Worrywarts

 

An astronomer was speaking at a women’s club luncheon. One thing he said was that in two billion years the sun would become a red giant star and consume most planets, including our Earth.

After his talk, one woman approached him with this dialog:

Woman: “Did you say that we were going to burn up in two million or two billion years?”

Astronomer: “I said two billion years.”

Woman: “Oh, thank goodness!”

We humans want to worry about something … anything. We must need to worry! If we don’t have something obvious to worry about … Ebola … cholesterol … Communism … murder hornets … we invent it.

Climate change!

And there are those charlatans who exploit our collective fears for personal gain:
