Today’s Poser

Gov. Andrew Cuomo

What do you do when two “scientists” offer diametrically opposing advice on things like wearing coronavirus masks, “social distancing” or re-opening our economy?

My take: Listen to your inner voice (if you are wrong, it is on you) ... and tell those petty tyrants, who might be telling you differently, to go have intercourse with themselves.

Pucking the Ice

At least two renowned climatologists had predicted that all the Arctic sea ice would have disappeared by last month. They were only off by about 1.6 million square miles ... see: UK Telegraph Article ... or 21% more than there was in 2012.

A funny thing about our current bunch of "scientists" ... if all their theorizing and computer modeling comes up with a prediction ... and that prediction doesn't pan out ... they don't scrap their theories or their flawed models ... no, they just go back and change their source data and then double down on their mistakes with lies and obfuscations ... usually with the blessings of shame-faced world poobahs ... including you-know-who in this country.

What a sad day for what used to be called science ... and Al Gore is going to start campaigning for Hellary Clinton. Good! They deserve each other. Two penguins of a feather ...

Webbed Feet

Water World (starring Kevin Costner) was a stink bomb of a movie ... it was nicknamed Fishtar. It dealt with our world when all land had disappeared below the waves. Now scientists have returned to this panicky ending of civilization  ... as a result of ... you guessed it ,,, global warming. And when we all will need to deal with these rising waters (I thought Obummer was going to fix that), we will have evolved physically with webbed feet, gills and cat's eyes ... see: Climate Depot Bit of Hysteria. Another stink bomb.

I think that many "scientists" these days somehow have lost their way ... and, like most people in our social-media world, are just interested in making headlines.

By Hook or by Hockey Stick

It now seem that, in the United States at least, global cooling data has been transmogrified by our crazed scientists at NOAA ... into global warming data. The U.S. has actually been cooling since the 1930's, the hottest decade on record, whereas the real data has been cooked (if you will excuse the expression) to show just the opposite ... see: UK Telegraph Story.

For "scientists" to be so unscientific, to me, is astounding. But it's not like such silliness hasn't happened before ... just ask Galileo ... and Einstein ... and many others. But, given the ongoing economic cost of this particular dastardly duplicity, me thinks some punishment should be exacted from these charlatan scientists and those snot-nosed politicians who are in bed with them. Perhaps we could put them in stockades and shoot hockey pucks at them?

High-Wire Marco

In an effort to nip the 2016 Presidential candidacy of Marco Rubio in the bud, a “gotcha journalist” from GQ magazine recently asked him “How old is the Earth?” (see: LA Times Story). Here is Marco Rubio’s full reply:
I'm not a scientist, man. I can tell you what recorded history says, I can tell you what the Bible says, but I think that's a dispute amongst theologians and I think it has nothing to do with the gross domestic product or economic growth of the United States. I think the age of the universe has zero to do with how our economy is going to grow. I'm not a scientist. I don't think I'm qualified to answer a question like that. At the end of the day, I think there are multiple theories out there on how the universe was created and I think this is a country where people should have the opportunity to teach them all. I think parents should be able to teach their kids what their faith says, what science says. Whether the Earth was created in 7 days, or 7 actual eras, I'm not sure we'll ever be able to answer that. It's one of the great mysteries.
I say “gotcha journalist” because I have yet to see the same question asked of a leading Democrat even though, according to the referenced LA Times article, 41% of Democrats are creationists and believe that the Earth was created by God within the last 10,000 years. I thought Rubio’s answer was quite reasonable, albeit political, considering that he doesn’t want to offend those voters who might not believe the scientists who say that our orb has been around for about 4.5 billion years (which I believe). He was walking a high wire between these two diametrically opposed views and, I think, did a fine job of avoiding this “journalist’s” gotcha trap.

And of course, the echo chamber of the national media has jumped on Rubio for his response ... as to be expected.  The Democrats and the left-leaning press do a fine job of respecting diversity except when it comes to Republicans and fundamentalist Christians.  Now I have a suggestion … let this same "journalist" travel to Iran and ask Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (or even Barack Obama for that matter) if he believes in that the 12th Imam will someday re-appear and herald in the Apocalypse. Or maybe he could just ask Joe Lieberman if one should eat meat cooked in its mother’s milk.

What passes for journalism today is shameful.
