A kind reader referenced this Monty Python "Life of Brian" skit a while ago. I finally got around to looking it up. It is a backhanded paean to colonialism and even better than I remember. Enjoy!

Silly Season

President Trump has said and tweeted some things that rub many people the wrong way. In fact I strongly suspect that Trump secretly relishes tweaking his detractors. And this tactic very often works. Liberals, progressives, much of the media, even many squishes in the establishment ,,, and their fellow travelers ... are tying themselves in granny knots to show their contempt for our newly elected president. It does seem that one is not allowed to go half-way in exhibiting one's "resistance" to Trump.

So we have a D-list comedian, Kathy Griffen, pretending to cut off Trump's bloody head, late-night TV and SNL sapping the imaginations of their writers trying to smear with innuendo and even slander Trump. We are even taken aback by Stephen Colbert saying that Trump is Putin's cock holster (implying fellatio). The list goes on and on exhaustively. Now we see the New York City Public Theater putting on Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar" in which Caesar is dressed as Trump and is stabbed to the cheers of the partisan crowd (described in the above paragraph) ... see: Daily Wire Story

This Trump "resistance" has become so commonplace, sophomoric, banal and even sinister that we are clearly entering a silly season. Liberals are straining at the yoke to find new ways of insulting Trump ... made even more frustratingly inane by the fact that these intended insults seem to roll right off of our president's back. As a result of this overdoing of this Trump Derangement Syndrome, those on the left are in danger of becoming parodies of themselves ... kinda like a skit out of Monty Python ... if they haven't crossed this threshold already.

Some Poignant Questions

"Poignant" may not be the right word ... perhaps "embarrassing" or even "rhetorical" would be better? Anyway these queries should somehow be answered:

How many Somali refugees have been settled in Wellesley? Bethesda? Oak Park? Brentwood?

How many more years can college tuition increases significantly outpace our inflation rate?

Why did no financial executives or politicians go to jail as a result of the sub-prime mortgage crisis?

Will Amazon keep its market share as it raises prices finally to generate merchandising profits?

What will be our appropriate response be to North Korea or Iran after their first atomic  attack?

What does Chuck Schumer feel is gained by slowing down President Trump's appointments?

Will the media ever revert back to ,nationalistic jingoism like in the early Twentieth century?

Was the Monty Python canary really dead and did the cheese shop have any cheese whatsoever?

Hypocritic Oath

Time for an update on A Monty Python Skit. Former attorney Lynne Stewart is still going strong 34 months after she was released from prison because her doctor swore she had at most 18 months to live as a result of breast cancer ...  see: NY Post Update. Some constitution this woman must have ... only it is not our Constitution ... which she hates with a burning passion. For she was the lawyer for the "blind sheik" who had masterminded the original attempt to take down the World Trade Center with a truck bomb in 1993. However, this evil woman went beyond defending this terrorist ... she smuggled the sheik's directives out of his prison cell and to his followers. Are we allowed to say she was a "snivelling traitor?"

But not the cleverest of traitors for she was caught and sentenced to 10 years in prison of which she served less than 3 due to a sympathetic doctor's (purposefully?) bad prognosis. So now she is still actively proselytizing her poisonous rhetoric to possible emulators of the sheik's ilk ... ick!

It would seem that this doctor made a mistake when he/she graduated from medical school ... and took the hypocritic oath.

The Monty Python British comedy team had a recurring snippet called “Silly Walks” … see: Youtube Video  Such inanity must run in the English gene pool for an artist there, Tracey Emin (see: Wikipedia Bio), has just sold her unkempt bed for 2.54 million pounds ($4.4 million) … see: Breitbart Story.

I truly believe that the Monty Python gang was on to something big. But unfortunately they were maybe just a little too early for today’s insipid society … or perhaps they didn’t quite know how to market themselves for the mega-quid.

Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge

The Monty Pyton players had a classic routine called "Wink, wink, nudge, nudge (enough said?)" in which Eric Idle confronts Terry Gilliam about his conjugal relations with his wife (for a good checkle, please view this video: Flying Circus Bit).  Although President Obama wasn't referring to sex, he was having a wink-wink-nudge-nudge moment with Russia's President Medvedev in South Korea recently when he, on an open mic, suggested that, after this fall's election, he would have much greater latitude in dismantling the U.S.'s missile defense system.  The Barry has already canceled the installation of this system in Poland and the Czech Republic (see: Maxi-Shield) and clearly has an animosity toward Ronald Reagan's missile defense shield in general.

Here is the actual open-microphone exchange:

President Obama: "On all these issues, but particularly missile defense, this, this can be solved but it’s important for him to give me space."

President Medvedev: "Yeah, I understand. I understand your message about space. Space for you…"

President Obama: "This is my last election. After my election I have more flexibility."

President Medvedev: "I understand. I will transmit this information to Vladimir [Putin], and I stand with you."

One could now draw a parallel between Terry Gilliam's relations with his fictional wife and Barack Obama's congress with the American public.

Phobia-phobic

Let me tiptoe into this subject. Carl Paladino, the GOP candidate for governor in New York State, recently said that parents should not expose their young children to Gay Pride parades. See this story. Now, I did a quick scan of the Internet via Google and came up with the following images taken at these parades … see above and below. And believe me; I have excluded a great many frontal-nude pictures that are even more egregious (showing what is said in “Monty Python” as the “naughty bits”). Yes, I go along with candidate Paladino in his assertion about such parades are damaging to young minds.  It just seems that a civilized society should have its limits … unfortunately, most of which have been trampled on decades ago.  Why, to show that I have no problem with gays, must I also have no problem with such out-of-bounds behavior?  And more to the disturbing point ... are all the homosexuals taking part in these festivities "proud" of these all-too-frequent images?

And on a similar theme … what’s with this term “homophobic?” I don’t think many in our modern culture are irrationally fearful of gays. Just as most labeled “racists” are not irrationally fearful of blacks. Yet, I am a little “islamophobic” in that I have seen what some people in this religion are capable of doing to apostates.
