The 1% of the 1%

It is now a big fat myth that the Republicans are the party of the rich.

I read a headline yesterday that said that Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and Warren Buffet together have as much money (almost $250 billion) as the lowest 1/2 of the U.S. population! To me, this is a surprising statistic  and caused me to go to Google to check out its validity. I asked for the top 10 wealthiest Americans and here is what Forbes magazine indicates who these nabobs are:

#) Name, Wealth, Source of Wealth

1) Bill Gates, $89.0 billion, Microsoft

2) Jeff Bezos, $81.5 billion, Amazon

3) Warren Buffet, $78.0 billion, Berkshire Hathaway

4 ) Mark Zuckerberg, $71.0 billion, Facebook

5) Larry Ellisom, $59.0 billion, Oracle Software

6) Charles Koch, $48.5 billion, Koch Industries

7) David Koch, $48.5 billion, Koch Industries

8) Michael Bloomberg, $46.8 billion, Bloomberg LP

9) Larry Page, $44.6 billion, Google

10) Sergey Brin, $43.4 billion, Google

I'm not sure that these 10 are the 1% of the 1% ... but I bet it's close. Now, here's the test to determine if you will receive an unlimited EBT card and an Obamaphone: What do 8 out of 10 of these billionaires have in common?  Hint: It involves politics ... lefty politics ... moonbat lefty politics ... knee-jerk moonbat lefty politics. Except for the Koch brothers, they're all liberals ... even those older fellows, Bloomberg, Ellison and Buffet.

So you see, faithful readers, that notion that Republicans are the party of the wealthy is just more fake news.

Abandoned

There is now a recognition that boys who have been abandoned by their fathers very early in life can grow into extremely successful adults.  The examples currently being bandied about are former President, Bill Clinton; Jeff Bezos of Amazon.com; President Barack Obama; Steve Jobs of Apple Computer; and Larry Ellison of Oracle Corp.  … and I’m sure that there are probably many others.  Whatever the underlying psychology of this phenomenon turns out to be, it does seem to suggest a possible interesting future potential.

Considering the degree of fatherly desertion that is now occurring pell mell in the United States among the black and Hispanic communities … and also growing among Caucasians … it would seem to me that America should expect a barrage of hard-driving prosperous males ... maybe females too … in the not too distant future.

The Oracle of Natick

Every New Year's eve a group of our friends get together to dine and celebrate, including a number of traditional events ... one of which is that each of us forecasts what will occur in the following twelve months.   Then the next New Year's eve we re-read these predictions and award a prize to our best oracle.  This year, I think I have exhibited remarkable prescience (if I do say so myself.)  Here were my predictions last time (6.3 right out of 10 ... and there is still a month and a half to go) which, if I were alllowed to win, surely would take the  prize:

• Democrats will lose their majority in the House but not the Senate

• Chinese stock market will collapse (-20%+)

• Obama will have a nervous breakdown

• Russia will shut off natural gas to the EU

• Scott Brown is elected to the Senate

• Gitmo will not be closed down

• Two new Supreme Court justices will be appointed (after much ado)

• Iran’s nuclear facilities will be shut down (or destroyed)

• Terrorist attacks in NYC, Los Angeles and Dallas

• General Motors will go public
