The New Pied Piper

Tesla’s Elon Musk is a pretty smart dude. He, therefore, must realize that electric vehicles and airplanes will never totally supplant internal combustion ones. Yet, as the high priest of this EV religion, he has become extremely wealthy and worshiped ... not something easily forsaken.

Yet, his acolytes are remaking our world to his vision ... a dislocation that will create enormous pain when it needs to be reversed ... say when the required battery technology breakthroughs fail to occur. This dawning may take another five years. But, rest assured, it will happen. For instance, what will GM do when it only makes EVs and the public wakes up and realizes that such expensive toys are not all that they need to be?

Is Musk anther Pied Piper leading us naive children astray? This open-eyed blogger thinks so ...

Afterward: Besides, our plant life needs the CO2 that burning hydrocarbons produces.

A few things:
o Saying that battery breakthroughs will inevitably fail to occur, and then assuring us that failure is inevitable is without evidence. You are a nattering nabob of negativism. The evolution of solar panels, home large-scale batteries, vehicle batteries, and efficient motors is marching forward.
o EVs will let us still consume fossil fuels in power plants where the pollutants are trapped and handled rather than having every car and truck with heavy add-ons try to capture pollutants in the road.
o Plantlife does need CO2 but only so much before it goes negative, hardening leaves instead of promoting growth. There is an optimal CO2 concentration for plant growth.

See my next blog to rebut your first point. And so far as plants doing well with more CO2, for 60 million years during the Carbonferrous period of our early Earth, plants did just fine with CO2 levels ten times higher than they are now
