At least 6.5 million Americans with valid Social Security numbers are at least 112 years old ... see: CNS News Story. How many millions more are equally suspicious? This discovery is as a result of a recent internal Social Security Administration audit. This can mean only three things: 1) people have long since died yet are still receiving Social Security checks, 2) Social Security numbers have been stolen or created by others (I bet you know whom) in order to gain employment (and become eligible to vote), or 3) the fountain of youth has finally been discovered by Ponce de Leon. The first two of these options are downright fraudulent.
On which option(s) are you placing your bet(s)?

Or a fourth thing: There are a lot of dead/missing people that never contributed much, collected anything or had their SSN cancelled. Much like the unclaimed monies reports, some things are just in limbo.

Let's say your right ... the Social Security Administration can lose track of millions of card holders and we are to see this as proof that our government is the solution to all our problems?
Well, "lose track" is a bit tough on SSA. I do not get that, other than tax returns, they have ping/response mechanism to determine continued existence of an assignee (fraudulent or otherwise.) That is, they are not intrusive enough to know.
