Who?

What president has overridden his military generals on battle plans ... has castigated and investigated the national media ... has been suspected of colluding with the Russians ... has defied Constitutional scholars and courts with his executive orders ... his foreign policy has been confused and disruptive ... has demanded complete loyalty from those around him ... has been accused of crony capitalism ... his economic judgments have often been questioned ... has been a divider not an uniter ... yet is still adored by a good percentage of Americans as he is comfortably ensconced in a D.C. mansion.

How has he weathered all that has gone wrong ... and yet he still preserveres? A huge ego and self confidence, that's how!

Of course, we're talking about Barack Hussein Obama ...

Loyalty

We all have our loyalties ... to the world, to our country, our state, our community, to our family, our ancestors, our mate, our friends, the poor, to our school, our political party, our social organizations, our religion, the environment, to our stomach, to our libido, our ego. Mostly we have mixed localities but, there is usually one or two localities that dominate ... and this can you be judged. And you cannot depend on what people say their loyalty priorities are ... you need to watch their actions.

Think about it. What dominated Bill Clinton's and JFK's lives? Their libidos. (JFK said he would get a headache if he didn't have sex every day.) FDR, his family and his country. Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter kept their religion and the poor foremost in their minds, To Ronald Reagan, our country was the "shining city on the hill" that was his  primary motivation. Truman and Eisenhower, their country. Obama, the environment or his ego. The Bushes, their family. Nixon, the world. Hillary, herself.

What about Trump? He says, and I believe him, he is a nationalist ... which means he puts his country first. And, if you think about things, it is those presidents who put their country at the top of their loyalty pyramids who we now consider great.

Perhaps?

Loyalty

Like any human, Trump has his share of flaws. One that is beginning to disturb me is the premium he places on the loyalty of his subordinates. He said recently that he admired Eric Holder for his unflinching loyalty to President Obama ... through thick and thin ... see: Business Insider Story. Now this offhand remark might be a consequence of the hounding he has been subjected to by the slow-motion coupe attempted by the gang of Hillary and the deep state, but it still suggests that Holder's participation in and cover-up of illegal activities is OK with The Donald because of Holder's extreme loyalty.

I suppose I might be too much of a purist, but when illegal activities are tolerated and swept under the carpet, then the possible severe consequences of these evil deeds can easily escalate into a holocaust ... as we saw in Germany just eighty years ago. Not only did Holder (and Loretta Lynch) likely brake the law out of loyalty, but the miasma that arose from these misfeasances has tainted the Justice Department for years to come.

So please, President Trump, give us peons at least the notion that things will be on the up and up during your time in the White House. And give Jeff Sessions a pat on the back for trying to do the right thing as out chief law enforcer. Perhaps his recusal example might cause our next AG to also do the honorable thing when the stakes might be even higher. President Trump, if your nose is clean in this Russian matter, I believe that the American people will see through any attempt to run you out of town on a rail. They did somehow know to elect you over that much bigger danger.

Lordy

Jumpin' Jehosaphat  ... our folksy former FBI Director, James Comey, has recently signed a book deal for purportedly north of $2 million. Lordy (a word he used while testifying), that's a lot of money for just some words on paper ... see: AP Story. This payoff certainly eases the pain of his firing by President Trump. Comey is a controversial figure ... posing as a gee wiz character while clearly performing cold-blooded actions designed to topple the president, his boss's boss. He illegally leaked his recollections of his conversations with Trump in order to get a special counsel named ... for which he succeeded ... when his good buddy, Robert Mueller was tapped for the job. To me, this was a too convenient a series of events ... all likely orchestrated by the Deep State in order to protect its franchise.

So this fearless tag team is now executing a slow-motion coup for which, no matter what the outcome, will garner them at least a half a page in future history books ... kinda like the icing on a $2 million cupcake. I am curious as to how this man's actions and character will be treated by historians. Unfortunately, I doubt if I will be around to find out. But I am enough of a romantic to believe he will eventually be characterized for all his slippery chicanery ... for an example of this oiliness see: Comey, I Shrunk the Fibs.

Comey's book is scheduled to be released next Spring. Will this publication be coordinated with Mueller's grand jury indictment bombshells? I wouldn't bet against it. Also, another important question ... will its juicy passages be leaked first to the Washington Post or the New York Times? Maybe both?

My suggestion for a title would either be "Lordy" or "My Loyalty" ...

Dirty Words

The recent election of Donald Trump for U.S. President, the roiling within the European Union and the death of Fidel Castro in Cuba ... all have uncovered many misguided and twisted beliefs of newly disenfranchised progressives here and abroad. Now they are angry at feeling their power slipping away. You can see them carrying signs professing these regressive ideas and oppressive notions. Too often these placards carry messages anathema to freedom-loving people ... decrying what used to be held sacred. Now these sacraments have become dirty words to many on the left. Here are just a few of those words that have been so debased:

Patriotism ... Nationalism ... Family Values ... Capitalism ... Faith ... Truth ... Freedom ...  Rule of law ... Founding Fathers ... Democracy ... Honor ... Heroism ... Honesty ... Piety ... Loyalty ... Sacrifice
