Virtue Signaling

I hesitate to point this out, in the midst of our current racial hysteria, that the “noose” that was found on the only black NASCAR driver, Bubba Wallace’s garage stall at the Taladega Speedway over last weekend was nothing more than a garage door pull-down rope ... the same as was found on all the other garage stalls for the white drivers ... see: Conservative Treehouse Entry.

The unanimous hand-wringing response to this obvious overblown normality seems like nothing more than a opportunity to virtue signal by the other NASCAR drivers ... since they must all realize the actuality of this event.

In other words, to have pointed out the truth, like above, would have labeled one a “racist” by much of our manic media. So what does one do?

Understandably, just go along to get along. Kinda like the passive crowd standing around, watching the Salem witches being burned at the stake.

Afterward: Pity the poor maintenance person who put up that particular garage door pull-down ... maybe even years ago.

Obvious Truth

If it is quite rare (according to the WHO ... and contract tracing in multiple countries) that asymptomatic people can transmit COVID-19, then only symptomatic people need to self-isolate, wear masks and social distance ... see: NewsMax Story ... which was Dr. Fauci’s original position before his politics got the better of him.

This suggests that lockdowns were only valid until we learned this fact ... and asymptomatic people, whether infected or not, wearing masks and social distancing are just virtue signals.

Braver New World

- Social justice trumps justice

- End discrimination by discriminating

- Judge people by the color of their skin, not by the content of their character

- Social distance except when rioting or having sex with strangers

- It is healthy to pay healthy people not to work

- Lying is an integral and expected part of politics

- Equality of outcome is more important than equality of opportunity

- All organizations’ diversity profiles must match overall national demographics exactly

- Tribalism is primary ... above religion, nationalism and family

- Virtue signaling is much better than actual virtue

- Bending of young minds is far more important than primary education

- Owning a gun means you want to shoot up a school

Cursing the Darkness

“It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” — William Watkinson

I have long since tired of angry social justice warriors ranting about our societal sins past and present ... by getting in my face to fix things while they sit on their skinny arses basking in their virtue.

You listening Bernie?

Virtue Signaling

Our Constitution was a dike against tyranny

See: USA Today Article.

Is it only a matter of time before vegans force Walmart and other woke companies from selling meat? Or fundamental Christians forcing Amazon and other book sellers from offering the Koran? Or Hollywood liberals to blacklist Trump voters?

Obvious Truths

“We all yearn for the body we had when we were 21.” — Anon.

The best way to lose weight is to cut back on your food intake to match your activity level. The second greatest benefit of dieting is the virtue signaling it affords you.

The penultimate down-side to dieting is how long delayed your actual gratification is. And the worst part is those extra pounds you put on after you have surrendered to your cravings once again.

Virtue Signaling

Virtue signaling often creates suspicions of insincerity ... such as a Flag Day card from Colin Kaepernick, a de-nuke pledge from Kim Jong un or a vow of poverty from Hillary Clinton.

Urban Neglect

Is it lazy liberalism or is it vane virtue signaling? But tent cities and a creeping urban neglect is spreading up the West Coast of America ... from Los Angeles to San Francisco and now to Seattle.

Here these city leaders have decided to ignore urban decay, a public health crisis and violent protests to signal their naive indulgence of the seedy needy.  Their forgivness of those who would bring us down is rife. And these urban squatters are not just allowed ... they are encouraged.

What cognitive disease infects the brains of these city fathers and mothers? In many ways those who are running these cities are as squalid and duty-shirking as those who are living on their streets and pooping in their gutters.

Obvious Truth #33

Nations can and often do indulge in naive virtue signaling ... but there is always an eventual  price to be paid ... usually by others than the virtue signalers. -- Anon.

Pointy Heads

Zippy

As we often do, my wife and I were observing the loopy state of the world this morning and we stumbled upon anther paradox which needs to be dissected. There are two major motivators in society -- logic and emotion. The left tends to behave more out of emotion and the right, leaning on logic. Now our university elites, one would assume, are, or should be, grounded in logical thought growing out of their study of the great thinkers of history. Therefore, again one would assume, these  pedagogues would resist the soppy reasoning associated with progressive activism (while privilege, safe spaces, virtue signaling, etc.).

But no! The right-reasoning process seems mostly dead on our college campuses ... and emotion rules our ivory towers. Cold, hard logic is too often eschewed and is replaced by slogans and mindless chants. Why this has occurred is beyond the understanding of this observer ... and, apparently, also is not up for discussion in the classrooms of many of our pointy-headed professors.

Afterthought:Perhaps our prejudice against the state of higher education comes from the growth of hyphenized "studies"courses relative to the classics. This lopsided expansion of "soft" vs. tradotional studies is, in our opinion, rotting out o our educational foundation ... which should concern everyone.

Neologisms

For some reason millennials are wont to make up two-word neologisms for previously common  concepts. Why our traditional words for these ideas are no longer operable is strange ...  perhaps our "snowflakes" have a pressing need to reinvent things? Here are a few of their new ways of expressing things ... along with the traditional words:

virtue signaling = sanctimonious

cultural appropriation = mimicry

safe space = sanctuary

fat (etc.) shaming = ridicule

white privilege = snobbery

false flag = imposter ... or a misdirection

gender fluid = asexual

cultural incompetence = savagery

Trigger warning = heads-up

Toxic masculinity = machismo

Virtue Signaling

Image result for saint

In order to keep you, dear readers, up to date on the latest lingo, this blog's lesson today is on "virtue signaling." This term relates to the melodramatic "holier than thou" mulings of the  multitude of protesters of President Trump's temporary immigration ban from seven terrorist-infested countries. Celebrities and politicians are elbowing each other out the way from in front of the nearest microphones to profess their virtue ... how this Trump action is discriminating against the Muslim religion ... which it clearly isn't. It is merely an attempt to tighten up the vetting processes in these dangerous countries to try to reduce the risk of allowing sleeper terrorists into our country.

Hillary Clinton quickly chimed in with, "That's not who we are." Chuck "Tiny Tears" Schumer publicly turned on the waterworks to demonstrate the extent of his virtue. Our acting Attorney General, Sally Yates, threw herself on her sword over this moral travesty by refusing to defend it at the DOJ ... got fired by Trump ... and became the instant hero of the legions of Soros-backed moonbats. Even our ex-president could not wait two weeks before trying to shame his replacement by issuing his own shining virtue signal from a sunny Caribbean beach.

Yes, this executive order was not communicated well or implemented smoothly ... some rookie mistakes ... but it was legal, caused relatively minor dislocation and is supported by the majority of Americans ... those of us who would rather be safe than sorry.
