New Newspeak

This blogger, along with many other commentators, have noticed how we have slipped into a "1984" type attempt by our Orwellian government to control our thoughts and lives ... in particular its increasing onerous conscription of permissible language. (Have you heard anyone from the Obama administration use the term "radical Islam" or use ISIS instead of ISIL?)

Now we are treated to what we are in for if Queen Hillary becomes the next POTUS. Just yesterday her posse released a list of words that are verboten for reporters to use in her possible upcoming campaign ... see: Daily Caller Story. Whereas, under Obama, such dog-whistle words were racist, now they are sexist. So you have been warned!

Rather than just list these words, I will herein use them in defiance of these Clinton conscriptions. If anyone sees me being gagged and put in a car trunk by James Carville, you will see first-hand the results of my defiance. (Hillary's taboo words are in italics in the following.)

Hillary Clinton certainly has been secretive about her stint at the State Department. By setting up her own e-mail server she clearly felt entitled to circumvent the rules by which the rest of the world lives. Her disingenuous and calculating U.N. press-conference explanation of this scandal has been very polarizing in the media ... with even many liberal talking heads saying that she was insincere and clearly over confident. Ever since she glommed onto Bill Clinton in Yale law school, she has been extremely ambitious for them both ... but more and more she represents the past and has grown increasingly out of touch with middle America. And it is so blatantly obvious that she will do anything to win.

Groupthink

Liberal Bill Maher finally addressed the students at that liberal bastion, UCal Berkeley, on Saturday and told students to avoid “groupthink” (that famous and insightful term from George Orwell’s book, “1984”) … be an individual, a free thinker. He ironically also cajoled them to be soldiers in the fight against climate change. “I hope all of you here today consider the environment to be paramount among the many challenges we face.” See: Breitbart Article.

Need I point out the obvious to you dear reader? The religion of climate change is one of the most blatant examples today of "groupthink." Bill Maher might just as well have been speaking “newspeak,” warning of “thoughtcrimes” to the “Ministry of Truth” members at “Airstrip One” (other insightful terms from “1984”). Maher, much as he likes to view himself, clearly is no hammer thrower.

Red Flags

Yesterday, I blogged about how the Obama administration was trying to control the language describing Muslim jihadism (see: Wouldn't It Be Nice).  Now our President, in a graduation speech at Annapolis, has tried to remove the term “war on terror” from our political vernacular (see: Reuters Article).  I am quite certain that many news outlets will now dutifully fall in line with his suggestion.

Once again we see despotic leaders trying to control the body politic by dictating the language that is deemed acceptable to them.  President Obama’s Naval Academy speech is yet another attempt at thought control … and is straight out of George Orwell.  This should be another gigantic red flag to us all.  Orwell warned us when he said:
Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.

and

The purpose of Newspeak was not only to provide a medium of expression for the world-view and mental habits proper to the devotees of IngSoc, but to make all other modes of thought impossible. Its vocabulary was so constructed as to give exact and often very subtle expression to every meaning that a Party member could properly wish to express, while excluding all other meaning and also the possibility of arriving at them by indirect methods. This was done partly by the invention of new words, but chiefly by eliminating undesirable words and stripping such words as remained of unorthodox meanings, and so far as possible of all secondary meaning whatever.

For more and better expressed thoughts on this same subject see: The American Thinker Piece.

George Orwell was right on the money in his novel “1984,” but his timing was off by about 30 years

Womb to Tomb

In his recent State of the Union message, President Obama has proposed a pedagogical initiative for preschoolers … a Super Head Start Program if you will.  (See: Breitbart Article).  This mandatory (babysitting?) program would involve the federal government matching state funds in order to send children age four and up to preschool … on the governments’ dime … and with Big Brother's oversight and controls.  Here is the meaningful quote from the above article:
Qualifications for the funding include: teachers would have to hold college degrees in certain categories related to education, restrictions on class size, and a government-approved curriculum.
The catch-term for intrusive government used to be called “cradle to grave.”  Now, since our Solons have determined that they have a lot to say about whether a baby gets born, it really is now “womb to tomb.”  I don’t know about you but I am really beginning to think George Orwell was a major prophet when he wrote his books, Animal Farm and 1984.  I still recall, in my callow youth, a certain dismay at seeing how Russia and China were taking over the rearing of small children at the height of these countries' ideological frenzies … in order to indoctrinate them into the ways of the State.  Now its our turn.

I can’t leave this blog post without repeating one last quote from Our Dear Leader in this same speech to Congress: “Let me repeat – nothing I’m proposing tonight should increase our deficit by a single dime.”

Joesph Goebbels was right: “If you tell a lie often enough, it becomes the truth.”
