Two Wrongs

I like Greg Gutfeld on the Fox talk show, The Five. He very often has outside-the-box humorous comments on current events. But his position on e-mail hacking has me conflicted. He believes that, since the Wikileaks revelations were stolen, they are tainted and should be ignored ... a variation on "two wrongs don't make a right" thesis. I understand this stance and almost agree with it. However, the first wrong was committed by a third party who can be punished separately. This does not mean the the raft of evil so uncovered should be ignored IMHO.

Law enforcement officials often use what, under normal circumstances, would be illegal or immoral to nab criminals ... wire taps,  scams, informers, surveillance, stings, even 'enhanced interrogation techniques'. If these procedures go too far, then oft times the criminal walks. Thus, the distinction I draw. The illegal methods used at Wikileaks should be punished. But we, the public, are not guilty of this transgression and should not feel required to ignore the revealed dirt.

Does this encourage others to try to outdo Wikileaks? Probably, but then it might just also encourage politicians to be more law-abiding ... or at least to cover their tracks better. The Clinton crime family has been acting with reckless impunity ... witness their private e-mail server. Perhaps being forced to cover their tracks better might just slow down their sleazy activities just a tad. A small benefit.

The Economy Stupid

Dana Perino, former White House Press Secretary and generally an astute political observer, commented last night on The Five on the Fox News Network that Donald Trump's strategy over the next few months should be to hammer on the poor economy ... as James Carville said back in 1994, "It's the economy stupid."

There is one problem with this strategy and that is that the Obummer administration controls the reporting of the economic results ... and, as we have repeatedly seen, they have a huge barbecue pit out behind the White House where they can cook these numbers to whatever degree of doneness that is necessary ... as they have already repeatedly exhibited with unemployment figures ... see: Culture of Corruption (follow the thread).

This administration has shamelessly shown that there is no boundary to their political ambitions ... and there is no lever of government that they will not pull to get their way. So, Dana, good idea ... but dangerous with these bozos.

October Surprise

Bob Beckel said last night on "The Five" that he believed that the Democrats had an October surprise up their sleeves to help them hold onto the Senate ... see: Breitbart Video. He suggested that it had to do with national security. Obviously this would not be the first time that the Democrats have cynically toyed with the safety of the American people in order to win elections ... remember Benghazi? How can this administration hold back on a national security issue and then cause it to surface on cue? I just hope that this possible bit of subterfuge does not misfire and cost the lives of any more Americans.

Will we be able to identify such an October surprise when it occurs? Now I know I will.

The Stepford Staff

In case you missed it, President Obama referred to himself 199 times in a 40 minute speech in Austin this past Thursday … see: CNS News Story. And this was with the requisite backdrop of nodding, laughing, applauding toadies. (How can these people allow themselves to be abased and used as human wallpaper?)

And, of course, this speech was delivered in Obama’s increasingly malicious, acerbic, mean, immature, snide, condescending, sarcastic, puerile, mocking, cynical, sophomoric, and derisive manner. (I could go on, but it certainly was not what we know as presidential.) It almost makes no difference what the subject of this talking-down was … for it was stomach turning. Even liberals such as Bob Beckel and James Carville found it offensive.

The TV show, "The Five,” posited last Friday why no one in Obama’s inner circle will disabuse him of such inflammatory (and egotistical) rhetoric. The Five group coined a new term which I liked a lot … cleverly referring to those surrounding Obama in the White House … as "the Stepford staff.”

This is an entry for the next Urban Dictionary.

Gut Reaction

I am quite taken with Greg Gutfeld and his extremely clever repartee … particularly on The Five (a news commentary show on Fox News at 5 PM ... see: The Five.) I don’t often see him on his late night show, Red Eye, but, if you are an insomniac, you can’t find better entertainment then.  His monologues are a continuous stream of bon mots, innuendos, double entendres, and clever put-downs (example, liberals brains “seem guided by bumper stickers”). And, better yet, even though he is obviously a product of the liberal left, he is a thinking conservative … a very refreshing combination.

If you don’t know of him … you soon will ...  as his popularity keeps growing. To get a taste of the range of his insightful humor please read: Gut Check. This passage might seem a trifle too too, but it is nonetheless a very pleasant piece of nostalgia. Enjoy!

Chiclets

Have you ever noticed that almost everyone on television has a gleaming set of pearly whites ... a departed friend of mine used to call them Chiclets?  (I have to put on my sunglasses to watch the smiling women ... in particular Andrea Tantaros and  Kimberly Guilfoyle ... on The Five on Fox at 5:00 PM.)  That is except sometimes, when some of the more frugal among them give that big open-mouth grin, you can see that their back molars are a darker shade of gray.  Has everyone in the nation's eye adopted this new fad and had radical bleach treatments of their teeth? 

Prediction: five years hence, some twenty million dollar government study will show that those who have slavishly followed this dental mania will be doomed to suffer terminal gingivitis.
