Telephone

A reader has suggested that the following is fodder for this blog ... see: Breitbart Story. And I agree.  This link basically debunks the notion that 97% of scientists concur that global warming (aka, climate change) is real, man-made and dangerous ... a claim oft repeated by our fearless leader, President Obama. Reading through this explanation reminds me a the parlor game "Telephone." wherein a story is whispered from person to person around the room until it resembles nothing like its original version ... see: Chinese Whispers. In this case the original test started out as two generic truisms (CO2 is a greenhouse gas and human activity has warmed up the Earth to some unspecified amount) and was transmogrified into the above now oft-repeated hokum.

The original Australian "researcher" (John Cook's) claim that 12,000 scientific papers were perused and that 97% of their authors agreed with this predetermined conclusion ... is also extremely suspect. Suppose that it would take an hour to read carefully and so categorize each paper ... and that eight such papers could be reviewed per day. It would take this bloke, Cook, and his co-conspirators, 1500 man-days ... or almost 6 man-years of 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, inspections to justify their conclusion. I sincerely doubt that such a monumental effort was so devoted.

You would think that the people who write the president's Teleprompter talks and his Tweets would first check their sources ...
