We Were Warned

When our vote-seeking Democrat politicians were pushing for a $15 per hour minimum wage, economists warned that this would speed up the elimination of entry-level jobs ... say in fast-food restaurants ... or burger-flippers as the are derisively known. Now we see that this is beginning to happen. If the CEO of Carl's Jr., Andy Puzder, has his way. all employees at his burger joints will disappear ... to be replaced by automated kiosks and robots ... see: Business Insider Interview.

Yes, these out-of-work millennials might still vote Democrat to keep getting their unemployment benefits and welfare, but who is going to pay for these benefits? You see, robots and kiosks don't pay taxes.

When will we ever learn?

Bomb Throwers

Twitter has turned the United States (and I expect much of the rest of the world) into a bunch of illiterate bomb throwers and insipid twits (remember #bringbackourgirls?) Anxious to get their tiniest thoughts out to their adoring public, users of this instant messaging service post comments on many news events without stopping to consider how their 140 characters of top-of-the-head diatribe or dribble will be viewed. In business we used to refer to this as "ready, fire, aim." As a consequence, clarifications or retractions are often required ... which do nothing but muddy the waters further.

I suspect that Ted Cruz, Hillary Clinton (or her Twitter surrogates) and many other presidential aspirants think that they are being hip to tweet out their bon mots at the drop of a news cycle ... to their adoring throngs of millennials and X-ers ... but, to me, using this technology too often appears non-presidential and demeaning. Reading tweets second-hand (I refuse to subscribe) is all too often a cringe-worthy experience. I would personally prefer that the eventual leader of the free world be a little more circumspect in his/her pronouncements.

Idiot glitterati can make asses out of themselves using this medium, but, please ... let's keep our important political leaders free from such pop-star pap.

Independence Day

I know, I know that these on-the-street interviews showing how historically stupid millennials and gen X-ears are ... are getting to be old hat. Nevertheless here is another instance in San Diego of just how clueless some of these slope-heads are ... see: Infowars Video.

There might have been a few right answers edited out of this clip, but the fact that an Italian tourist knew more about the founding of the United States than did the vast majority of our natives does indicate that the huge sums of money we are spending to educate our children is mostly going down a rat hole. I think the interviewer hit the nail on the head when he told one dolt that, because of her lack of patriotic knowledge, she wasn't allowed to celebrate Independence Day!

Wake up America!

Obama Fatigue

I am in a bit of a funk over the Obama administration's two recent victories ... obtaining fast track trade authority from the Senate (the precursor to greater power for it to pursue its world government agenda) and its SCOTUS victory permitting Obamacare subsidies for states not providing health-care exchanges. This fatigue is exacerbated by the vindictive war on our South by this administration and the national media.

President Obama obviously has a great many scalps hanging from his belt ... particularly considering his obvious incompetence and indifference to popular opinion. He has lived a bit of a charmed life ... hopping from ice floe to ice floe ahead of the pursuing racist hounds (yes, Sheldon, this is sarcasm.)

To add to my ennui, the Supreme Court has just legalized same-sex marriage. Once again I am on the wrong side of history. I guess the millennials (that group who can't name our vice president) now totally rule.
