Cuba No, Yankee Si

President Obummer travels to Cuba Sunday to prostrate himself in front of this decrepit monument to Communism. He, of course, has taken this opportunity in his last months in office to try to burnish his tarnished legacy by emulating Nixon's opening to China. This bit of capitulation would make some sense if there was any indication that the Castro brothers were inclined to relax their iron grip on this island nation. Unfortunately this seems not the case. Even Obummer's meeting with dissidents while there seems to be a staged production with very little chance that he will encounter the genuine articles ... see: L. A. Times Story.

In his last debate appearance in Miami, Marco Rubio excoriated Obummer for this Cuban trip saying:
Nothing will change for the Cuban people … In fact things are worse, than they were before this opening. The only result of “the opening” was that the Cuban government had more sources of money.
See: The Guardian Story for more details.

Lastly, do not be surprised if Obummer, while groveling in Havana, does not cave in on our relinquishing of the U.S. Guantanamo Bay naval base ... much like the then-President Jimmy Carter caved on returning the U.S. Canal Zone to Panama. This of course would force Congress to allow his clearing this prison of Islamist combatants ... which would be another sour taste of Obummer's egotistical rule.

Afterward: See: USA Today Story.

Abetting ISIS

Recruitment for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria is helped by:

- the Guantanamo Prison for foreign combatants

- using the terms "jihadi" or "radical Islam"

- stronger vetting of Muslim immigrants

- American bombing of the ISIS oil infrastructure

 - the Second Amendment of our Constitution

- climate change ... aka, global warming

- Israel's retaliation toward Palistanian stabbers

- investigating certain American mosques

- tighter airline screenings

-  the printing of the Koran on cheap paper

- Donald Trump's hairdo

- increased pricing of Girl Scout cookies

So sayeth Obummer and the rest of the Democrats.

Observations

Here are a few short cranky observations that have come to me as a result of all the societal roiling that is now taking place:

- Is nothing sacred anymore? After the Supreme Court decision on gay marriage, Valarie Jarrett had the White House bathed in the rainbow colored lights of the homosexual community. Perhaps next we might put the head of a penis atop the Washington Monument?

- Mexico, it is felt, has designs on reacquiring much of the Southwest United States that it lost in the Mexican-American War. This movement even has a name,  the Reconquista Movement ... see: Wikipedia Entry. The simple strategy that Mexico is using is to flood this region with Mexicans ... and then have them, by sheer strength of numbers, vote for U.S. succession and to rejoin Mexico. My candid thoughts on this possibility is first to allow Mexico to re-acquire California ... just as long as it also assumes all of its crushing debts and entitlement obligations ... and grants Mexican citizenship to Governor Jerry Brown. After a bit, it might then have second thoughts about this brand of imperialism.

- Macy's has just stopped carrying all products that sport the Donald Trump name ... because of his comments on illegal immigrants coming in from Mexico. Yes, I can understand this wimpy-form of political correctness on Macy's part. But, if Macy customers were going to buy fewer Trump products because of this man's recent comments, they are obviously going to buy even fewer of them now that Macy' is no longer stocking them.

- Cuba and the United States are reopening embassies in each other's countries. However, Cuba says that it will not re-establish diplomatic relations until the United States cedes back Guantanamo and also stops broadcasting Radio Marte (like the old Radio Free Europe) into Cuba ... see: Breitbart Story. My question is ... who is going to populate these embassies if we don't have mutual diplomatic relations? Or does this mean that President Obama has already caved to Cuba on these two issues?

Obama Nation Update

Back in early 2008, well before Barack Obama was elected, I made some predictions as to what might happen if this were to occur … see: Obama Nation. I here list those predictions that came true or are close to coming true:

- The U.S. will recognize Hamas
- Taxes will be increased across the board
- The budgets for the Defense Department and U.S intelligence activities will be slashed
- Sharia law will be made a local option throughout the U.S.
- All U.S. soldiers will be out of Iraq and Afghanistan by July 1, 2009
- All wire-taps will be stopped and those who have been tapped will be informed and any such evidence collected will be destroyed
- Illegal immigrants will be granted amnesty and given Social Security benefits
- Presidential pardons – Lynne Stewart and all current and past Guantanamo prisoners
- Oil will hit $200 per barrel
- A national carbon tax will be endorsed by the U.S. and implemented through the U.N.

9.3 out of 22 isn't a bad batting average.

Summer Camp

Why is it that we have to get our real news from the British press?  I guess that our national media is too concerned with more important things … like the Christie/Obama photo-op on the Jersey shore.  Anyhow, it seems that the hunger strike at our Guantanamo, Cuba prison camp for recalcitrant terrorists is getting worse … see: The Guardian Story.  And, of course, this has gotten the liberal nut-job protesters’ juices flowing.  There are now five prisoners in the hospital and 36 of them being force-fed.  My heart is bleeding a gush.

Unfortunately this article has a distinctly sympathetic bent … describing in detail the “humiliations” that these prisoners are experiencing … again, my heart is breaking.  My attitude toward Gitmo is that I can’t understand why all these prisoners have not been long ago tried in a military court … and a goodly portion of them made to smoke their last cigarette in front of a fusillade of rifles?  And why we would consider releasing any of these animals is beyond me.  The known recidivism rate among those who have already been freed is north of 30%.  I suspect that the real rate is a lot higher.

Perhaps I might have a solution for our pompous Prexy. Why don’t we just quietly depopulate all the guards from this posh summer camp … and then unleash multiple drone strikes on it?  How would this be any different from what we do in Yemen or Pakistan?

Justice Delayed

It's been almost three years since Nidal Hasan killed thirteen people and wounded more than 24 others at Fort Hood, Texas in one of the few successful acts of domestic terror during the Obama presidency.  For some callow and probably political reason, this administration has labeled this heinous act "workplace violence."  Now relatives of the victims in this incident are attempting to get it called what it was ... an act of terrorism (see: AP Story) in order that they might receive just the military benefits due them.  (Contrast this modest request with the largess that was passed out to relatives after the 9/11 destruction of the World Trade Centers).

Even more disturbing is the time it has taken to bring this Islamic zealot to justice in this case.  Many suspect that Nidal's refusal to shave off his beard for "religious reasons" has been a convenient excuse to delay his trial until after the upcoming presidential elections.  Fortunately, a military court has just decreed that the beard must come off (see: NBC News Story) ... but too late to remind voters of how silly Obama's administration has been in dealing with this atrocity.  But then, let us also note that the still-living 9/11/2001 conspirators are just now coming to justice in military tribunals at Guantanamo, Cuba.  (One can partially blame George W. Bush for this travesty ... although Attorney General, Eric Holder, had also pooped the bed big time on this one.)

"Justice delayed is justice denied."  How true ... how true.

Rush to Judgment

I am frequently derided for listening to Rush Limbaugh ... often by my blog readers. Even my wife makes me switch stations on the car radio if Rush is on. However, looking past Rush's ego and bombast, almost every day I get a novel insight from his talk-show commentary. For instance today he opened his show by pointing out how the government (including Obama) is now saying that Al-Qaeda has been substantially weakened even to the point where they are no longer a factor in Afghanistan ... see: Obama disses Al-Qaeda.

Rush, in an ah-ha moment, perceptively pointed out that, as little as nine months ago, the main-stream-media, Congressional Democrats, Eleanor Clift, and Obama were continuously and vociferously pointing out that the U.S. invasion of Iraq, our Enhanced Interrogation Techniques (aka, torture) and our Guantanamo prison were the best recruiting tools that Al-Qaeda has ever had ... thousands upon thousands of Islamic youth were flocking to sign up for their amorous date with those seventy-two virgins. Excuse me, you can't have it both ways my little-furry-friends-who-follow-each-other-into-the-North-sea. Either the Bush administration was right in fighting Islamic terrorism the way it did ... or Obama is talking up his sleeve when he says Al-Qaeda is on life support (perhaps to grease the way for his capitulation in Afghanistan?)

Good Riddance

George W. Bush is comfortably ensconced back in Texas … making Laura’s morning coffee and licking his wounds. And I say, “Good riddance!” Clearly, our worst President can no longer run up huge budget deficits which our children and grandchildren will have no hope of repaying. He no longer can escalate military offenses in far away lands where American sons and daughters will go the die or lose their limbs. He can no longer gaff his way through unscripted press conferences and photo ops. He can no longer try to reward all this nation's illegal aliens with citizenship and Social Security benefits. He can no longer nominate people to his administration who are tainted with malfeasance or unethical pasts. He can no longer sully America’s standing with our foreign friends and enemies alike with his naïve diplomatic judgments. He can no longer reward his supporters with larded-up government spending. He can no longer ruin our economy with his constant doom and gloom predictions. He can no longer wage his petty “war on terror.” He can no longer endorse steps to alleviate global warming. He can no longer keep Guantanamo open so that peace-loving Islamists are constantly tortured and kept in subhuman conditions. And he can no longer fiddle-fart around while Rome burns.

Thank God for the wisdom of the American electorate.
