Caveat Emptor

I have requested answers from two AI applications … ChatGPT HERE and Google Bard HERE … and have concluded that these bots are more interested in answering questions than they are in getting it right. However, users are deceived for these apps sometimes respond with brilliant answers … like when I asked Google Bard to explain the derivation of Euler’s formula (lifted verbatim from a math website?)

Also, John Hinderaker of the Powerline blog has discovered two totally bogus responses from ChatGPT … one about who was the youngest governor of North Dakota … and the other, citing non-existent cases in a writ opposing a motion to dismiss in a New York court. Please read the Powerline Post for the details. It should give you fair warning about the limitations and possible dangers of this new “miracle.”

Caveat Emptor …

Afterward: I tried a Tineye search for a match on the “youngest” ND governor’s portrait … and got back nothing.
