MAGA

We have all read and seen the hostile reactions being exhibited by Trump haters. The Covington boys experience first-hand the kind of vitriol exhibited by the Black Israelites and a Native American drummer when they wore their MAGA hats on a field trip to Washington, DC. Over and over again our media reports of  physical attacks on Trump aides or supporters.  The person who attacked Kellyanne Conway at her birthday dinner in Maryland last year was just acquited of assault. (No, it wasn’t her husband.)

As a consequence, Trump supporters have been driven underground and are afraid of being discovered as Trumpers lest they lose their jobs, their friends or even family members. I have been fortunate in that few of these punishments have been visited on me. (A few people have “defriended” me on this blog.) However, maybe it is because I am too old for people to take me seriously.

One last thing, I have found a way of exhibiting my support for Trump when I am out in public. My daughter gave me one of those pink knitted hats for Christmas. I have polka-dotted it with Make America Great Again buttons ... so, when I wear this “pussy” hat, moonbats are reluctant to attack me because they seem confused as to my real allegiance.

Shocking Prediction

President Trump is currently so despised by about 50% of the American public that, if this consensus suddenly realizes that he has indeed "made our country great again" (not a guarantee, but certainly possible), public opinion will swing from loathing to adoration.

I know, I know that you anti-Trumpers find this impossible to comprehend, but the study of cognitive dissonance (which you are now wallowing in) predicts that if and when positive thoughts replace negative passion, they are equally strong or stronger. So kind readers, please do not be shocked when, if Trump can deliver on his promises, his much-mocked visage someday appears on the twenty dollar bill!

Gasp!

Pop-Culture Presidency

Donald Trump has taken up residence inside my head ... and he is a messy tenant ... leaving dirty socks and his pajamas on the floor and cookie crumbs in the bed, And apparently he has also gotten to President Obummer, as he has repeatedly said that Trump won't replace him in the White House because he is just a "reality show host" ... see: ABC News Story. This is rather ironic coming from a man who has repeatedly used pop-culture media himself to burnish his hip image ... remember "Between the Palms?"

Actually, The Donald and our current selfie-stick president are two sides of the same coin. They both are glittering flotsam in the roiled stream of mindless entertainment that our pop-media culture has created. They both have forsaken what once was the gravitas associated with the presidency for the allure of social-media fluffery. This is why Trump can't be bothered to say exactly how he is going to "make America great again." And Obummer's strategy for defeating ISIS seems constructed out of "hope and change" Twitter posts. This is what their publics apparently want.

There is a karmic parallel between Obummer's number one priority, his golf game ... and The Donald's current investment obsession, golf courses.

Elevator Message

Back when I was seeking venture capital, I was told to condense my pitch into what could be sold in a short crowded elevator ride. Hillary Clinton was asked on "Morning Joe" yesterday by Mika Brzezinski to give the essence of what she would do if elected president. In an around-the-barn rambling she offered a disjointed series of platitudes that did not sell me ... or, I doubt, very many in her TV audience ... see if you can figure out what her core message is: Powerline Blog Entry. The elevator she would have to have been on would have been empty and in the Empire State Building.

As a contrast, Donald Trump obviously knows how to craft a terse message ..."Make America Great Again."

(Of course, if Hillary or Bernie Sanders were totally candid, they might just say, "Tax and spend.")
