Greasing the Skids

The Republican Party in Colorado has pulled a fast one ... disenfranchising the GOP voters there from having a say in selecting their delegates to the GOP presidential convention in Cleveland, Ohio in July. In a series of sly establishment moves, they have awarded all 36 Colorado delegates to this convention to Ted Cruz ... and Donald Trump is furious as a consequence ... see: Denver Post Story.

These types of delegate stealing tactics are being attempted across the country ... South Carolina, Tennessee and Missouri ... to make Cruz delegate richer at the expense of Trump. This is the Republican establishment fighting back under the assumption that a Trump candidacy would cost it the White House and at least one house of Congress. Whether this is the case or not is disputable but is what rationale is being forwarded for these hard-ball actions on the part of the Republican National Committee.

And, while Cruz is basking in this current RNC attention ... thinking that it is greasing the skids for him, he might be surprised, come convention time, when he is jettisoned in favor of a more establishment candidate like Kasich or even a parachuted-in Paul Ryan.

Performing this way on the part of the GOP runs the risk of causing many of its voters to stay home in November ... which creates a possible lose-lose situation if Donal Trump is denied the nomination. But would I vote for Cruz? Yes, if for no other reason than whom he would appoint to the Supreme Court. Would I vote for Kasich? Yes, he might even return us to fiscal sanity. Yes, Trump for his immigration stands. I would even hold my nose and vote for Ryan if it comes down to that. Anyone but Hellery.

Afterthought: The Republicans are Boy Scouts in the nomination process for their candidate when compared to the Democrats.

Reparations

Hillary Clinton, if she loses the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary to Bernie Sanders ... which now seems likely, she will need to stop the bleeding in the South Carolina primary. This means that the black vote there is very critical ... sooo, what better way to energize this voting block than to promise them something. What might this bribe be? How about money channeled through the age-old political promise of slavery reparations ... see: Breitbart Article?

Now I don;t know how the polling goes for reparations, but, if Hillary embraces this cause like she has gun control and Obummer's record, she will be lucky to carry two states if she is the Democrat nominee.

As far as reparations are concerned, Abraham Lincoln, when confronted with the huge causalities occurring in the Civil War, believed that this bloodshed would continue until there was an equivalence to the prior suffering of the slaves in his country. If this was enough reparations for Lincoln, it is so for me too.

Erasing the Past

Utah is now being asked to rename Dixie State University ... see: Fox News Story ... and Memphis, Tennessee is about to dig up Confederate General Nathan Forrest's grave and remove his statue to be sold to the highest bidder ... see: Breitbart Article. This frenzy to erase all vestiges of the Confederate States' legacy is picking up steam after South Carolina removed the Stars and Bars flag from the state capital grounds. To me this iconoclastic fury reminds me of the recent tragic historic site destructions by ISIS taking place in Syria and Iraq ... or of a jilted lover feverishly vandalizing his/her former mate's possessions.

What is next on our rabid Northerners' chopping block ... in order to attain national thought purity ... Dixie Cups?

Naive Nuts

A couple in South Carolina has discovered an image of Jesus Christ on a receipt from Walmart's don't yah know.  (See: above image and Walmart Miracle)  Now, as much as I admire this couple faith, I still classify them as naive nuts.  I believe that, if Jesus wanted to send a message to his flock, I suspect it wouldn't be on a Walmart receipt ... perhaps in 5,000-point bold Times New Roman type in the clouds on top of a giant rainbow?

Now, there are a number of other naive nuts that often surround such an event, viz:
- the crowd of acolytes who will pilgrimage to South Carolina to catch a glimpse of this receipt (probably for a hefty fee)
- the cable-news reporters who will, in hushed terms, probe and promote this "miracle"
- the guy who will spend $10,000 to buy this image on EBay
- the evangelist preachers who will point to this "sign" as a warning about our decaying society
