Snapped

A white man in his early twenties clearly snapped yesterday ... going into a black church in Charleston, South Carolina last night and shooting and killing at least nine worshipers ... see: Washington Post Article. The suspect, as of this posting, is still at large, therefore the exact motivation for these murders is not clear ... although one must surmise that there is a large racial component to them.

Is this tragedy a tipping point in the seven-year deterioration of race relations in the United States? I surely hope not ... but I can clearly foresee the coming storm of protesters and pundits trying their very best to make it so ...  to include Al Sharpton and maybe even President Obama (if he behaves true to form). In contrast, the national media did very little to inflame people after the Fort Hood massacre ... with a larger number of victims. They know well how to perform their craft.

There must be a lesson to be learned here ... which I seriously doubt will be heeded. And that is that racing baiting for whatever purpose is evil ... and likely to cause great societal dislocation. The radical Muslims can stir the pot enough to get Major Nidal Hasan to attack innocent soldiers at Fort Hood ... just like a backlash to the incidents in Ferguson and Baltimore probably caused a clearly deranged man to kill innocent worshipers in Charleston.

I passionately decry what just occurred in Charleston and my heart bleeds for the victims ... but I also condemn those wild-eyed crazies who would take this tragedy as an opportunity to incite violence as an appropriate response ... and believe me I expect a large parcel of such miscreants.

Calling in the Calvary

CHARGE!
It seems that Iraqi officials are having second thoughts about their [supposed] decision not to have the United States leave any forces behind when we pulled out in December, 2011. Now they are pleading for the United States army to return … possibly the U.S. Third Calvary … see: UK Telegraph Story. This is because ISIS is now threatening to invade Bagdad and the existing Iraqi army has proven as effective as a brownie-scout troop.

Irony of ironies, the U.S. Third Calvary is stationed at Fort Hood, Texas … the very place where that the jihadist, Major Nidal Hasan, shot and killed 13 people and wounded 32 others in 2009… in what Attorney General Eric Holder has classified as a case of "workplace violence."

Whatever President Obama’s decision is in this matter, I’m pretty certain he will not be blowing the bugle and screaming to our troops, “CHARGE!”

Big Bang Theories

The heinous and gruesome Patriot's Day bombings at the finish line of the Boston Marathon are still being sorted out.  The best reporting that I can find to date is here:  NY Times Article But there are a number of comments and theories that are reflecting on what clearly appears to be a terrorist(s) act:

- President Barack Obama, who has not yet indicated that this was an act of terror, said, that “any responsible individuals, any responsible groups, will feel the full weight of justice.” … virtually the same pledge he gave shortly after the Benghazi terrorist attacks in which four Americans were killed … over six empty months ago.  Please reference: ABC News Story.

- Attorney General Eric Holder may think that these attacks were an act of “sports-related violence” just as he is thought to have caused the labeling of the Fort Hood shootings (in which 13 Americans were slaughtered and 30 injured by a Muslim shouting “Allahu Akbar”) “an act of workplace violence”  Please reference: Main Justice Story.

- Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, I think, might have called these deadly explosions another “failure of human understanding” like he did the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11.  Please reference: Boston Globe Story.

- Obama's "neighbor," Bill Ayers  has been reliably reported to be in the Chicago area still, and, although he enjoys a good bombing now and then, could not be connected to this incident. Please reference: NY Times Story.

Justice Delayed

It's been almost three years since Nidal Hasan killed thirteen people and wounded more than 24 others at Fort Hood, Texas in one of the few successful acts of domestic terror during the Obama presidency.  For some callow and probably political reason, this administration has labeled this heinous act "workplace violence."  Now relatives of the victims in this incident are attempting to get it called what it was ... an act of terrorism (see: AP Story) in order that they might receive just the military benefits due them.  (Contrast this modest request with the largess that was passed out to relatives after the 9/11 destruction of the World Trade Centers).

Even more disturbing is the time it has taken to bring this Islamic zealot to justice in this case.  Many suspect that Nidal's refusal to shave off his beard for "religious reasons" has been a convenient excuse to delay his trial until after the upcoming presidential elections.  Fortunately, a military court has just decreed that the beard must come off (see: NBC News Story) ... but too late to remind voters of how silly Obama's administration has been in dealing with this atrocity.  But then, let us also note that the still-living 9/11/2001 conspirators are just now coming to justice in military tribunals at Guantanamo, Cuba.  (One can partially blame George W. Bush for this travesty ... although Attorney General, Eric Holder, had also pooped the bed big time on this one.)

"Justice delayed is justice denied."  How true ... how true.
