Long ago there was a major scandal surrounding “The 64 Thousand Dollar Question” where chosen celebs were given the answers in advance. Pilgram, you must by now know that your friendly blogger is a conspiracy nut. So when Jeopardy has had a rare run of four double digit winners, I begin imagining why this might … I repeat, might … be so.
Here are the possible misfeasance and malfeasance options:
- Answer constructors know a lot about the strengths and weaknesses of the champ and other contestants … so, the answer categories could be directed toward the strengths of the returning champion. (Misfeasance)
- The returning champion could be given a fraction of a second advantage on the buzzer. (Malfeasance)
- The answers could be changed behind the Daily Double question between hard and easy … all depending on who is supposed to ask the question … the champion or the challenger. (Malfeasance)
- Preferred contestants could be prefed answers or answer categories. (Malfeasance)
Repeat … I am not accusing this game show of these irregularities, but it could easily happen. Ratings are everything.
Perhaps it is I who has the criminal mind?

I heard that contestants who were intended to win got rolls of toilet paper shipped to their house with a word or phrase on each square. Not the question, just an answer.
Conspiracy theories have to be plausible … or are you just giving me the needle?
