BS Meter

Mayor Peter Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana has announced his candidacy for the US presidency ... see: AP Story. A center plank in his platform joins many of his fellow announced candidates — climate change is our biggest security challenge.

Apparently Americans are supposedly waking up to this existential threat ... as determined by recent pedagogical polling ... see: Yale Study.

So am I convinced yet? Do I think that extreme weather events are increasing and will soon consume us? No, kind reader, I have been around too long and have a historic perspective ... and can search the Internet for the actual facts on hurricanes, floods, tornadoes and other extreme weather events. You, kind reader can duplicate these efforts to test the many hysterical news stories we are being fed on a daily basis.

Witness tornadoes in the US ... which we have been told are increasing dramatically. As you can view above, this is another non-fact ... like so many of the fabricated facts supposedly validating global warming: dying polar bears, melting Greenland glaciers, more severe hurricanes than times past (see: NOAA Study), California droughts and flooding, etc.

Kind readers, every time you hear another validating claim about the 12 years that we only have left ... your BS meter should read red. Go to Google (better DuckDuckGo) and do your own research ... like mine above. (Avoid Snopes and FactCheck.) And then I doubt you will vote for Mayor Peter or the rest of the climate alarmists.

La La Land

The responsibility of state governments is protecting their citizens from criminals and mayhem, building and maintaining certain infrastructure, spending taxpayers' funds in a fiscally responsible manner, executing plans to ameliorate potential natural disasters (floods, droughts, wildfires, earthquakes, etc.), higher educating their children, and working to otherwise better the lives of their citizens. California falls down on most of these fronts. Recent history shows that it cannot plan and execute solutions to at least four of these duties, fiscal responsibility, wildfire dangers, droughts and protecting its citizenry.

In this blog posting I will first focus on just one of these failings ... reducing the dangers of wildfires. Quite a while ago I wrote here about how totally ineptly California handled the natural danger of wildfires there ... see: California Burning. And now, eight years later, nothing seems to have changed. Los Angeles and surroundings are in the midst of the worst wildfires ever, requiring untold millions of dollars to keep more houses from burning down ... see: LA Times Article.These. same millions,  if they had been better spent on preventative measures, could have possibly averted this crisis.

Instead Governor Moonbeam and the liberal California establishment have focused their energies and shrinking discretionary funds on most everything else ... protecting illegal aliens, gun control, transgender everything, globalism, diversity and inclusion training, fighting global warming, etc.  -- the primary responsibilities of state governments, as listed above, have taken a back seat to the liberal agenda. Is it planning for the next drought? No. Is it really protecting its citizenry from imported criminals? No. Is it taking preventive measures against future wildfires? No. Is it on a path to fiscal sanity? No. I'm not even sure it is spending much effort in preparing for the next big earthquake,

And they want to secede from the Union! This really is La La Land ...

Drought Data

As a follow-up to my blog a few days back … see: Climate Disruptions where I pointed out that the number of serious weather events over the last 110 years do not seem to be clustered in recent years. (Thus, once again, debunking the wild-eyed climate-disruption hysteria of our sinister climate charlatans.)  I have received criticism from one of this blog’s perpetual nemesis … harping that loss of life was not a good measure of the gravity of these climate events. Sooo, I recently found some hard physical data about the trends in global droughts over the last thirty years … see: Watts Up With That.

Clearly, viewing the very-well sourced chart therein, not only have droughts around the world not increased over this time period, but, to my eye, they actually seem to be declining.

Is this reduction in global droughts now to be defined as a “climate disruption?”

You know the answer as well as I do.

Afterward: And here is a contribution by a reader who is also a doubter (and proud of it) ... see: News Busters Piece.
