News You Can Use

In talking recently to a well-versed and connected former politician, I broached two subjects of which he was unaware. I believe that this information is so important that I am going to reprise it here with links to my original blogs that more fully explain this news that, for some inexplicable reason, never made it into the main-stream media.

First, back in August, Egypt offered to cede to the Palestinian Authority (PA) 618 square miles of the Sinai Peninsula to expand the Gaza Strip. This would effectively quintuple its land area for the settlement of its refugees … and would have provided the PA the perfect opening to create its side of the famous “two state solution” to the decades' old smoldering conflict with Israel. President Mahmoud Abbas of the PA rejected this offer on the flimsiest of grounds … see: The Impossible Dream

Second, both the Clintons and the Obama administration have deep and important ties to the Muslim Brotherhood … the nursery for much of the Jihadists movement. These links have helped color our foreign policy in the Mideast over the last six years …and are, I believe, a primary reason that things are so bollixed up there. Read some of the known details here: Fleas.  I’m fairly certain that there are many other more incriminating connections.

Have you dear reader seen or read about these profound revelations highlighted in our national media? I thought not.

Afterward: Abbas once again showed his blood-stained hands ... see: Breitbart Article.

After Afterward: Now we learn that Obama's buddy, the religious head of the Muslim Brotherhood, is being sought by Interpol ... see: Atlas Shrugged.

The Impossible Dream

Why is it that the American media is so myopic in its coverage of world events? Or are they propounding an agenda that restricts what they chose to report? Did you know that Egypt recently offered the Palestinian Authority (PA) 618 square miles of the Sinai adjacent to the Gaza Strip for the settlement of Palestinian refugees. I didn’t … until I just read about it in Commentary Magazine. This offer should have made banner headlines in the New York Times but, as of yet, this newspaper and other American media outlets seem to have run out of ink for such a startling revelation (see: Commentary Magazine Article.) After all the Gaza Strip itself is only 139 square miles. This Egyptian offer would have more the quintupled the living space in Gaza.

Of course, Mahmoud Abbas of the PA rejected this offer with the feeble excuse that “[I]t’s illogical for the problem to be solved at Egypt’s expense. We won’t have it.” Of course the real reason that Abbas rejected this extremely generous offer is that the presence of these all-suffering Palestinian refugee pawns in an over-crowded Gaza Strip is what keeps fulminating the PA’s attacks on Israel … and what elicits the sympathy of the world to their plight. If a two state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian eternal conflict is ever going to be achieved, it will never be done by carving up Israel. This Egyptian proposal would have opened the door to a real two-state solution and a lasting peace in this area.

But I guess peace is not what is deep-down desired. Even for the “moderates” such as Abbas, the objective clearly is the ultimate destruction of this Jewish state. The sooner the world comes to accept this reality, the sooner it will stop dreaming the impossible dream.

Obama, This Is a Tractor

In 1953, when I was 14, I worked on a farm in Newville, PA for a full summer.  I fed and milked cows; drove tractors and plowed fields (see: In Newville, PA); picked cherries and peaches; cleaned stables and chicken coops; stacked hay bales; killed chickens; scythed roadsides; helped build a silo; etc.  I worked ten hours a day, six days a week ... and two hours on Sunday ... for ten weeks ... all for $100 in compensation.  I think this works out to about 16 cents an hour ... yet it was one of my life's most meaningful and defining experiences.

Now our Federal government, in its nanny-state wisdom, is planning to stop farm children under the age of 18 from doing many agricultural chores (see: New Labor Dept. Proposals).  We all know that our government has done a lot of stupid things, but this takes the ten-tiered wedding cake.  Now a Washington bureaucrat, who probably can't tell a heifer from a Hubbard squash, wants to tell farmers how to run their businesses and their families.  This smacks of how well a senior lecturer in law from Chicago has been able to manage a nearly $15 trillion economy.

Balderdash!!  Please kind readers do your part this Fall to help repopulate our government with grown-ups.
