Goose, Goose, Gander

Olympic competitions for female athletes are on their way out. The current mania for erasing the lines between the sexes is surely going to accomplish this sorry task. Recently an "intersex" athlete from South Africa was allowed to compete and win the women's 800-meter race ... in a runaway, even though "her" testosterone levels exceeded what was previously considered acceptable ... see: Daily Caller Article. This win has, I believe, sealed the gloomy fate of the distaff side of Olympic athletics ... and possibly further.

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has ruled that high testosterone levels don't necessarily give an athlete an advantage. This idiotic CAS ruling has opened the floodgates for gender bending to effectively eliminate female athletic competitions. Years ago the Soviet Union used to field Olympic "female" athletes who clearly were male or testosterone-enhanced and who dominated many track and field competitions. Obvious push-back helped remedy this eligibility flaw. But now the world is upside down once again. It will take only a few more Olympics before the competitions become androgynous ... with shemales winning most if not all of the medals.

Actually things might get even worse if U.S. silly gender-ID norms prevail and an athlete needs only to "self-identify" as female to compete in these events. Then, of course, it will not just be the Olympics ... women's basketball, women's golf, etc. will all gradually be usurped by men posing as women. And, unless sanity returns, female athletics on all levels will be Title 9.5ed out of existence. This obviously would present a paradox for the uber-liberal feminine side of politics. Then their dimwitedness will have solidified "what is good for the goose will forever belong to the gander."

South Africa

Mark Steyn must have a large and/or competent research staff … because most of his opinion pieces are full of salient and often startling facts.  (As opposed to most New York Times news articles that are chock-a-block full of opinions.)

Steyn has just written a piece on South Africa and Nelson Mandela that recalls much of the seedier side of this country after the demise of apartheid … see: Steyn Online.  In it, Steyn treads lightly on Mandela’s legacy … but spares not the country from a barrage of unfortunate revelations (e.g., South Africa is the murder capital of the world) … many of which I once knew but have forgotten.  Please read it if you have any designs on going there.

This is really a shame for, from what I hear, South Africa is a country full of incredible scenic beauty and bountiful natural resources.  But, as a result of its current condition, it is not on my bucket list.  I just wish I could have seen and relished it (ditto Kashmir) before it went the way of most former colonial nations.

From a selfish point of view, one wonders if this country will ever regain its previous stature and benign presence.  I certainly hope so.  But I think it will take a passel more of statesmen the likes of Mandela for this to occur.

Sign of the Times

It has been revealed that the sign-language interpreter (signer) at the Nelson Mandela memorial ceremonies yesterday in Pretoria, South Africa was a total charlatan.  None of his hand gestures meant anything to anybody … it was total hand-waving gibberish … see: UK Evening Standard.  It is too tempting to resist the comment that, at this, he made more sense than many of the puffed-up speakers whom he stood beside.

In fact John Kerry has already contacted this man to be his signer for his next Congressional session explaining our interim nuclear agreement with Iran.
