The Two Faces of Trump

How could a vainglorious billionaire with base morals and insulting behavior get elected America's new president? This question grates on many liberal Americans who don't fathom what has happened.

Well my answer is that there must have been an overwhelming popular appeal to Trump's sometimes profane but nonetheless clear message ... pointing out the contrast ... the self-serving corruption in our media and political establishment. Basically there came a time when enough of the people could not be buffaloed any more by the insidious platitudes and empty promises of those enthroned in Washington and supported by Wall Street and Hollywood. These powerful elites were finally seen as spending America's seed corn to feed their insatiable appetites for more ... more control, more money, more power, more tribute ... with little thought of what this was doing to those beneath them.

Trump saw this putridness and promised the American people that he would remedy it. He swore to "drain the swamp." This was enough to tip over the manure spreader and get him elected. Of course we who elected him have a secret worry that he is just a still more clever charlatan than those whom we rejected.

But, so far, he seems to be a man of his word ... and the contrast with those who are fighting tooth and nail to keep their cushy catbird seats is, in a way, both humorous and frightening.

I think what he does is currently more important than what he says. Things might change in the future.

Yes, listen to what his (or Bannon's) heart is saying, not in his words and actions. but when both the Pope and Dick Cheney agree on an issue, there is some heavy voodoo going down.

Here is Trump's (Bannon's) 100 days list. It is on Breitbart so you know it is 100% true facts.

As Adele put it "Just 'cause I said it, it don't mean that I meant it,
People say crazy things,
Just 'cause I said it, don't mean that I meant it,
Just 'cause you heard it."

Is that newspeak?

But can we take Adele's words here as gospel? Is she lying in this song about lying?

Suddenly Cheney, possibly the most reviled of
Republicans, is now a hero for what he said years ago. The Pope ... well he has been on both sides of most issues ...

I like his SCOTUS pick to replace Scalia. Gorsuch seems reasonable. Hope the Dems don't play games like puerile GOP did with with Garland who was equally qualified.
