One characteristic that stands out for Donald Trump is his steel will … elsewise he never could have survived and accomplished as much as he did under the Deep State onslaught.
Of course it is this steel will that causes his detractors to roll out the easy Nazi and Mussolini comparisons. But the reason these analogies are strained is that his motivations are clearly patriotic whereas the Biden’s anti-MAGA diatribes are not.
So, in a world of malign steel-willed actors … Xi, Putin, the Ayatollah Khamenei, Kim Jong un … it’s comforting to think that we might again have a benign counterbalance.
