Deflection

The Democrats are masters at deflection. All these California wildfires are not due to forest mismanagement on the part of these woke Libs. They are caused by that ogre “climate change” which, in turn, is Trump’s fault for pulling out of that Paris climate fraud.

Increased crime rates in many cities around the country are not due to open borders and sanctuary-city policies.  They are caused by Trump’s xenophobia and his racism.

Trump was involved in Russian collusion to win against Hillary ... when just the opposite was true. This trope is classic deflection or also known as transference by the shrinks — accusing me of doing what you, in fact, are doing.

I actually am surprised that the Dems haven’t started to make this same case — Trump is the true deflector ... and his investigation into all the intelligence community‘s malfeasance in 2016, 2017 and 2018 is to cover up for what his minions are doing today. This would be known as deflecting a deflection.

Shush ... not too loud!

Normalcy

A primary reason that Joe Biden is leading in the Democrat polls ... and a possible reason he might be elected is that he offers “a return to normalcy.” This supposedly means that all the lunacy and chaos that America has supposedly experienced over the last three years will supposedly disappear and the country’s anxiety level will be substantially reduced.

Clearly there is some genius to this strategy ... if the Dems and their media can convince the American voter that this will occur.   But there are some speed bumps to be reckoned with:

One will likely be AG Barr’s investigation into the investigation. If this inquiry turns up substantial wrongdoing on the part of the Obama administration ... as I believe ... then it will become obvious that the previous presidency, although appearing “normal” on the surface, was corrupt underneath. And Biden binding himself to Obama means this might not have been such a good idea.

Also, Donald Trump can make the argument ... as he already has started doing ... that he has been cleaning up the debris from former administrations ... the last of which included Biden as a key player. He has acted as the sanitation department sweeping up the road apples left by, to name one, Obama’s parade.

And lastly, the Republicans can point out that the old normal was constructed on a foundation of globalism ... and that our country’s destiny is now nationalism. Giving up all the progress that Trump has made in this direction will be counterproductive and a loser in the long run. In other words, America cannot throw in the towel in round one of our competition with China for world hegemony.

Yes, Trump has changed the game ... a game in which we now have a chance of prevailing ... where we were sure losers under the old normal.

Distractions

“Look over there.” The left has shifted into overdrive to try to distract the American public from AG Bill Barr’s  looming investigation into the [Russian-collusion] investigation. Barr should be asking:

What were the predicates for opening this probe? Who authorized it? Was Comey involved? Was Loretta Lynch involved? Was Obama involved? Were foreign intelligence agencies involved? And what was the full extent of the spying on the Trump campaign? Wire taps? Moles? Set ups? How much government funding was expended? etc.

So to keep the public from focusing on these questions and answers, the media is and will be throwing up distractions. What are these obvious diversions ... whose release timings are carefully orchestrated? How about:

Constant impeachment speculation,  release of full Mueller report and backup documents, Trump’s tax returns from 1985-1994, contempt of Congress charges against Barr, possible Mueller testifying in Congress, etc. There will be many more ... particularly around the the time when IG Horowitz’s release of his report (within the month?) concerning the FISA court approval of spying on the Trump campaign. So, dear reader, attune your antenna to detect these up-coming purposeful media distractions.

Oh yes, did I not mention that these precisely-timed distractions also allow the media to ignore Trump’s booming economy?

Groundhog Day

Ptrsident Trump woke up this morning, went outside and saw his shadow. This means there are six more weeks until Robert Mueller ends his investigation.

Be Careful What You Wish for ...

You may just get it. The media's panties were in a double helix yesterday about Trump's claiming that there were 3 to 5 million illegal voters last November ... illegal aliens, dead people, multiple-state voters. So, media reporters badgered Sean Spicer, Trump's Press Secretary ... asking if Trump had any hard evidence of this voter fraud and, if he didn't, was he going to conduct an investigation into these charges? The media was expressing a wish.

An opening ...

This was the opening that Trump was waiting for ... and so he pounced ... and announced a national investigation into the levels of voter fraud from all sources. And those progressives, who claim that any attempts to keep our voting process kosher is trying to "suppress the vote", may be surprised by the degree of this illegal voting  ... that in turn needs to be suppressed! I do hope that this study is initiated, that it does prove, as I expect and on a bipartisan basis, that such vast voter fraud does exist ... and that this revelation spawns a call for a national voter registration card and possibly other rational remedies.

The media's wish would then be fulfilled ... but maybe not what they really wanted.

Many conservatives are even against such a study because they feel that Trump won the past election and so it is unnecessary ... and this study is just to assuage Trump's ego. However, they are naive and ignoring the future. If this fraud existed in 2016, it will also exist in 2018 and 2020 ... possibly even greater.

Let's get on with it and know for sure what is going on ...

Hate Crimes

Watching the local news this morning, I see that there was an incident in Harvard, MA where someone painted a swastika and other slurs on a large rock there. This is called a hate crime. There, in Harvard, neighbors were out in force repainting the rock white. And in my local community there also have been a rash of these incidents ever since Donald Trump was elected president. The question I have is why? Are people who identify with Trump so deplorable that they want to rub in their victory? Or are the losers feeling so aggrieved that they use such fakery as a way of fighting back? Like most things in life, it is a bit of both. There have been enough fake hate crimes discovered over the years that my antenna unfortunately automatically goes up whenever I hear of a new such affront.

I wish I knew what percentage of hate crimes were hoaxes ... but I do know that there are common enough that there is a sub-reddit site devoted to detailing them ... see: reddit Hate Crime Hoaxes. So what to do when one encounters the newest hate crime? My advice is to keep an open mind and pursue the resolution of such an incident with vigor until it can be definitely determine the validity of the accusation. If true, then suitably punish the offender with legal and/or social-ostracism means. If false, then try communicating to the aggrieved party how destructive such false claims can be. They damage the believability of the valid ones ... and, in extreme cases, use the criminal or civil legal system to discourage further such hoaxes. These guidelines, of course, need be adjusted for degrees of friendship and past veracity.

If the resolution is not to be determined, then one must accept the accuser's word ... but, doing so without an investigation is, IMHO, a sign of bleeding-heart liberalism.

Afterthought: The more I mull on things, the more I believe that the punishment for hoax hate crimes should be equivalent to that for actual ones.
