Before beginning my bloveating, I hope we can stipulate that both American political parties want world peace ... and, perhaps more importantly, gaining and keeping their party in power. However, setting the stage for the 2020 presidential election, to me, the following seems to be what the donkeys and elephants are focused on:
Democrats: more abortions (“women’s reproductive health”), tax increases, more welfare spending, reparations, diversity and inclusion, more regulation, a “living Constitution,” illegal immigrant voting, open borders, free trade, delay in Iran’s nuclearization, socialism, sanctuary cities, defanged military, suppress “hate speech,” globalism, drastic cures to climate change, pack the Supreme Court, guaranteed national income, lower voting age to 16, infanticide, multiple genders, weakened Israel, eliminate Electoral College, border walls are immoral, Russia is pure evil, anti-guns
Republicans: higher economic growth, free speech, expansion of the middle class, less regulation, strict interpretation of Constitution original intent, secure borders (including a wall), resurgent domestic manufacturing, fair trade, denuclearizing of North Korea and Iran, higher wage growth, capitalism, rebuild U.S. military, nationalism, dismiss global warming hysteria, only living U.S. citizens voting, Spaceforce, strong Israel, allies paying for U.S. military protection, two genders, Russia could be helpful, pro 2nd Amendment
Reading back over these party positions, I am struck by how negative the Democrats stances are and how positive are the Republicans’. When campaigning, pluses are generally better than minuses.

I would remind you that there are more registered independents that either Republicans or Democrats. What Independents are for:
Treating our allies with respect and diplomacy, more birth control and less abortions, enforcement of existing laws, fiscal responsibility, paths to citizenship for productive immigrants, fewer whales being killed by plastic in the ocean, a leader who doesn't embarrass us, fewer gun related deaths, healthcare for all, free markets, progressive taxation, live and let live, help for the needy.
Ok ... will we have an independent running in 2020? No. So you will have to chose between the two above lists ...
The left-of-center USA political campaign has a wide aperture which gives it great depth of field but a focus that often lets in too much light, and makes its images washed out.
The left is focused on opportunies for all citizens which include education, healthcare, homes, and jobs for all citizens; fair taxes that distribute our common wealth to create and maintain our infrastructure and protect us from foreign adversaries; wind down the military-industrial complex and allocate its monies and people to domestic projects. Avoid foreign entanglements and endless wars; we are not duty-bound to police the world. Yet sending troops and goods to central america and Venezuela for humanitarian relief could knock down a lot of the reasons people from there are seeking refuge. Bring troops and equipment back from Arab deserts to build the wall on our Southern border. Engage in practical immigration just as it is engraved on the statue of liberty. We are responsible for keeping at least our corner of the planet clean and fresh. Patriotic citizens IMHO.

The right is focused on pure capitalism, the art of the deal, and every man for himself. Its zealots say Trump, a man of unquestioned immorality by every measure, is the second coming of Christ, that we were founded by white Christian men, and don't you forget it. Strict constitutionalists. Walls are good. Guns are good; big military is good; biggest military is thereby best; we are destined to rule the world. "A well regulated militia" does not mean that you have to be trained, licensed, or qualified by a government-monitored militia. We were, are, and will always be exceptional. And Russia could be helpful(?).
Use midrange aperture and moderate focus to get a clear crisp picture.
Gosh! Both parties have firmed up their entire platforms 600 days before the election. And now we cannot have an independent... How is 2024 shaping up?
I understand why you vote left of center. You have stated what you want and not what is being proposed by all the prog hopefuls. Kind of like Al Capp’s Schmoo that tasted like whatever you were hungry for.
I will choose ANYONE but Trump. Your Focus lists are just a cobbled, blurred summary of things you like and things you hate. looking through a lens of bias and self-interest, you see a Shining City on the Hill. I see a Potemkin Village.
Trump blames McCain for not sending a "thank you" note after the funeral. He is clearly unraveling.

He lied about approving the funeral. Congress did that. His anti-McCain and obsession with Kellyann's husband shows him to be a nutjob, how can you keep defending this appalling and base behavior?
