Tom Terrific

The quarterback of the New England Patriots, Tom Brady, is most likely at his life's pinnacle ... having won his fifth Super Bowl ... a record. And he also won this game in a spectacular manner ... scoring 25 points (with 2 two-point conversions) in the last half to tie the game and then scoring the winning touchdown in overtime. He was also awarded this game's Most Valuable Player.  This scenario was bigger than what any Hollywood scriptwriter could have imagined ... and had TV viewers, even many liberals, in awe.

No wonder Brady has earner the moniker "Tom Terrific" ... an outstanding 39-year-old quarterback married to a gorgeous supermodel with three wonderful children and yet still exhibiting appealing humility ... a rarity in the NFL. However, there is still a downside to such eclat ... and this is that  it is hard to imagine that things could get any better for Sir Brady. In a palpable sense, everything else in his life will likely be downhill from this existential summit. So, with all this accomplishment and adoration, comes the sadness that, alas, the best is likely not yet to come.

Afterword: Out driving today and listening to NPR I was saddened to hear a number of Bostonians who were rooting against the Patriots only because of the political persuasions of Brady and Coach Belichick. Of course, I eschewed Lady Gaga's half-time show because of her lefty rants ... hypocrite that I am.

Yawn

It took me three weeks finally to break my boycott of the NFL ... but I eventually watched a New England Patriot game. This past Sunday I saw its game with the Jets ... which, the Pats, of course, won. But you know what my real reaction to what used to be one of my passions?  YAWN!

It is amazing how a long respite from football makes one realize that the sun doesn't rise and set over Tom Brady.

Free Pass

For you attentive readers, you know that I have been boycotting watching NFL football games because of Roger Goodell's not disciplining those players either sitting or "taking a knee" during the playing of our National Anthem. We are about halfway through the season and I have yet to relent on this pledge ... as have also legions of other principled football fans ... as viewership has been seriously diminished ... see: CBS Local News Story.

Now however both Bill Belichick and Tom Brady of the New England Patriots have publicly endorsed Donald Trump for president. Consequentially, this development has given me a free pass once again to watch Patriot games ... but still none of the other NFL games. So this Sunday I will watch Brady throw a deflated football to Gronk as he humbles the Seattle Seahawks and their gaggle of kneelers. I might even have a beer and some pretzels ...

Taking a Knee

Keeping to my pledge, I have yet to watch a single NFL game ... either on Sunday, Monday night or Thursday night ... and, you know what? ... I am beginning to know how to get along without this machismo palliative. I've gone cold turkey with my quixotic protest. Yes, I do Google the results of the Patriots' game after the fact ... but I no longer hang on Brady's passing performance (sorry Tom) or Gronk's receptions! And I have invested enough negative emotion so that I now intend to keep this up until Roger Goodell himself takes a knee and comes down hard on these anthem protesters. These highly-paid jocklets  need to realize from whence their pay checks come and learn that any gripes they have need to be settled in a more patriotic way.

If these crybabies insist on pissing on my flag, I, along with millions of other Americans, will piss on their hyper-inflated egos feed by their hyper-inflated pay checks. And, if they don't like our protests, then I suggest they volunteer for military service for a few years to understand what this meta-game is all about. The risk in this superior bowl involves their lives ... not just their ACLs.

Allah Provides

In a shocking example of nobilis oblige, Gisele Bundchen, the world's top supermodel and wife of football star Tom Brady, has used a full-body and face burqa to enter and leave France unrecognized in order to get a little nip and tuck on her chi-chi persona. And France is not happy about this deception ... see: New York Post Page Six Story ... since such full-body and face cover-ups are now illegal in France.

It takes a certain type of cynical haughtiness for this multi-millionaire twit to hide behind such a Muslim costume ... one often used by suicide bombers ... to stay incognito in Paris, a city where such drastic dress now produces much public angst.

Income Inequality

In what industry do women earn much more money than men? Not surprisingly, it is the pornography industry ... see: Daily Mail Story. I suppose this has something to do with naked women having more commercial appeal than naked men. This article also points out that many of the actors in this medium, who perform as male homosexuals, are surprisingly heterosexuals. I have never ventured into this male-only cinema genre, but I have suspected that this is indeed the case with "gay" females ... not that there is anything wrong with that.

Can we also extrapolate this income differential into the high-fashion modeling business?  I suspect that this is also true. The top female model, Gisele Bundchen, certainly makes a pile more lucre than even her famous sports-star husband, Tom Brady ... see: ESPN Story. So, can we then say that income inequality is "relative?"

And there are at least 15 other industry sectors where women out-earn men ... see: Forbes Article. Can we now expect Mika Brzezinski to modify her periodic Morning Joe mouth-foaming rants against income inequality? I kinda doubt it ... for I suspect this has more to do with what Joe Scarborough earns next to what she makes.
