Sweet Irony

The Democrats have been waging an obvious strategy of throwing open our border to pack this country with legal and illegal immigrants with the expectation that these appreciative newcomers would counter a growing national conservative trend toward Republicans.

A great many of these immigrants, particularly in the southwest and far west US, are Hispanic ... and, as Diane Feinstein is learning, they may not maintain a loyalty to those who opened the doors to them. Senator Feinstein wanted to run for reelection in California and has just been shocked to lose her party's backing to ... drum roll please ... a Latino. What's that old chestnut, "hoisted on her own petard."

Twenty or thirty years from now, if current trends persist, there will likely not be a single elected politician in America's southwest and far west who is not of Hispanic origin. And to increase the treacle tone of this irony, since this ethnic group is naturally conservative, they may even identify then as Republicans.

Anyone, who doesn't find lip-smacking justice in how this Democrat voter-packing strategy is beginning to backfire, is not paying attention.

Three-Card Monte

President Obama has pulled another fast one ... saying he was signing an executive order recently in Las Vegas allowing up to five million illegal immigrants to avoid deportation ... amnesty if you will ... when he really didn't. Of course this would not have be the first time that he lied to the American people. In fact, his telling the truth would be a bigger news story than his pathological mendacity. If you said that you "changed the law" by signing an executive order, you would think that you would sign an executive order ... not just an ersatz memorandum and a proclamation to make it look like you are doing what you claimed. Can we ever rely on this man not to perform another three-card monte "now you see it now you don't" switcheroo ... see: WND Story.

So Obama didn't sign an executive order, he just grifted the American people and the Republican Party with another sham scam. He actually is relying on his head on Homeland Security to play along with this bunko game as though he had done what he said. Jeh Johnson actually issued a memorandum propounding "prosecutorial discretion" without official presidential authorization which supposedly implements the amnesty that Obama had promised. This way, if Obama is found to have exceeded his executive authority, he can turn over the card and show that it is not the ace. "Ha, ha, fooled ya,!" In other words this executive amnesty is even more unconstitutional than at first blush. Obama has his flunky, Johnson, deflect any future blame ... Johnson is kind of like the shill in the three-card monte crowd.

Of course one result of this misdirection is that possibly millions more Latinos will now make their way into the United States hoping to slip in under this new sham order. Is it possible to have a sleazier, more slippery, less patriotic lowlife as our president? I hope I never see another one so vile, base and corrupt.

Afterward: Here is a follow-up story with more details and verifying the original charge: WND Article.

Alligator Alley

President Obama spoke to his Latino base yesterday in El Paso, Texas and mocked the Republicans for asking for greater border security before tackling immigration reform.  In what has become a typical Obama rhetorical twist he chided his opponents by saying, "Maybe they'll need a moat. Maybe they'll want alligators in the moat [to stop illegal immigration]."  Now, I could be wrong (as I have occasionally been in the past), but being snide does not come across as being presidential.  Jibing your opponents may be a self-satisfying strategy when you are way ahead on the scoreboard.  But, if Obama wants to work with these same people sometime to get reasonable immigration reform accomplished, I doubt that such banal tactics will work when the game is tied.
