Horsing Around

Burger King has egg on its face.  One of its meat suppliers in England and Ireland has been found to have included horse meat in its hamburger mix … see: USA Today Story.   I strongly suspect that this is just the tip of the iceberg lettuce in the fast food industry … with more revelations to come.  There is, after all, intense pressure to keep costs down … and what better way …?

How many readers remember that, in the 1960’s, McDonald's was accused of using kangaroo meat in its hamburgers?  I haven’t been able to validate this on Google, but it seems a very clear memory to me.  This is one of the problems with our information age ….  vast rivers of newer revelations swamp the older data to the point that it virtually disappears.  Can anyone verify this 50-year-old kangaroo-meat memory of mine?

It wasn't 50 years, more like twenty five. Most of the online mentions say it is urban legend, but I distinctly remember the linkage with Micky Dees at the time. You need to go back through the non-digital news stacks to find it I guess.
