Fever-Ridden?

We’re not warming folks ... we’re actually slightly cooling. When the effects of urban “heat islands” has been removed from NOAA’s measurements, the new data show that, since 2005, the United States-has actually gotten slightly cooler ... see: Commentary Magazine Comments.

If one accepts the fact that CO2 is the bogeyman, then this may be because of our continuing conversion from coal-powered electricity production to natural gas instead ... or maybe even due to some of the wind and solar stuff. But, for whatever reason, do not believe all those banner headlines ... they’re just scare-mongering.

The best data available now says that, at least here in America, we do not “have a fever.”

Integration

In mathematics, integration is the process of estimating the area under any curve by assembling small slices of this area into a whole. This approximation is accurate only when these slices are made infinitely small. What does this have to do with things? Because when "scientist" estimate the temperature of our Earth, they must assemble a large number of temperatures across many sections of our planet (from four different surface data sets plus satellite data ... generally not collected simultaneously) into a whole ... and then interpolating and/or extrapolating this annual time series into a single number ... a very complicated process, see: Carbon Brief Explanation.

Reading through this process makes it clear to me that there are an enormous number of places where, in constructing this single annual temperature for the Earth, human judgment is applied to a wide range of deficiencies in the raw data. And when this human judgment is predisposed to a given result, then this desired result often happens. Then when one discovers that at least two of these raw data sets (NOAA and East Anglia) were post facto "adjusted" when they didn't produce the desired results, more suspicion overhangs this magical number that politicians use to claim that our Earth is warming. And finally, to get back to this notion of integration, the Earth's grid sections used in this process are not infinitely small. They range from 2 to 5 degrees of longitude and latitude ... enough to make a mathematician cringe ... particularly when we are talking of differences of tenths of a degree Celsius.

Cooking the Books

I have in the past revealed how the U.S.'s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) has been caught cooking the books on the data it keeps on U.S. temperature records ... "adjusting" early year's temperatures down to make current ones appear warmer ... to justify global warming claims ... see:  Bold-Faced. Now, John Hinderaker of the Powerline blog has uncovered the degree to which NOAA had adjusted things and it is quite startling ... see: Powerline Blog. The two charts below are what John has discovered ... the first being the actual data ... and the second, the cooked data:

Actual Data

"Cooked" Data

These comparisons are visually quite revealing, but, for the details of this chicanery, read John's blog entry. And these NOAA people call themselves "scientists!"

Bottom line (literally): When government takes it upon itself to deceive its populous, its populous should throw these scoundrels out.

Culture of Corrumpion

Today's unemployment numbers were a shock! Estimates were for 150,00 to 200,000 new jobs to be created ... the actual reported number was 38,000 ... quite a miss ... see: New York Times Article. Still the unemployment rate fell from 5.0% to 4.8% ... a big drop considering the paltry new jobs being created. This was because the US workforce participation shrank by an almost unprecedented 500,000 after months of steady gains ... very suspicious. These mostly poor "statistics" could not have been better news for Hellery Clinton for a number of reasons:

1) They should keep the Federal Reserve Bank from raising interest rates this or next month or maybe not until December ... auguring well for the incumbent party in an election year

2) Like what was hinted at on CNBC this morning, if the true employment numbers were actually higher, they can be put in the bank and pulled out this coming November ... right before the presidential election

3) The Obummer administration can still brag about this (phony) low unemployment rate caused by this suspiciously large workforce shrinkage

Am I suggesting that the Bureau of Labor Statistics has become politicized and fiddles its reporting to help Democrats? Yes I am. And it is at least the third time that I think this has happened there in the last four years ... see: my Parboiled blog entry and the hyperlinks contained therein for the sad details. The Bureau of Labor Statistics, once a proud purveyor of the best data available, now seems to be engaging in subterfuge ... making up data to suit the political needs of its Washington bosses. And, it also seems that the stock market is beginning to discount these shenanigans ... for it is not down nearly as much as one might expect given today's dismal unemployment report. Perhaps Wall Street is rooting for Hellery?

If, as I suspect, the Bureau of Labor Statistics has been corrupted by this Obummer administration ... can we then add it to this administration's culture of corrupted ... the corrupt IRS (remember the Tea Party denials), the corrupted Justice Department (remember Fast and Furious), the corrupted State Department (remember Benghazi), the corrupted EPA (remember the killing of the coal industry), the corrupted Secret Service, the corrupted Department of Education (remember Common Core), the emasculated Defense Department, the corrupted Veterans Administration, the corrupted NOAA (remember climate change data "adjustments"), the corrupted Health and Human Services Department (remember Obamacare), the corrupt Energy Department (remember Solyndra, etc), among many others?

Bold-Faced

In keeping with a trend of doctored government statistics, it seems no accident that most NOAA's climatologists are located in Boulder, CO ... for this U.S. government agency has perpetuated a gigantic bold-faced fraud on the American people ... adjusting down past temperature data to make it appear that the United States is warming up when, in fact, it is in a long-term cooling cycle. To understand the extent of this ruse, pay particular attention to the charts in this article: Real Science Story.

I have in the past written about this data slight-of-hand on the part of these NOAA scientists anxious to keep their lucrative sinecures ... even at the expense of the truth ... see: Global Smarming and The Heavy Hand of Government. But these latest revelations are far more extensive and damning than older discovered "adjustments."

I am truly aghast at how self-serving and mendacious these government scientists have become. Perhaps we might perform equivalent downward adjustments on their salaries, pensions and bonuses?

Facts ...

"Just the facts Ma'am"
are slippery things. NOAA, the United States' National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, is  now "adjusting" out the global-warming hiatus (15 years of no increase in global temperatures) by tinkering with the data it supposedly keeps sacred in order to reduce historic temperatures and increase current ones ... see: Daily Caller Story.

If the facts don't support your cockamamie theories, like any good scientists would do, then change the facts.

The Heavy Hand of Government

If you can't trust the government, then whom can you trust? Well, apparently NOAA's reputation as an impartial observer of global warming has once again taking a hit as it has been revealed that, over the last two years, it has been revising down older recorded temperature data from Maine in order to make it look like things have been warming up there ... and in the rest of the country ... when in fact they haven't. John Hinderaker of Powerline has just pointed this out in his recent blog posting ... see: Powerline Blog Entry for all the sordid details.

This fast and loose revisionism is about as smarmy as a supposed "scientific" government agency can possibly become. I realize that such malfeasance might get them in good with the current Democrat administration ... but, longer term, this can't be good. I suggest that this agency now is vying with the IRS, the State Department, HHS, the Secret Service, the EPA, the White House, the VA, the CDC, NSA, and the TSA for this year's Heavy Hand of Government medal ... an award which I just coined.

Perhaps we could have an annual ceremony for the winner ... with all the hoopla of Oscar Night? With Al Gore or Michael Moore as its Master of Ceremonies?

Non-Headlines

Yes, I know the difference between weather and climate … even if many in the media and politics don’t. And yes, last night’s heat and the last winter’s brutal cold weather here in Boston mean nothing in the broad sweep of “climate change.” But there are a few data points that give us a hint as to what really is occurring. First, one of the Obama administration's chief global-warming propaganda outlets, NOAA (the other being NASA), has quietly conceded that July, 1936 was the hottest one on record here in the U.S (remember the dust bowl?) … and not July, 2012 … see: Daily Caller Story. And please note, 1936 was before the supposed spike in CO2 levels.

The second interesting data point is that Antarctic sea ice has just reached a record expanse (even if the news media and our fearless leader would have you believe otherwise) … and winter has just begun in the southern hemisphere … see: Watts Up With That Revelation.

But don’t look to the front pages of the New York Times for this information. The stenographers there are too busy copying the White House talking points to consider such news "fit to print.”

By Hook or by Hockey Stick

It now seem that, in the United States at least, global cooling data has been transmogrified by our crazed scientists at NOAA ... into global warming data. The U.S. has actually been cooling since the 1930's, the hottest decade on record, whereas the real data has been cooked (if you will excuse the expression) to show just the opposite ... see: UK Telegraph Story.

For "scientists" to be so unscientific, to me, is astounding. But it's not like such silliness hasn't happened before ... just ask Galileo ... and Einstein ... and many others. But, given the ongoing economic cost of this particular dastardly duplicity, me thinks some punishment should be exacted from these charlatan scientists and those snot-nosed politicians who are in bed with them. Perhaps we could put them in stockades and shoot hockey pucks at them?

Breaking Wind

This Sunday’s New York Times magazine section had an Acrostic puzzle which, when solved, had a quote from David Mamet about how the weather strangely often follows the moods of man.  This fits nicely into what I was thinking about writing in today’s blog … hurricanes and global warming.

Just this past late May, NOAA predicted that the United States could have a very active hurricane season with 7 to 11 named hurricanes and with 3 to 6 being of the major category … see: NOAA News Story.  This then would be further justification for the global-warming alarmists … such as our chief climatologist in the White House.

Now we are almost through August and these dire predictions, once again, have proven to be a fart in a wind storm.  There have, so far, been no Atlantic-based hurricanes making 2013 one of the slowest starts of the hurricane season on record … see: Wordpress Story.  (Pay no attention to the chart there listing hurricanes by President … it is meaningless since it doesn’t account for the number of their terms.)

Yes, hurricane season is not over until November, so there is still time for this pessimism to come true.  Accuweather, a site I respect, predicts that things might still get dicey … see: Accuweather Story.  But if weathermen (not including Bill Ayers) can’t accurately forecast how things will develop in just the coming months, how are they going to nail how things will be over the next decade or two?

More Mendacity?

Does anyone truly believe this chart?  (Click on it to enlarge.) Or is this more of the type of global-warming data-fudging that we saw out of East Anglia University in England ... remember "hide the decline"?  This data is released by a division of NOAA (in Boulder, CO -- the Tea Party capital of the nation -- NOT!) which, in the past, has show a biased political bent.  God save the polar bears!!
