Maybe this is a foolish errand ... but nonetheless allow me to try to summarize President Trump’s foreign policy ... in a nutshell.

Keep ‘em guessing. Get close to your enemies and call out your friends when appropriate ... and speak harshly ... at least initially ... and then use a big stick, when required, to show you are not spineless. But avoid war and nation-building at all costs. Practice pragmatism and, most importantly, always put American interests first.

How screwed up must America have been in 2016 that we elected a man like Donald Trump to get us out of the hole we were in? And it was the right decision because he is fixing things despite ferocious resistance from many of those folks who put is in our quandary in the first place. Our country is living through this violent clash of two distinct ideologies ... best described as globalism and nationalism ... analogous to socialism versus capitalism. In the past, Trump's flag, nationalism (and capitalism), has always carried us all to a better life. Will it once again?

CNBC has done a good job summarizing all the winners and losers in the GOP tax package which is expected to be enacted on Tuesday. Even though "carried interest" has not been eliminated, its holding period has been increased from one to three years to qualify -- small victory.

Anyhow, spend the halftime of the NFL game you are not going to watch today studying this information packed chart ... CNBC Synopsis. I think the stock market is telling us that this will not just be good for US companies ... but for our economy in general. It certainly will have consequences for the 2018 midterm elections ... possibly even more so than sexual harassment charges.
