Leap Year
It doesn’t take the Earth exactly 365 days to orbit the sun … the average year takes 365.2422 days … so calendars occasionally to add an extra day to keep things in synch … the 29the of February … an extra day to study Black history.
The rule is for adding this day, leap date: if the year is divisible by 4, add it … unless divisible by 100, don’t add it. Not done yet … if year is divisible by 400 … like 2000 … ignore the 100 rule and add it.
Clear as mud? And for those born on this adjustment (leap) day, make up your own birthday celebration rule!

Suggestion
It’s apparent that some countries are emptying their prisons and sneaking these inmate into the United States. Venezuela and Cuba are particularly complicit.
Then of course these miscreants cannot chuck their criminal ways … and end up in our slammers for our taxpayers’ support for years on end.
It seems that it makes no sense to send these cons back to serve their time in their native countries … since we cannot rely on these countries not to spring them again.
Solution: Charge the home countries for these illegal alien criminals’ room and prison board … plus vigorish … on an annual basis. Refusal to pay these bills could result in all kinds of repercussions … use your imagination.
Afterward: We might even consider applying this process to legal immigrants.

Since the percentage of those scheduled for a hearing who actually show up is generally less than 10% … these judges have a long-term sinecure with a case load of no-shows, thats what I call a cush job.
They might even stay home and only come to work in case some illegal is foolish enough to show up.
Afterward: When Trump gets re-elected, might he cause these sanctuary heatings to be double, triple or even quadruple booked … knowing that most illegals won’t appear … and expedite the deportation of mst fraudulent sanctuary seekers?

Russian Policy Missteps
The cleavage in the dominate policy toward Russia began shortly after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. … when it floated the idea of its joining NATO. President Clinton rejected this initiative while, at the same time, promoting China with “mist favored nation” trading designation.
My point is this — could we have nudged Russia onto a more benign tract … maybe with a conditional membership in NATO? And, instead of recommending the doling out of Russian industries to friends of Putin, the oligarchs … his source of power … maybe somehow distribute ownership to the Russian people .
We botched an opportunity. … I think it was Jeffery Sachs who was the U.S. adviser who flibbed the dub.

In Russia, dissident Alexi Navalny had been sentenced to 19 years in a Siberian gulag and fined over $15,000 for fraud … before he mysteriously died recently. Putin’s Russia is obviously a tyranny.
In four U.S. venues, dissident Donald Trump has been charged with 91 felony counts with the potential of 641 years in prison. He has also recently been fined $355 million plus $99 million interest at 9% for the victimless crime of supposed fraud for overvaluing assets in order to obtain loans which were paid back in full.
Is the U.S.therefore a bigger tyranny than Putin’s Russia? And is Trump’s life in jeopardy?

I, like most Republicans, have no problem with providing Ukraine with military aid … as long as it is accounted for honestly … and used against Russia.
But I do have a problem … given that country’s reputation for rampant corruption and Joe Biden’s involvement in same … with giving Zelensky a blank check to pay police and firefighters, the pensions of civil workers and supporting Ukrainian businesses. This country needs to do these types of things itself … or with the help of the EU.
We have already given Ukraine over $100 billion of unaudited aid … both military and otherwise. $60 billion more seems quite excessive … particularly since the EU is stepping up its support … finally!
