The Daily Caller reports that “green” buildings in
Washington, DC use more energy per unit of size than non-green ones … see: Daily Caller Story. (These energy-per-unit measures are EUIs – the high the number the less energy efficient a building is). Here is the pertinent quote therein:
Take the [United States] Green Building Council’s Washington headquarters. Replete with the group’s top green-energy accolade, the platinum LEED certification, the USGBC’s main base comes in at 236 EUI. The average EUI for uncertified buildings in the capital? Just 199.Are we surprised? Perhaps the "green" in the green energy movement just means it costs more money?
