorance as a badge of honor has me baffled.

Enabling the Enablier

Not surprisingly the recently released Wikileaks' e-mails hacked from John Podesta, Chairman of Hellary "The Enabler" Clinton's campaign, reveal an unsettling close relationship between many media personalities and Podesta. And it is sad to say "not surprisingly" because the media has increasingly become stenographers for the Democrat party ever since the Watergate scandal in the early 1970s ... that's 45 years of creeping media enabling to the point where, now, it is the expected norm. In the first three presidential and vice presidential debates we have witnessed clear thumb-on-the-scale attempts by the media moderators to swing the results to the Democrats ... all the while feigning impartiality.

Below are just a few recent e-mails revelations showing the extent of these cozy and unhealthy media relationships with Podesta ... all pulled directly from The Drudge Report (one media outlet still holding out):

One can only hope ... although these reporting lapses must first be revealed to the the American public in general. And how might this happen? Certainly not through the establishment media ...

Free Speech on Campus

My wife was taken aback and so am I with a recent op-ed in the Boston Globe advocating a return to free speech codes at colleges and universities ... surprisingly written by none other than Janet Napolitano, the current president of the California University System ... see: Boston Globe Story. Our former head of Homeland Security and a clear Liberal, Ms. Napolitano is to be commended for her bold stance ... even though she is not the first recently to return to this long-held American principle. That nod goes to the University of Chicago ... see: New York Times Story for a thoughtful and well-stated avowal of kicking all this current silly Liberal newspeak to the curb.

My question therefore is: Where are all our so-called bastions of liberal thought and learning, the Ivy League schools, on this critical pedagogical issue?

[Sound of crickets] ...

Black and White and Red All Over

The Boston Globe is publishing a fake newspaper tomorrow (Sunday) to mimic and disparage Donald Trump and his espoused immigration policies ... see its editorial HERE. This is depicted as quite a radical departure for a major metropolitan newspaper. But, to me, it is business as usual. I have lived near Boston for almost 35 years and, during this entire span, the Globe has been concocting or supressing its news to push its liberal agenda ... including a number of supposed true-to-life columns by Mike Barnacle that were either plagarized or figments of his left-wing imagination. The Globe eventually parted ways with Barnacle (he is now a respected talking-red-head on MSNBC) although it may have called him back for this faux Trump edition.

No mater who the Republican nominee is this summer, it is certain that the Globe will endorse Hellery for president ... even if she is sporting an orange jump suit.

Afterthought: I have been quite critical of Trump ... but I am a pop gun ... this is a howitze.

Durgin Park

The Boston Globe has had a contest to describe a uniquely Boston experience in 50 words. Two of my talented friends have had their submissions accepted. But mine, I think, sits on the cutting room floor ... possibly because of my un-PC reference to Indian pudding. Therefore, I have decided to reproduce this 58 year-old Boston memory here and the Globe be damned:

Very long ago a bunch of us Dartmouths road-tripped to Boston for Wheaton dates. But first we dined at Durgin Park ... with its surly waitresses and thick prime rib. Starving and poor, I could only afford the halibut, called "poor-man's lobster." I ended with Indian pudding. Delicious! Wheaton was diminished.

I just checked Durgin Park's menu on-line. It no longer offers Indian pudding.

The Clinton Fog Machine

The nonprofit Clinton Foundation has set new records for charitable sleaziness and contributor opaqueness. Even that Pravda spin-off, the Boston Globe, cannot help but point out some of the miasma arising from this Clinton political swamp ... see: Boston Globe Article. Here are two key quotes from this article:

While Hillary Rodham Clinton was secretary of state, foreign donations sharply accelerated to this arm of her husband's charitable works, enabling its operations to grow by 75 percent from 2010 to 2013, according to tax forms reviewed by the Globe. Government grants, nearly all from foreign countries doubled to $55,9 million in 2013 from $26.7 million in 2010, according to the records.

and:

Yet, a lack of promised transparency at Clinton’s health charity generated a recent round of negative  news. The Clinton Health Access Initiative failed to disclose its donors from 2010 to 2013, violating an agreement Hillary Clinton forged with President Obama as a condition of becoming secretary of state, an omission first reported by Reuters. The foundation on Feb. 6 released an incomplete list of contributors that provides general ranges of support, but lacks specific dates and doesn’t reveal the identities of individuals who collectively contributed less than $1 million.

Of course the numbers from 2014 and 2015 are still being obscured by the Clinton fog machine. Does this not all reek of the "Clinton way?" Reading between the lines of this article also tells me that this organization is instrumental in keeping the Clinton posse well compensated and ready to do battle in Hillary's campaign for president. Oh yes, and they do have many meetings around the world discussing health-care issues ... one can host a whole bunch of discussions for $56 million a year in just government donations.

But who can really keep track of money and people sloshing back and forth between these two organizations? Certainly not the Obama administration's IRS nor the Unite States' voters ...
