The first sales transactions were by barter ... a buffalo skin for three stone axes. Then, precious-metal specie was used as an intermediary. Next paper money was invented as an a representation of this value to make commerce much easier and fairer. Then “good faith and credit” of central governments replaced precious metal backing.
With the advent of electronics came on-line bank accounts, debit cards and credit cards ... additional abstractions of hard currencies ... but still permitting the conversion into paper currency. Now, comes the ultimate ephemera, crypto currencies such a Bitcoin, an ultimate abstraction ... just an assumed bunch of electrons running around a computer.
So, where are we? We have abstracted sales transactions to the point where, if we have a prolonged power failure ... or worse yet, a nuclear electromagnetic pulse that knocks out all electronics ... resulting in all banking and commerce coming to a dead stop! Except, of course for specie, paper money and barter.

Steve Hayward has discovered an interesting fact— our renewable energy sources are NOT now economically competitive with natural-gas power plants. According to a study he points to, solar panels will only be at parity at the end of this decade ... and wind farms, only 50% to the way there by this same date. This is despite the fact that we have been promised that we have already achieved this goal. See: Powerline blog post.
Then, Steve and John Hinderaker point out all the costs that are NOT included in these calculations: additional transmission lines required, scrapping costs after these sources’ relatively short useful lives ... and the baseline energy plants required to back up these two renewables when they are not producing.
To this I would like to add ... how much cheaper natural gas would be in New England if Liz Warren would permit a pipeline to be built here ... and the much lower crop and forestry yields we will get when CO2 is reduced back to starvation levels for all our plant life.

Instead, their bureaucratic “we know best” attitude stubbornly believes that they can fundamentally transform our country into a socialistic utopia by confiscating as much money as possible in order to mete it out as AOC and Bernie Sanders know best ... a dead-head and a red-head.
Yes, capitalism makes mistakes ... creative destruction ... but they are small mistakes relatively speaking. In contrast, when Biden-imagined authoritarian governments make mistakes ... which they always do ... they are lulus. And we can see them happening already just in the first 100 days of our new presidency ... open borders, pandemic panic mongering, Constitutional relativism, the Green New Deal, the joyful killing of our energy independence, bringing back of our love-affair with Iran, fire-hose spending coupled with huge tax increases, etc.
This Biden helicopter government can’t make America great again ... it can’t even build it back better.
